So…I just beat this game today…and wow…more people need to be playing this game. I will admit that the gameplay is nothing new or special (still solid), but this is one of those games that should be played for the story alone, some powerful stuff in there, and excellent voice acting. I don't want to spoil anything but you'll be thinking about certain events in the game long after playing it, most likely with a sick to your stomach feeling. The game makes actually makes you feel bad about the intense, disturbing violent actions that you don't care about performing in other games. I can definitely see why the dev was upset that multiplayer was forced onto this game.

I've seen some story bits, particularly the thing that happens in the middle that starts all the psychological stuff and the various endings. I liked what I saw.

I need to play thru again to see the other endings myself, see how they differ

Yea everyone iv spoken too has held this title in high regard. Gonna have to check it out at some point

I read an article about those dev complaints & it is a shame games are run like this nowadays. Certainly want to check this out, sounds like they really gave it their all on the story front.

The more I hear about it, the more excited I get to play it. I did hear in one review that the campaign can be finished in 7 hours though, so I definitely won't bother picking it up until it's (very) cheap.

I'm definitely a story focused gamer, so this should be a lot of fun and warrant at least two play-throughs.

Yea and after playing the game I totally understand what he was talking about.

That is one drawback, it is very short, that's why I waited until I could get it for 40

Recently rented this game. A rather unique, but excellent experience.

I'm not much of a shooter person, so the rather basic gameplay didn't bother me too much. Didn't even touch the tacked-on multiplayer. But this game has a damn good storyline and deconstruction of the numerous CoD-style FPS around today.

Probably going to get it for Christmas and get the other endings.

The gameplay was very similar to other games on the market but the story has to be experienced.

I got it on sale at Target $19.99 pc dvd. I haven't played any games in years, not since max payne but I've had a lot of down time lately so I picked this up, so far so good.

Just finished this a bit earlier. Holy hell. I won't say too much but this title is amazing and more than a little horrific.

I finished it a couple of months ago and was definitely impressed too! Some people said it was the best story they'd ever experienced in a video game, and while I wouldn't quite go that far it certainly was a grand example of how story can be just as big a part of a video game as the game play itself.

I really need to play this. The demo just seemed so dreadfully boring.

Yeah the gameplay is very standard cover based 3rd person shooter. Not the greatest but not the worst

I enjoy the quick-kill/executions you can do to downed enemies.

I don't know how much the demo covers. It's true it doesn't bring much of anything new to the table mechanically but I was so engrossed in what was happening I never really noticed.

[BLACKOUT]Especially the way they become more and more sadistic as Walker's mental state deteriorates.[/BLACKOUT]

I tried the demo, and didn't like it. But, then it was given to me as a Christmas gift...and so I gave it another try.

And yeah, it's a good game. The shooting feels tighter to me than in the demo,I think. Not sure if that's accurate, but it felt that way to me. But there's also the context...which matters because of the story their going for. The shooting isn't changing videogames, it's nothing special. But I don't think it hampers the game whatsoever. It does a descent job that allows you to go through the game and enjoy the story.

The biggest reason to play it is the story. For sure. If you like war stories, if you dig military action stories, even if you're kinda fed up with these explosive hollywood style war games where it's just bombastic with nothing underneath the surface...then I think you'll dig the game. There's some interesting commentary that they pull off near the end, where things are getting crazier and they toy around with the in-game prompts and tutorial style tips during loading screens with quotes like, "To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your country is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless."

I know something like that can maybe feel preachy, but the way it's done in the context of what's happening in the game and how things go with the story, it doesn't feel as preachy as you'd think.

Nolan North is amazing in this, too.

The game didn't appeal to me at all, so I watched Let's Play videos instead. I really enjoyed the movie, but I'm glad I didn't follow my impulse and jump on a steam sale. I could already tell that the gameplay would have bored me immensely, as it was extremely generic.

But the story was definitely a gut punch and wow, I would have felt miserable completing this game. Still glad I watched it though, it definitely had a great message to say.

Hmm, yea i think ill deff check this one out. Maybe ill see if a Redbox near me has it.

It's great for a rental, it's a pretty awesome game in the sense that it uses familiar game mechanics and through the story makes you feel like s**t for enjoying them. It came out at a really bad time though, this would have been much more effective if it came out before everyone got sick of generic military shooters.

Just finished the game. Didn't really care for it. My first impression going into it was that it looked like a generic third person shooter and that's how I felt leaving it. I appreciate what they tried to do with the story but the gameplay was nothing special and I was actually bored with it. I might also be burnt out with this militaristic shooters and this didn't really stand out above the others.

As far as the story, I didn't really find it all that interesting either. It really comes together towards the end and the twist was pretty good but it doesn't make up for the hours that preceeded it. I think I might have a better appreciation for it if I play it again as I will be looing for specific things. I will say the first time the story really got to me was that moment when you walk in on some soldiers [blackout]who have a woman to the ground and start shooting around her and then blow her in the head after they've scared her enough.[/blackout] That was kind of hard to watch.

Graphics were also subpar and not impressive.

I played on suicide and the AI gets really cheap towards the end. I hate how in games, the developers idea of ranking up difficulty is to have enemies spam grenades. So frustrating. The teammates also get dumb, running out from cover and getting themselves shot up. Since I have to save them, it left me open to then get killed.

Id probably give it a 7. Its not the must play that Ive always read it to be. It kind of seems overrated in that regard.

My favorite part of the game is when
TRON gives you a choice, you can kill this guy or that guy. Snipers are aiming at you the whole time. I decided to hide behind cover and kill all the snipers. It was awesome.

Just got this free on ps plus here in the UK.
Not played it yet...but it joins the other games on ps plus I have ready for play when I get time!
It does look good!

I thought the gameplay was pretty underrated. I found it to be very fun actually, a little bit generic, but to me it was entertaining and fun. The story is the best though, extremely well done. Overall, it's a pretty great game.
