Okay maybe this will make sense to you guys but this is sort of making me scratch my head a bit:confused:People keep saying if this is true than Sony will hold their title of #1.

Description
A story suggesting that an Eye-Toy like innovation may be Sony's secret weapon for the PS3 has landed on our news desk and since the origin is a reliable source which we call a MegaGames friend, we have to mention it.

In a time when everyone is heaping praise, and rightly so, on Nintendo for innovating and daring to be alternative, many have forgotten that Sony has a proven record of fresh ideas including the introduction of Eye Toy which all of its rivals will be using in some shape or form in their new consoles. This news seems to tie-in well with the Sony's innovative side and with the idea that the Japanese giant had to have an ace somewhere up its sleeve.

The message we received started with a rather ambitious claim, ...what is the unrevealed connection between PS3 and Minority Report? We scratched our heads, called a meeting and remembering Kaz Hirai's enthusiasm at E3 the answer was obvious; stiff acting by both casts, right? It seems there is more to it than that as the correct answer comes from Sony's involvement with Prime Sense, a new Israeli company that claims to be operating in stealth mode. The new company claims to have patent-pending technology that can ...reconstruct 3D topography without assuming anything about the user or environmental conditions.

If you are still unclear as to how that ties in with Sony, maybe the full description of the technology by Prime Sense will light that bulb over your head.
Prime Sense’s concept is a device, which allows a computer to perceive the world in 3D and derive an understanding of the world based on sight, just the way humans do.

The device includes a sensor, which sees a user (including their complete surroundings), and a digital component, or "brain" which learns and understands user movement within those surroundings.

Prime Sense’s interactive device can see, track and react to user movements outside the computer, all without change of environment or wearable equipment for the end user. The closed device is plug and play and platform independent.

The way our, very reliable, source was reminded of Minority Report has to do with a scene in the movie in which a user manipulates a computer screen using special gloves; only with this tech you do not need the gloves. This reminds us of what Gesture Tek have hinted is possible with XBox 360 but taken one big step further.

Our source became even more specific claiming that the add-on will be available for the PS3 on the console's global release in mid November while Logitech will come up with a PC version a few months later. Additionally we found out that the Department of Defense, has expressed an interest in the technology although that is unlikely to affect the PS3 version of the hardware.

In conclusion, we have a very reliable source that claims Sony will have a PS3 peripheral which will recognize a user and his entire environment as well as his movements and will incorporate them into useful, in-console actions. The applications of this tech to gaming are obvious and if this story is proved right, Sony may yet manage to steal Nintendo's thunder in this generation of the console wars.

For a link to the developer's website follow the download tab above and please bear in mind that their How we do it section is meant to be a joke rather than the real secret behind the technology.

Their only secret weapon at this point would have to be a special fancy nuclear bomb that destroyed every Microsoft and Nintendo factory in the world :( :down

I THINK 'MS' WILL BEAT THEM TO THE PUNCH WITH THEIR '360' CAMERA, AS THE FUNCTIONALITY WILL BASICALLY BE THE SAME, AND WILL HAVE A MUCH LARGER HEADSTART IN DEVELOPING GAMES FOR IT. IT'S RUMORED THAT 'RAINBOW 6: VEGAS' AND 'GEARS OF WAR' MAY HAVE IT IMPLEMENTED, AMONG OTHERS.

So what does this mean, that when you move the character moves? Because in the article they say it examines how you move and it will be effected in the console game or something?

This is so werid.....What happened to just making video games?

Oh and I thought everyone might like to know this, Assassins Creed has been officially confirmed for Xbox 360.

WELL, THAT'S ALREADY BEEN DONE, SO YEAH.....THAT'S PART OF IT. I THINK THESE NEW TECHNOLOGIES (ALL 3 PLATFORMS ARE TRYING DIFFERENT, BUT SIMILAR THINGS) ARE JUST THE NEXT LOGICAL PROGRESSION TOWARD TRUE "VIRTUAL REALITY" GAMING.........WITHOUT THE NEED FOR A STUPID VISOR OR "GLOVE". :o

NEXT STOP.......HOLODECKS! :D

NOT EXACTLY, BUT YEAH......I'VE ALREADY POSTED THE LATEST IN THE "OFFICIAL" THREAD. :o

lol sorry i'm on this website right now www.ps3today.com and i'm just reading a bunch on PS3 and then go over to the 360 news for you guys. Lol thwip I got a chuckle out of your Holodeck lol but uh the laughter was shortly faded...Its going to happen:(

Anyways i've been giving it some thought and i'm trying to figure out if I should do this. Sony seems to be killing themselves with this whole PS3 thing and Kutagri is on the top ten not needed in the world list lol.

I was wondering should I buy a PS3 play Resistance Fall of Man and then once I beat the game sell it for an Xbox 360?

NO, YOU SHOULD JUST BUY A '360' WHEN THE PRICE DROPS THIS WINTER, AND WAIT FOR 'RESISTANCE:FOM' TO BE PORTED TO THE '360', BECAUSE IT SOLD SO POORLY ON THE OVERPRICED 'PS3'. ;)

thanks Thwip, i've been gone for like maybe four weeks from these boards and when I come back lol you make me feel right at home with the whole Resistance Fall of Man thing

I don't know now that I think about it, is the 360 getting Heavenly Sword?

I wondered where you had gone lizzy.

want my advice?

ditch ps3. maybe when it comes down to about 200-250 get it and resistance. But no console is worth it for one game alone. But if you get a ps3, you can get many good games (assassin's creed, bioshock, dead rising, project IM (which is basically aliens in all but name, etc) for a much cheaper price.

Thanks Horrorfan:up:

Oh and I thought everyone needed a little break from very hyper lizard lol so I just took sometime off from the boards but i'm back. However this time I promise I won't ****e Resistance :D

Sony will need a lot more than a "secret weapon" to get out of the pit they're digging themselves into.

Wait now its a pit? I thought they were shooting themselves in the foot? HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN GONE FOR?

I agree with Horrorfan that no console is worth buying for just one game. If all you want form the PS3 is Resistance, then go to Blockbuster and rent the console and the game. But all the consoles, will have good games. Yes the 360 will have good games, but so will the PS3, and I KNOW that God of War (if I remember correctly, you are a big fan) will eventually be on the PS3 along with other great games. Just see which console has the games you think you would like best, and get that one.

They shot themselves in the foot with a bazooka, which penetrated the floor so deep they fell into a pit

The board wasnt the same without our favourite lil resistance ****e :(
but if you want to be a ****e for the darkness, Im down with that:up:

Crysis > Resistance

Dude Crysis looks amazing to bad its for the PC, my PC sucks so I don't game on it. I love how destructible the enviornment is however hopefully the game doesn't flop like BLACK, saying the enviornment can do this and this and then when you play the game it seems like they over dramatized it way to much.

Thanks Keytrigger for your advice. I'm not sure I think i'll still wait for the PS3 because you know maybe Sony will surprise us? I'm not sure I just have a Fox Mulder gut feeling that they are holding back something and i'm not sure what it is.

NO! Don't get me started with the Darkness....Oh my god if you thought I was bad with Resistance.......Oh my god I pity your souls.

I'm sure it'll be ported to the 360 and/or ps3

I heard from some developers that the PS3 is very very easy to develop for, they says its twice as easy than the PS2.

Just for HorrorFan for old times sake.
