Spider-Man 2.1 additional scenes revealed

And archnid guy stan-lee does know more than you about marvel...he created it!

Well, having just finished the film, I definitely prefer this cut, which surprises me. The things I don't like about the film are the things that were already in the theatrical cut. The difference is that the added stuff filled the film out more, give it even more space...but importance space, in my opinion.

People will not look at this as the definitive but I will, even though there are moments I'd still cut out.

Besides, the new transfer and audio is worth the price alone.

So, you don't like the bulk of the movie??

Well, no. There are odds and ends that were present in the theatrical cut that I thought took away from the film.

Examples are the random cuts to background characters who say cheesy lines or the office lady running towards the camera screaming and the building fire sequence....

Wouldn't be a Spider-Man movie without the cheese, my friend ;)

But, I'm glad you're saying that there are improvements on the 2.1 cut. The new Doc Ock stuff looks great, and I'm very pleased there's an increase in quality of the picture.

Because they stretched the film out, Peter's anguish doesn't feel so overbearing now. In the theatrical cut, Peter couldn't catch a break to save his life and it came one after the other.

In 2.1, with the added stuff, it doesn't feel so overbearing. I mean, the new Mary Jane scene does wonders for her character, in my opinion. Her character arc and actions a lot more sense adding that new scene...

To be honest, I really wish they'd go back and rework the first film again to get it up on par with the 2.1. Granted, no matter what they do, I still don't think I'll ever like that first film but I have to give the producers credit, I liked 2.1 more than I thought. I liked it so much that I'm probably going to sell off my original DVD of Spider-Man 2....

From the youtube video after spidey gets hit with the train, and he swings back it doesn't look like a smooth cut when he swings back,it looks like he just appeared out of thin air.Is it really like that on the actual dvd?

Watch that scene again. You can see Spidey leap up from the front of the train when it goes into the distance.

I heard for spider man 3 there gonna kill off venom (my father) :cmad: that is realy stupid!

When Spider-Man gets hit by the train, we see the aftermath from Ock's prespective. Then, we see a faint movement in the background followed by the sound of Spider-Man shooting a web, then Raimi flash zooms to a medium shot of Spider-Man swinging toward Ock.

It's much smoother than it sounds. Trust me.

By the way, the disc art and the back coverart(after taking off the slipcover) are wonderful. Top notch stuff and much better than the original DVD release....

Again, I can't stress how surprised I was by this new cut and this disc. It's the definitive Spider-Man 2.

ya spidey 2 was pretty kool but i did not like it when they took out doc ock soo early! :cmad:

I have to agree with the other poster. I have only seen about the first 40 minutes or so.. it seems to be a much better cut. has room to breath.. with character moments and its a bit funnier too.
the PQ is so much better.. even better then the superbit version.

Is the cover you got the one of Ock's tentacles snaking behind Spidey on the front, and Ock himself on the back of the cover??

Ock wasn't taken out until the end of the movie.

Damn, you guys are really making me excited for this.

Doc,

Actually, the coverart on the back has a back shot of Spider-Man in the foreground and Doc Ock in the background, on top of the train. To the sides of the two characters, you see a montage of images.

It's a very dynamic shot of Spider-Man from the back with Ock in the background.

The disc art of disc one has a killer shot of Spider-Man jumping, legs extended with him shooting webs with a nice sunset in the background with the city.

The disc art of disc two has a side shot of Spider-Man and Ock on the train. You've all seen it before, with Spider-Man crouched, except they've changed the sky to that sunset color with clouds. Again, very great artwork that should've been the main artwork for the entire Spider-Man 2 campaign.

What's up with spidey being hit by the train and then split second later he just appears in the air swinging towards the train? That was just poor editing.

Yeha you can see him but it's very quick. I think there was just animation that they didn't want to complete for the 2.1 DVD.

Overall, the new stuff is pretty well intengrated into the film. I just don't like it when they repeat the same music. Distracting.

Also, I've often thought that in the original cut, it didn't look like Ock was just trying to capture Spidey. It was like he wanted to kill him. This extended cut definitly makes it look like Ock wants to kill Spidey, istead of bringing him alive to Harry.

Cool additions, but I don't think this scene alone makes the DVD worth buying. I'll wait and read reviews probably.

video of j jonah wearing the suit lol

....... okay, I don't think I'm getting this DVD.

These scenes sound really good. Can't wait to get mine on Friday:spidey:

That Jameson scene looks hilarious. Still not sure about the extended train sequence though. I think Spidey getting knocked off twice is kinda redundant. They even have the same music playing when he swings back on. And like someone said before that little zoom thing it does the second time he comes back looks really awkward.

I didn't think the zoom as awkward mainly because you see Spider-Man way far off in the background recover (especially when you hear the web sound) and then it just fast zooms right to him.

As for the music during the second, it is the same theme when he recovers but it's slightly different....

Again, it's better than you think, in my opinion. I would say it's the only, true flaw of 2.1....that this extended section, while good, would've been much, much better had they actually rescored it with something slightly different...but it's not distracting to the point where you can't watch the film any longer.

It works....even if Ock's actions don't entirely make sense. But, for me, that was inherent in the script and that's one of my main issue with the second film (the illogical action between Spider-Man and Ock...although the extended fight in the office actually helps in that department a bit.)

As I said in another thread, Ock could have delivered a corpse to Harry, and Harry would have been none the wiser until it was too late.

Sounds like an idea for a fanedit!!

Lol, I have never even released this. I guess I was too bothered with the fact that Doc Ock could have killed Peter or Spider-Man while he should have delivered him alive to Harry.

Can anyone post up menu screens from the new cut (like main menu, language selection and scene selections)? I know we got caps for all the new/extended scenes for 2.1, but I want to know if the DVD for Spider-Man 2.1 follows the same menu design as the 2004 edition did.
