hey thanks catman for posting my clips, if ive left out something let me know:yay:

Does spidey and Doc Ock crash into a water tower before they land on the train?
i cant remember lol, im pretty sure they dont. alot of stuff that was said to be on this new edition ended up not being true im afraid, like harry picking up the mask and stuff.

That extended bank fight sequence was brilliant

What´s the name of the songs in the "Jameson dressed as Spidey" and "More MJ crap and Doctor scene"???

oh god the music cuts make my ears bleed....perhaps I'll get used to it. But other than that cool extras! I do love the MJ scene the most, over all the extras that one held so much feeling, it really makes more sense from the overall movie. Awesome scene is all I have to say :P

Just watching now, there are snippits everywhere. Peter and Harry talk more at Peter's Birthday, there are alternate takes used here and there... when the Pizza guy tells him to "go"... the scene where he drops off the pizza's late with the secretary is longer too. 8 minutes if new stuff here and there. 20 mins in, and I like all the changes so far. Fleshes it all out. The thing that interested me the most was that the title is changed in the opening credits to Spider-Man 2.1

Not sure how I feel about that yet.

I do not like the extra stuff in the elevator. And it's eating up a LOT of the 8 minutes. And they cut out the rides in the crotch line... so I guess it's all mostly alternate.

Hey Butterfly from Grindhouse had a whole scene on the cutting room floor!

The Jameson part is Final Confrontation by Danny Elfman. Its the music you hear in the first movie during the final Goblin and Spidey confrontation/fight.

I finally got Spider-Man 2.1 from DD today and popped it in. I'm pleased to say that Sony has forgone the front-loaded previews for this DVD -- after the Sony Home Entertainment logo loads, it takes you straight to the menu. The picture quality is much better than the 2004 special edition, although there is slight aliasing in the main titles sequence and in some wide background shots. (And the CGI looks crisp and the colors slightly more vivid.) The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is virtually the same, but it sounds great like last time.

The additional scenes integrated are fun to see (I did like the additional MJ and pre-Ock Octavius scenes the most), although I disliked the J.J. Jameson as Spider-Man scene, the alternate Hal Sparks scene and the extended train sequence. The commentary was dull -- for a screenwriter who wrote one of the best superhero movies out there (and hopefully two when May arrives), Alvin Sargent is surprisingly a man of few words and it's a dull affair. Sony has also included Spanish and Portuguese subtitle options for the commentary, if you speak either language and need them.

The featurettes are fun, but they're a bit self-congratulatory. I did like how Bob Murawski explained the reasoning for cutting out and shortening certain scenes in "Inside 2.1" and I loved that "Multi-Angle: Danny Elfman's Score" featurette. And it's nice to have the trailer for "Spider-Man 3" in anamorphic with 5.1 surround audio -- I wish more studios aside from New Line and Sony did this.

i just finished the movie, and i totally missed the water tower thing. what fight scene is it in?

The PQ was pretty solid, but IMO, didn't even compare to the superbit. Lacked much of the color pop, and just was lacking in detail in comparison.

Still very happy to have this new cut in my collection. Would be much happer to have the BD though...

Yeah, this is pretty much the best shot in the film:

Isnt there an extended scene with Betty Brant in Spider-Man 2.1 or am I going nuts?

I still have to buy it, but in the beginning there was a rumour about a bit of the fight where Spidey and Doc Ock crash through some water tower. Is it in this cut?

Btw, Ursula had another scene with Peter in the apartment. Is this one back in the movie?

I'm still a bit disappointed that they didn't include more scenes. Like Harry picking up the Goblin mask and laughing manically (perhaps the laughter is the reason why they cut it), and some other scenes...

Can't wait to see it though, but I hoped for more footage.

Are there any easter eggs on the new Spidey 2.1 disc or did anyone bother to check? It sucks that Sony never put DBC's "Vindicated" video on any of the dvd releases for Spider-Man 2. What gives, it was a video specifically created for the movie so it should have been on the disc along with Train's song "Ordinary" to begin with.

And what reason was that? Length? Some of these deleted scenes are great.

There's a number of reasons, primarily length. A lot of the stuff that was cut was kind of unnecessary and they wanted to keep the story moving.

The pizza delivery sequence, the scene with the Usher, and Peter's visit to the doctor were shortened to keep the story moving. We don't care about Mr. Aziz, the Usher, or the Doctor, we care about Peter. So they kept Peter's story moving.

The Birthday scene was cut short because it was more effective to leave the tension between Harry and Peter open. Plus, the audience is smart enough to know what the deal is between the two, so there's not really a need to dwell on it.

The scene with MJ and her friend was cut, because we get the same idea non-verbally that MJ doesn't love John in the scene when she kisses John upside down.

The action sequences on the side of the building and the train were shortened for budgetary & time constraints. Plus, Spider-Man should not be able to withstand getting smacked by a train.

The elevator scene was just an alternate take. Though it was funny, the one they used in the theatrical release was better.

Peter taking off his mask in the car after webbing up the crooks, I'm glad that was cut. Why would he unmask himself the middle of a busy street?

And the scene with J.J. in the Spidey suit, although funny & semi-creepy, was just unnecessary. It didn't need to be there to keep the story moving.

I like all the extra stuff, but I definately understand why they cut it.

ill have to watch it again...but during the train sequence, it seems like spidey turns his body at the last second before the train hits him. so he is sticking to it, and not being smacked by it. or maybe he just turned his head.

Yet, they kept Chocolate Cake Girl in!

Yet, they kept Chocolate Cake Girl in!

LOL - yeah, go figure. I guess they still needed her just to deliver Aunt May's message to Peter. Still, she could've done that without chocolate cake. :)

I would have prefered JJ dressed as Spidey over Chocolate Cake Girl.

I loved it, absolutely loved it! Another Marvel movie bonus gem making the original shine that much brighter. Thx Sam for the expanded version. I truely can't wait for III.

Love the extended fight scenes, man they're brutal!
