Spider-Man 2.1 additional scenes revealed

^The extra fight scene's were definately the biggest bonus of this edition, they make 2 great fights even greater.

Deffo! Really loved the office fight.

The office fight was my favorite one. The cgi looked seamless.

Yeah, i thought the office fight was a great addition, but i personally preffered the additions to the train fight, the bit were Ock has Spidey by both arms and is just smacking him on his front and back on the top of the train was frigging great IMO.

Just finished watching it. I really liked some of the extended parts such as the back yard scene, the Ock/Peter first meeting and the part where Peter is listening to the police radio. Only minor changes but lines like MJ saying “you were the one who always encouraged me” or Ock saying “It is amazing and it WILL work” just added that little bit more to the characters.

One of the most interesting additions was the scene where Peter was drawing in class. Again even though it was only a few seconds long it showed that in some ways Peter was smarter than Ock. He pretty much predicted that his machine would go “Kaboom”.

Office fight was great. Should have kept this in the first place.

Hated the new elevator scene.

JJJ was funny. Can see why they took it out though.

Still don’t know what to make of the new train fight. Parts of it were cool. Ock slamming Spidey around, Spidey smashing into the signs. But parts of it seemed a bit awkward to me. First of all, I know Spider-man has super powers but c’mon…….he got hit by a frickin train. Surely that would have done him a lot more damage if not killed him. Secondly I don’t like how he gets knocked off the train twice. They even play the same music when he’s swinging back after it. It was overkill IMO.

The hitting by the train was a bit much. Spidey was not even fazed. Should have shown him at least winded or something.

When Doc Ock throws that car at Peter, people are like if Peter wasn't spidey then Doc Ock would of killed him.But when I watch that scene,I think that car was gonna miss Peter's head by an inch and basically was gonna kill MJ.

But because Peter is spidey he was able to save MJ's life.

I finally just finished watching it.

I like some of the additions. Most of the changes are usually just edits left on the cutting room floor for length or whatever. I did like some of the added little lines and additions though that just give you a little bit more.

The police radio was great, since that was a prop from the third movie, but we never even noticed he had it in the second movie at all until that little edit for 2.1. I think the police radio makes the picture of Peter's life at that point that much more perfect.

The Vanessa Ferlito scene. It was Sam Raimi kinda cheesy but I liked it. It does basically hammer home in that every word Ferlito's character says is describing Peter, but not John. That I like. The other feeling I get is that this is Ferlito's only kind of talking scene in the movie so she knew she had to milk it for all it's worth because it would be a while before she got to talk a lot in Death Proof.

I like the extended conversation with Harry/Peter at home, that works a lot better. The bit with the candles wasn't needed though.

So it's stuff like that. Ultimately I won't say it's better than the theatrical cut, but I'm glad we got to see this version and all the little added footage. Since it does give us more insight on the creative process and what kind of stuff gets taken out of movies some time. In addition how scenes can come across totally differently depending on the takes. I don't think people realize just how much footage there is in a movie sometimes, especially for a movie like this. It doesn't mean there's enough footage to edit an epic three and a half hour cut though.

The commentary track, ugh? I mean Alvin Sargent's probably one of the all time great Hollywood screenwriters, comes from an older school and everything. Academy Award winner, but he barely says a thing. Too bad, I really would've liked to hear more of his insights into his process for writing these movies.

Just saying if it's Tobey and Raimi, or on another movie it's Raimi and Campbell it's pretty lively, fun, and informative. Which is how I like an audio commentary for these DVD's. This one was pretty dull unfortunately.

I think it's a good buy at $13. Since you do get a lot of new material. And honestly I do like having both cuts of the movie since they are different enough.

I haven't seen the 2.1 cut yet, but in regards to some folks mentioning Spidey being hit by a train; well, if you look at the comics, he's suffered far worse than that, and barely even stunned. Don't forget, Peter also gained the proportional endurance of a spider, sized up of course to match a human. So, in that scenario, its not too difficult for me to believe that Peter could get smacked by a train and still keep going. His resistance to pain has probably been raised by upwards of 500% or something. This is also evident when Ock tries to crush his head at the bank; he barely even cries out, and has more than enough strength to send two tables Ock's way and knock him through the window. Just my thoughts...

Yeah, he's not exactly hit by the train dead-on.....it's hard to describe unless you see it. It's not like, "WHAM!", he's kind of carried along by it.....it makes sense anyway.

That's kind of how I saw it. If this makes sense at all he kind of went with the train rather than went against it head on.

Hmmm not too sure about that guys. I wouldn’t exactly say the train carried him along. He’s standing still when it hits him. His feet are stuck to the side of the train.

I agree with this.

I didn't like 2.1 at all. The only good parts were Peter turning on the police scanner and the extended train sequence. Other then that I was highly disappointed. $15 I will never get back.

How can you not like 2.1 at all if you already like 2 and it's only about 7% different?

A lot of the extensions didn't need to be there. It weighted down a lot of the original film's cohesion and conciseness. Why the extended doctor scene where he blabs about his therapist? Or MJ and the shoes scene? Isn't her lacking love for JJJ Jr. apparent when she tries to kiss him upside down? etc...? Taking off his mask in a busy street? The jarring triple-peter shot during the raindrops sequence. Don't know, didn't like it.

Yeah, I finally watched it and I have to say its better than the Theatrical Version. The fight scenes were great and all the little stuff just made the movie flow better. There was only one thing I didn't like about it and that was that triple-peter shot. That was sooooooo lame looking.

Thinner6 makes some good points. And that's why I'm don't feel absolutely that the 2.1 cut is superior.

It drags some moments and beats on longer than they need to.

Some of the new fight footage is good, some bad and looks like it was just finished for the DVD.
