You know the scene where Wayne meets Joker in Vicki Vale's apartment...

He says... "Let me tell you about this guy I know, Jack... mean kid..."

Is Keaton addressing Napier as "Jack" ... or is he being coy by describing someone else named "Jack" (i.e. what he's doing is talking about Napier directly to his face)? Because at that moment he doesnt know that Napier killed his parents...

Remember when Bruce was reading the reports? Assault with a deadly weapon at the age of 15? Violent mood swings, highly intelligent, emotionally unstable. Mean kid, bad seed, hurt people - sounds like he was referring to Jack when he was 15.

Yeah, he's referring to him as Jack Napier, and yes, he knows who he is. Remember, Batman is the one who dropped him in the vat of chemicals. But, he doesn't know he killed his parents, until the 'ol "ever dance with the devil" line.

Yeah I just always got the feeling he was being coy... "let me tell you about this guy I know (named) Jack" but not calling the Joker Jack directly... It's like he talking about him... but in his presence... right?

He didn't know Jack Napier killed his parents but he did know Jack Napier was the Joker.

Right, I know that... I mean keaton told nicholson "I know who you are..."

What I'm referring to is the specific line where he says "Let me tell you about this guy I know, Jack..." Was he calling the Joker Jack, or was he referring to another "Jack" is what I'm trying to say. Naming another "Jack" but still talking about the Jack right in front of him. Make sense? It's a bit pedantic really but I always thought that line kinda swung both ways.

Definitely the Joker Jack, thats how I always looked at it

Absolutely. He was basically saying "I know who you are and the way your mind works" but fooling around, talking about it as if "Jack" were any guy.

With his delivery, he's calling Joker, Jack. It's pretty obvious. Just listen to the line.

well I don't know if it's obvious... I've presented two different ways the line could be interpreted. Sooo... :cwink:
