So with the news of sm in MCU will the 2017 solo sm be the begging of a trilogy?

No. Look at Hulk over at Universal. Marvel will keep Sony hanging for a decade to get the rights back and then do a sequel. That's just how Marvel does business.

Umm do you really think they are going to weight 10 years to do another sm movie after the 2017 one? Then you would maybe have to recast again after just 1 movie. Also there where already rumors I think about a MCU sm movie in 2017 and a sequel in 2019 if I am not mistaken before we got this news today.

I hope not, I'm getting a bit sick of the need of film makers to always have things be a trilogy. Just make the films and see where they go, don't try to cram it into a box.

Nah, he'll be here for life. ;)

I think the reason they do the trilogy thing though is because it is a begging middle and end type of thing.

I think MCU changed the game when it comes to trilogies.

Iron Man, Cap, and Thor wouldn't really make sense as trilogies without including the Avengers or Avengers Age of Ultron.

I don't think trilogies would work well within this shared universe. I know Iron Man had three films but I don't see them as a trilogy. At least I've never thought of them as a trilogy.

While iron man has had 3 and there hasn't been much talk about a 4th one and cap is getting a 3erd one and I don't know if there has been much talk of a 4th cap either.

Yeah but what I am saying is after say 3 do they reboot or just continue?

They'll probably be put into rotation from the end of phase three. New heroes are inbound and old contracts are coming to an end. Some characters could die, while others could go off and do other things, then later reintroduced with a different actor. The rotation is coming.

The primary reason why Hulk didn't get a sequel was because it barely broke even.

Spider-Man 2017 will be breaking records.

No trilogies. I hope they do as many moves with Marvel as they can.

Ideally there should be a trilogy first... but I would like to finally see a Spidey #4 movie to happen.

Yeah it's not really a "trilogy." You can't watch IM1-3 in order since you need to watch other MCU films in between.

I think they will make more than a few Spider-Man films plus include him in other MCU films. Avengers 1 & 2, Civil War (cameo), possible appearances in other marvel films, and so on.

I don't think there'll be a need to ever reboot once he and his characters are in the MCU. They can recast characters one at at a time as the actors get to the end of their MCU career.

Marvel does not do reboots. They only recast when necessary, otherwise the Spider-Man that we get in 2017 is basically the definitive Spider-Man of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What are you saying?
Almost seems like you're implying that the MCU Spider-Man will be a continuation of Webb's character except recasted, which it won't.

Exactly. Marvel does not reboot. The version we will get in 2 years is the version we will have for the rest of the MCU (slightly altered and recast over the course of the decades)

Don't bother with trilogies. I hope we get well more than just three movies.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all.

Yes exactly. That's what I was trying to say.

Well yeah they don't reboot but in this instance there is nothing to reboot anyway, it's a new beginning.

I'd want like 10 films, lol.

A trilogy is simple and sweet, though.
