Spider-Man 2.1 additional scenes revealed

I've seen almost all of the new cut and I must admit the film is even better! Sure the touches are minor but it makes the story feel more epic in my opinion... I also noticed some direct hints to things in the third - but maybe I'm reading into it... first off, when harry and peter are talking at his birthday, the dialogue is extended to include harry saying 'wouldn't you want to avenge your uncle's death if you knew the killer?', which we know revenge plays a major thread in 3... also, this may have been in the original cut, but when Peter dumps the suit into the trash can, the screen fades to black but the spidey eyes turn white, to me hinting at the black spidey/venom suit... outside of that I felt the elevator scen was actually better (the original seemed silly to me because the guy thought it was someone dressed as spidey and not spidey - on the new one he knows it's spidey). The police scanner and being alone, the dr. is clearly a campus dr. now, mj's uncertainty about the astronaut...

I love 2.1, it actually makes the film even better , The pace as well as the story has an even better feel to it just like I read it in the novel .

The interaction between Peter & Harry @ The Parker house was great, The Scene outside between MJ & Peter again great . I also loved that we got to hear the compleate dialogue from Uncle Ben, The elevator scene was funny, JJJ in the suit was super funny & both doc Ock vs. Spidey battle were even more superb than the first time .

I thought the JJ/Spidey suite scene was funny. When he jumps on the table, is that a stunt guy with JK Simmons head added on? I can't see heim jumping oon the table so quickly for real.

Still hate the elevator scene hate Hal Sparks, period.

I am watching 2.1 now. I could not find it until today. I am loving the new cut the only thing I hate about it is how random they placed in the movie the J.J.J. in the Spider-Man suit scene. There are definitely better places in the movie to fit that scene then the way they did. But other then that one random edit Spider-man 2.1 is fantastic.

I just viewed 2.1. It's very, very marginally superior. The additions make almost no difference. The train battle is now absolute mayhem, but apart from that.....

Is the PQ really better than the superbit? Wow, that might make up for the lack of DTS track.

Ah well, this is just to hold me over until the BD with a PCM track, mmmmm.

I can't speak for the 2 disc original but I own both the Superbit and 2.1 and the video quality isn't close, the SuperBit looks 5 times better.
Color and detail are much better.

I'm not sure why it would look so much worse, you would think the compression tech would be better.

Some advice please- 2.1 or no? It looks like the new elevator scene is crap, I know the fights are extended, is the JJ spidey scene out of place? (seems awkward to me)

I ask because I really love Spidey 2... but this seems an obvious double-dip and almost seems to take away a bit- so an honest opinion from someone who loved the film and the artsy aspect of it please

Yeh i refuse to get this version on DVD cause i'm already happy with my 2-Disc special edition DVD i got for Christmas back in 2004, it's just a stupid marketing ploy for "Spider-Man 3".

Even though the touches are somewhat minimal,I personally feel that they made the film that much better. The only 2 scenes that felt out of place were,as quite a few have said, the J.Jonah Jameson scene & the extended lift/elevator scene. The original scene with Hal Sparks was better,but I still liked this one a little bit. Also, the J. Jonah Jameson scene could have been added somewhere else,not straight after the garbage man gives him the suit. Would have loved it if they had an extended final swing,and extended Norman Osborn cameo.

Well, I finally got my hands on the 2.1 DVD. I loved it. All the new stuff was really great, and I think it helped the flow of the movie, and in some cases, added a little to some of the characters.

That new MJ scene, for example. Where she tells her friend why she accepted the marriage proposal from John Jameson. That was great. Helped understand MJ's situation a little more.

Yeah, MJ's scene was cute. I can understand why it was cut though. Everything that they say in that scenes comes across without saying when she kisses John Jameson... so it wasn't entirely necessary. Nice to see, but not necessary.

Having just re-watched SM2 and having viewed the scene you're referring to online, I now feel that scene NEEDED to be in the original cut.

Because it gives a bit more weight to MJ's character and to her decision to question whether or not being with John is really what she wants. The way it is in the theatrical version is okay, but that added scene just makes it much more whole.

I liked the added scene with Peter drawing in class. The KABOOM of the the Fusion machine and himself with half a mask on.

And that stuff she mentioned about her father always telling her that she's nothing, and no man will ever want her, emphasised why she was quick to accept John's proposal.

Having a famous astronaut as a fiancee is impressive. And I think she was trying to prove to herself as well as to her dad, that someone does love and want her, even if she doesn't love John the way she should.

Out of all the 2.1 footage, it's really the most imperative to the overall Spider-Man 2 experience. I could do without the extended elevator scene, doctor scene, and pizza delivery scene. And the newer action shots are great, but they really should have found a way to get that scene in there. And if only 'cause Vanessa Ferlito is a hottie.

I liked all the extended scenes. I think it added to the movie as a whole. I really enjoyed the elevator and Jameson as Spidey scenes.

2.1 was great! Only minor changes but they really added to the movie. A lot of scenes make more sense. Jameson as Spidey scene feels a bit out place. The elevator scene was just as funny as the orginal.

I was kinda starting to lean towards buying 2.1 ....until I read that the main title at the beginning of the movie actually says "Spider-Man 2.1". Makes me believe all the more that this isn't the definitive edition.

What a silly change to make.

Bought 2.1, and watched it last night, its worth buying just for the extended fight scene's alone, why the hell did hey cut them out! Other scene's i liked included MJ's shopping scen with her friend, the extended talk with Harry at Peter's birthday, the extended talk with Octavious, and the extended Bruce cameo.

However, i thought the original elevator scene was better, and i didnt see the point in extended pizza shop or pizza delivery scene's, and the JJJ in the Spidey suit scene was a bit bizarre also.

So Hit and Miss overall, but definately more hit, and worth a purchase IMO.

Campbell's extra stuff was hilarious. The new addition to the fight scenes was awesome, and JJJ in the Spidey suit cracked me up

I probably would have liked 2.1 better if there was the option of having the theatrical movie with the extra scenes not actually already plunked in the DVD (I didn't have the Spider-man 2 normal DVD, so I figured the 2.1 one was close enough *oops* And apparently that's all they've got in stores now. *SAD*).

I can see why they took some stuff out: while seeing Jameson prance about in the suit is funny, it kind of threw me off watching the movie. The bonuses to the fight scenes, however, were pretty fun.
