Oh my God. That's all I can say. I've watched this movie about 5 times now and am just amazed by it. Richard Kelly truly is genius.
Like to get some takes on it, because I've got my interpretations of it, but this movie can be taken in so many different directions.
So, discuss:

One of the worst movies I've seen and I've seen lots!

Im right there with you man. I watched it the other day and wow this movie is just so supremely misunderstood and its sad. It is an absolutely brilliant political satire/alternate history/dark comedy/ sci/fi movie all rolled into one. Whats not to like. I love Richard Kelly he really is a genius but I really think this movie just goes right over almost everyones heads but I love it.

"Cuz Roland Taverner is a pimp. And pimps dont commit suicide." Haha such an awesome ending tagline. Better than freaking "Rosebud" damnit.

Alot of people don't get it but that's expected. Good movie .

The Rock was good in it. Thats all I really liked about it.

I liked Seann William Scott alot more. The Rocks little nervous finger twiddleing got on my nerves a bit. Still nothing anyone says will make me change my mind about Richard Kelly he is a genius and is one of the most misunderstood filmmakers around today. I cant wait for The Box

The only thing I liked in the movie was when Seann William Scott was looking in the mirror and it was moving out of time. Every single other thing about the movie sucked.

That was prolly the best wtf moment of the movie. Plus his calm collected demeanor when he walks into the other room and says "Theres a delay in my reflection" Such an awesome scene. But I still think the movie is just going way over peoples heads. I love it and think its a work of brilliance and thats all that matters to me. Even though this movie got alot of negative reviews there were critics that saw it for what it is and thought it was a great piece of film. Im in the minority with those critics and I dont care. My opinion is the only one that matters to me

Could people stop trying to apologize for this movie by saying that it went over people's head?

It didn't.

It went over my head several times, and I still enjoy the **** out of it.

Yeah, a lot of people didn't like it because it was so erratic, but if you actually pay attention to everything, it starts to make sense.
I love how perfect everything was...there was a reason for everything. Like the rocket launcher...it was there for a purpose, and the ice cream truck driver (aka
The Angel of Death
) even said that Zora couldn't afford it, alluding that it wasn't meant to be purchased.

The only thing that dissappointed me was the lack of explaination as to why
Boxer Santeros' past self was killed and Roland Taverner's wasn't. Why weren't there two Boxers? What did Taverner do to survive?

In short, the movie is just a modern day retelling of the book of Revelation. I'm not even Christian and I enjoyed the religious undertones of the movie.

I thought everyone did good in it. I was really surprised by the cast and how well they worked.
The reason Boxer Santeros twiddles his fingers is to make it obvious he's a split personality. He's got his overly dramatic actors ego where all his actions are accented and attention grabbing, then he's got his civilian self...a nervous, insecure guy who's trying to figure out how to play out his next "scene".
