One of the reason's I loved BB is because of the realism in the movie. The movie was made so that it seemed like Batman could really exist in the world and this was what Nolan was going for. I'm just curious to see how Nolan keeps this theme going in the next two movies. It just seems impossible to do as more and more characters are introduced. I think this is why he is against bringing Robin into the franchise. But as the Joker's and Two Face's of the world are added I think it will be tough to keep the realism without changing the character. Does anyone else share this opinion?

If the realism fades away I pretty much doubt it will come down to the Batman and Robin type of Fantasy.

Thats what I like about the Spider-Man movies. They were quality movies while still having outragous characters and scenes.

Yes, but as long as hes got good instinct, im not that worried.

Time shall tell.

It can be done. The key is balance b/w the essence of the character and a realistic portrayal which I think Nolan achieved in BB specifically with Ra's and the scarecrow. As long as he can strike that balance again with joker and two face, it won't be a problem. And I have the utmost confidence in his ability to do this.

Begins was not ''real''........It was serious, at least a more serious interpretation of the character that we had seen so far on live action. Anyways, as Nolan puts it, it's more of an enhanced reality-fast forward some 10 years into the future kind of affair.

luckily, Nolan's take on Batman is very influenced by Blade Runner. The perfect movie to model Batman after. Its a perfect example of 'out-there' subject matter being presented realistically. Think about it, some of the scenes in that movie could of come across as outrageous... but the direction kept it real. thus i have confidence in Nolan's skill as a director to be able to handle similar material (substitute a gang of homicidal robots with the Joker and Two Face.) We're not going to get scenes where the Joker electrocutes a mob-boss with his ring. We're going to get a madman pushing Batman to the brink of insanity.

Like Christian Bale said on the dvd there making the movies as real as possible but still want them to have fantasy

Thats why fans love Batman.
If you work hard enough anyone could be Batman.

Most of Batman's foes can be introduced into this franchise without too much trouble. Only the one's that use futuristic tech would be troublesome.

Actually, I think Two Face is one of the most realistic villians there is. Acid could defenitly scar someone's face (although not straight down the middle) and that kind of trauma could cause them to go crazy.

i think that he will be able to keep the realism even though he will be introducing more fantasical characters. i think the main thing to keep in the movies is the atmosphere of reality. even if completely crazy things are to happen in our reality we just write it off as madness because we can understand that crazy things do happen.
and i think as long as he doesn't take the Schumacher road of putting neon under cars and giving villains clear plastic guns with blinky lights he'll be in the clear.
