Sony Spin-Off Sony's Spider-Man Universe is now the official title for Sony's own Marvel Cinematic Universe

^for whats its worth now { nearly 2 years later} the joke was...

E.W. = Each Word (as in the first letter of "Each Word")

in case it wasn't still clear

:ndd:

Sony Pictures is run by morons and they don't vet their projects at all. They aren't reading their scripts. No one there gets or understands Spider-Man. They just see a bunch of characters and try to make movies out of them.

What do you expect from a universe run by Avi Arad, Amy Pascal and Tom Rothman? Three of the worst executives in the CBM game.

Venom
Morbius
Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Madame Web
Kraven the Hunter

What a cinematic disaster series of Marvel films! Now give us the cross over film of the decade with Morbius & Madame Web :o

Some self-awareness and to at least actually read their scripts.

But yeah, after Elektra and what happened with Spider-Man 3, it's clear that Avi Arad is just a money and content guy. He's not a good storyteller. And yeah with Rothman, we've been here before.

I doubt Amy Pascal has ever read a comic in her life.

I absolutely love Pascal's completely insane leaked email about their plans for Spider-Man back in 2014.

"Possibly return to Spider-Man 4, recast Toby Macguire and Dunst, convince Raimi to return and write/direct"

"Avi is essential to any Spider-man movie and any deal with any studio would involve him as a producer".

"Toby Macguire and Andrew together = about 2 billion in profits"

"Share rights with Marvel. This benefits Marvel more than us. so not that great"

And then there's that insane movie slate (Gwen Stacy/Carnage film that leads into a Venom film) and the fact that Pascal apparently doesn't know how to spell Tobey Maguire's name.

Edit: and lol at "Kevin seems offended".

Sounds like Disney/Marvel should offer Sony a pot of gold to just end this Spider-madness.

According to this e-mail Feige was willing to offer 2 billion but that still wasn't enough for Sony. They wanted 3-5 (or even more). Amazing Spider-Man 2 underperforming was clearly the best thing that could have happened to Spider-Man.-

In hindsight, reading this is pretty interesting. What ended up happening is pretty much exactly the second option outlined ("Spider-Man in Infinity War and Civil War with a new solo reboot produced by Us released in 2017, with a sequel in 2019). Well, except for the fact that Sony would have creative control ("Marvel want creative control but we have a plan so in a shared universe we'd have a say in most things" haha).

Sony even got that Tobey Maguire/Andrew Garfield movie in 2021 as they had originally planned.

Well No Way Home made $2 billion. So it's got to be a bigger offer.

In hindsight, Disney should have gave them the amount of money Sony wanted. Though not sure, how long it would take for Disney to recoup 3 to 5 billion (or more) for buying the film rights. But at least they wouldn't have to deal with Sony for years to come with Sony's Marvel films and they would have gotten the complete freedom. Imagine still having Sony's number everytime there's an Avengers film because Spider is with them... And us, the general public would have only seen MCU films (post 2017), aside from few FoX films that were released in 2017 to 2020.

LMAO! I don't think I ever even got that back then! That's pretty good!

Yet somehow, their Spider-Verse movies always hit it outta the park. Those movies are arguably better than a lot of the MCU, before and after Endgame
