Sonic Unleashed!

Well that's one out of the original 3. Still, the fact that Sega continues to create new, annoying characters instead of just focusing on the originals that everyone likes is quite alarming to me. Either use the old characters that people like, or just use Sonic.

What is the point of the werehog? It just looks to me like he plays like Knuckles. And if thats the case, why not just have Knuckles in instead?

I guess they only enjoy tainting Sonic.

I think Sega just isn't confident with making an old school-esque Sonic game. Like they feel they need to add some gimmick to draw players in. And when they try to make an old school one like the 360/PS3 one last year, they don't bother putting effort into it since they aren't confident it will do well.

Last year's game wasn't oldschool though. It still had stupid crap in it like Shadow and that lame new character Silver, and all the lame gameplay elements that come with them. It committed the same crimes that any other bad Sonic game has committed recently, with the addition of bestiality overtones. If Sega would just do a straight forward, "traditional" Sonic game, then the series wouldn't be dead right now. I consider myself a Sonic fan, and yet the last game of his that I bought was a port of a Sega Dreamcast game. That is mussed up.

I listen to podcasts from IGN.com, and on one recently they talked about how they asked someone at Sega about why they keep doing these distractions from a whole game of Sonic running around. And the Sega guy basically explained how many miles of level they would need to make in order for it to be a good experience, and it was an ungodly number, and it would be a very short game. So that is Sega's reasoning for this side stuff.

Which isn't a great excuse but it's an excuse.

They waste time making the Werehog crap. Just put more time into classic Sonic levels.

I'm done putting up with Sega's excuses. I'd rather have a good Sonic game that's only 5 hours long than a sucky one that's 20 hours long. Sega is just a bunch of idiots who can't grasp this simple concept.

yet they continue to put out those same type of games on the DS. A traditional Sonic would work as a downloadable game. Come on Sega, do it bc its not like what you're doing right now is working

Like I said, I'd rather go back to 2D sprites if it meant we could finally have another REAL Sonic game than stick with 3D and keep getting garbage.

They should give us a 2D game on a console that has like 50 levels.

Amy and Tails are in the game. They just have very minimal roles. Knuckles and Shadow were going to be in the game but they took them out.
Well I guess you are some what happy because this one wasn't cramed with characters.

The fact that they took out Shadow is definitely a step in the right direction. Such a shame about the werehog stuff though...

Same here. Heck, I'd have bought the game if there was no werehog at all and the game was only 5 hours long. Sega seriously needs to get their act together, but apparently the sales of Sonic games are just barely high enough over "mediocre" that Sega doesn't think they should bother.

Okay that new Chip character is kinda of a stoner for Chocolate. -watched clips on Youtube-

Atleast this game dosn't have Sonic The Hedgehog Failure on it. Sega improved but they can always go up. Hopefully Sonic and the Black Knight pulls them back to former glory. :csad:

Even that has some gimmick to slow down the action.

That's not saying much. And just because it's better than some older crap doesn't mean it should be acceptable.

Why can't they just make 3D sonic game with like 80 short levels focusing on his speed, telling a story, and if they have to have a slowed down part, make a hub world sort of like the city in the first Sonic Adventure for the scenery that they want?

Though I'm calling BS on the scenery and miles of stages being the thing that keeps them from making good Sonic games. Anyore remember the first level in the first Sonic Adventure? The one where you have to rescue Tails? That easily had memorable scenery and was a fairly short level. Giant killer whale crashing a bridge as you ran across it? Yeah, BS!

I find that HIGHLY unlikely, because that's got to be one of the most gimmicky Sonic games I've seen yet (and that's saying something). I mean c'mon, Sonic with a friggin' sword? That's as dumb as if I made a game where-- Sonic uses a sword. I honestly can't top that.

Sega is always on the lookout for a new gimmick to attach to a Sonic game, if it means they can design fewer speed levels. And that's just junk. Here's an idea Sega: if Sonic is running 300 miles per hour and that's making the levels short, maybe you should "gasp" make him run slower and make the levels more interesting to play through? Last I checked, the Sega Genesis only had a 7 MHz processor, and yet Sonic ran plenty fast for things to be fun and yet could still let players stop and look for goodies. Making Sonic be a sidescroller again was a step in the right direction, but I think Sega STILL isn't paying enough attention to what made the old games great.

Well if it is anything like Secret of the Rings it will be a 7-8/10 game. I'm looking foward to it.

Wow Gamespot was pretty harsh on this game. They gave it lower score than Sonic 06. I'd play this over the other Sonic 3D games any day except SA1 and 2 for nostalgia value. 6 or 7 would be fine.

So there's a demo on the Xbox Live Marketplace and I'm assuming the Playstation Store as well. It's one of the Sonic levels and guess what? It's fun and believe it or not...quite good. Which makes me all the more disconcerted with Sega. If the game was just the Sonic levels it would be fantastic, and I would call it a comeback game. But unfortunately, the Sonic levels only make up like 30% of the total game.

I hope that because Sega has obviously taken the time to greatly improve the "Sonic" gameplay over their last abomination and the praise they have recieved because of it, that maybe the next game will be really good.

If a pure Sonic game absolutely has to be short (which I don't buy for a second) then so be it. I would rather have seven to ten hours of good, than twenty plus hours of mediocre... or worse.
