Has anyone else noticed some of the C.G.I looks a little off? A few clips spring to mind. The scene where Cap says they all wont make it out. The scene where Iron Man is firing as he's skidding across ground. There are several others as well. Could it just be that there not finished? Or used a different company to last film? Or am i being too picky? Did anyone else notice?

Meh, I don't agree. But you're entitled to you're opinion. It's just trailers, they probably aren't using finished cgi. I wouldn't worry

I'm just sayin wait til you've seen the movie is all. Too soon.

Let's wait till the movie is done.

However, I will never forgive the VFX company for the first Mk42 suit landing at the beginning of Iron Man 3. That flip looks so unrealistic it's ridiculous. I attributed that to FX not being done in trailers, but it looked crappy in the movie too.

I agree that some of the VFX looks unfinished, but unfinished vfx in the trailers doesn't bug me.

Not worried...

LOL, I'm surprised we didn't get one of these sooner

To be fair to your posting, I agree that the Iron Man skidding clip does look a bit unfinished. Even if it stays that way for the film, though, I think it's such a small part of the overall picture that you'll be willing to forgive it. I noticed when I watched Cap 2 on blu-ray that some of the FINAL cuts VFX looked a little dodgy. I didn't remember noticing on the big screen, but even after noticing it in my home viewing it didn't change my favorable impression of the movie.

To let you know, too, there are LOTS of VFX companies working on a film like The Avengers. As someone who posted a thread about VFX, you might find this article to be interesting (click the quote for the full article):

"Having supervised the visual effects on Iron Man 2, Janek Sirrs was well suited to return for Joss Whedon's The Avengers. Along with producer Susan Pickett, the visual effects supervisor oversaw the creation of approximately 2,200 shots completed by several vendors. These included ILM, Weta Digital, Scanline VFX, Hydraulx, Fuel VFX, Evil Eye Pictures, Luma Pictures, Cantina Creative, Trixter, Modus FX, Whiskytree, Digital Domain, New Deal Studios, The Third Floor (previs and postvis), with titles by Method Design."

This is probably the most glaring.

Not much point to discuss CGI from a trailer as you can never know if any given scene is finished. Especially since we've seen quite some differences even between the trailers this far.

Not that it matters much to me these days though. It's very rare that you get effects that don't allow you to stay immersed if you are a decent viewer. I don't remember when effects was a relevant issue I had for a movie being bad. Then again I've always been of the opinion that half of the immersion comes from the creators and half is on the viewer himself.

I'll remember this thread when the movie comes out. ;)

When has ILM ever disappointed with CGI? You have to keep in mind this kind of stuff takes time to work on. Post-Production usually completes a couple of weeks before the movie first premieres, so I always find it funny when people say CGI looks bad based on trailers.

I do have to say in avengers 1, there was one moment. On the helicarrier when Cap sort of swung acrobatically, the cgi on him there was just horrible. Looked like a cartoon and that was the finished product. If someone has a worry, it's a legitimate worry in his mind, and that's fine.

I was born in the 1980s. I'm still too busy ****ing in my pants over how the magic of today's technology has made superhero films I once thought would never be possible into a reality to dwell too much on imperfections in the CGI.

I remember a scene during the final battle where he does some rubbery acrobatics right before Iron Man reflects his blasts on his shield. Looked cartoony

Yeah I kinda feel like the people who get super nitpicky over stuff are really just spoiled. I mean I might see some minor stuff thats not perfect in terms of FX but Id never be angry or unhappy about the movie because of it. It is fantasy, so there can be room for some visual flaws here and there.

Also that Cap/Iron Man team up shot in Avengers 1 is awesome. I dont care if its cartoony to some people

Cgi will be fine line every movie not every shot will be the greatest shot of all time but it will all be in the ball park.

I think at this point most CGI should be pretty great. It def sounds like HULK will especially be realer than ever in AOU.

Plenty of times, but AOU doesn't look like it'll be disappointing on the visual effects front.

Well I never had a problem with the CGI in Iron Man 1 & 2, Winter Solider and Avengers 1 (which is what they have worked on) and I haven't heard anyone else complain about it before.

I'm not talking about the other Marvel movies that ILM worked on. There's nothing wrong with the CGI in those. But ILM isn't perfect. They're responsible for one of the worst CGI effects of all time, The Scorpion King in "The Mummy Returns":
