Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - Summer 2010

Hopefully the price point matches the amount of stages.I'm really looking forward to this.

I know for certain there will be three acts per zone, and if I had to make a blind guess, I would say there will be three zones per episode.

I'll get it when its on sale. $15 is just too high for something thats episodic like this. $10 would have been my maximum

Next Sonic game? Sonic Anniversary. Im really intrigued by this

After the lackluster reception (and that's putting it mildly) of the last handful of Sonic games, SEGA seems primed to once again take control of their flagship mascot. Sonic 4: Episode 1 is lookin' good so far, and - if this bit of news from Spanish-language site Sonic Paradise is true - Sonic Anniversary will deliver even more goodies for faithful Sonic fans.

At Madrid's recent Gamefest 2010 expo, a SEGA representative stated that Sonic Anniversary will be a Greatest Hits pack of sorts, featuring some of fans' favorite levels from the old Sonic games, from the original up through Sonic Adventure 2, remade and updated with current-gen tech. A mix of 2D and 3D environments in one game leads to limitless possibilities. Will they have both 2D and 3D versions of the original Green Hill Zone? Will 2.5D be the flavor of the day, like with Sonic 4? It's undisclosed so far.
What is assured is that the game will be dropping on PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP. No word on a 360 version, although it's "under negotiation." I'm hoping it looks even better than this.

The SEGA rep also confirmed that there will be another Mario & Sonic game next year, but failed to give any more details than that. There are no Olympic Games in 2011; maybe it will be set in the 2012 games in London?

That sounds really interesting.Although I already have Sonic Mega Collection for PS2.

Hopefully they'll put in Ice Cap Zone with the original music.

Ive always wanted them to remake the original Sonic games. This is the next best thing and looks like a greatest hits from across the series. Im looking forward to it

ok...so, I've played sonic games ever since the first one on Genesis (even played the game gear ones)...i'm a giant fan of sonic games, though even i can admit that pretty much every console game since SA2 was subpar (especially you SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2006...god it was so bad it was laughable). But Sonic 4...Sonic 4 is FREAKING AWESOME! It's so good to have sonic back. I've played the first zone and freaking loved every moment of it. Well worth the $15 to me.

I played the Demo which is only the first act of zone 1.Even if it was short it bought back a bunch of great memories and the new targeting system is great.

Its taken some getting used to the lock on feature. Is there a way to turn that off. Its weird how he momentarily gets stuff in the air as he targets the nearest object. Its affecting my jumping locking on to stuff, I dont want to

This game is a crazy nostalgiatrip for me as well. The lockon system will take some getting usef to...but I love it so far.

I just got Super Sonic last night and all I can say is HELL FREAKING YES!

As someone who had never really played Sonic (I was a SNES-kid), I can say Sonic 4 is pretty entertaining. Some weird difficulty spikes (the final multi-part boss battle is pretty brutal), but pretty solid nonetheless. Did a review if anybody's not sure whether to buy.

Anyone know how many Episodes there will be and when to expect the next one?

Supposed to be about 4 or 5 episodes total, as it's supposed to be one long story, almost the size of a novel. They say they just are in the writing stages for ep. 2 now.

A pair of die-hard Sonic the Hedgehog fans have released their own high-def homage to the Sonic games of old, Sonic Fan Remix, a side-scrolling platforming adventure that's dripping with detail. Does it rival the one Sega just released on consoles?
While Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I was built by a team of professionals at Dimps and Sonic Team, the independent fan project was primarily created by just two people. They go by the names Pelikan13 and Mercury and they've just released the demo of their unauthorized project.
The Sonic Fan Remix demo re-imagines a pair of classic Sonic the Hedgehog levels. It also includes one built from scratch by its developers.

Mercury and Pelikan13 have been selective in borrowing gameplay mechanics from the Sega Genesis era Sonic the Hedgehog games, explaining that some elements are lifted from Sonic CD, while others aspects of Sonic's control are original. One trick Sonic Fan Remix doesn't have is the homing attack added to Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

The demo is built on the Unity3D engine and users have bemoaned its CPU intensive needs and frame rate. It has its issues—and many Sonic Retro forum goers are taking issue with the game's art style—and is not yet a complete project.
But this is the work of a very small team of dedicated Sonic the Hedgehog fans. And, of course, it's free. So go grab yourself a copy and see what you think.

That looks incredible. Sega should pull a Valve and hire those dudes.
