But that isn't Scorpion. He's not a guy who doesn't want to fight, he's not handy and his purpose is only to himself. In the first game, we become enemies when Spidey tried to do the right thing, because he is an arrogant bastard and the game depicted that well. In the third, we become friends. That isn't the way to do it.

No way they have the same personality. The Scorpion from the third comes nowhere to the egocentric Scorpion from the first. And the third game didn't move it forward, they started it all over. They could have moved forward.

He was paranoid, not arrogant, in Spider-Man: The Game.

Not just paranoid, but also arrogant. He showed it when he blasted Spidey away and through some of his lines and laughter.

They adapted the time he wanted to be cured from comics, that is Scorpion. In SM1 he's not a guy who wants to fight and do super villain mischief, he's just a paranoid idiot laughing out of hysteria, removing his laughter and redesigning him doesn't mean he's a different character
And Rhino just had a different design, more 616 instead of Ultimate, this time they gave him a boss, or showed his boss

EDIT:
Scorpion: "I hate this suit, I HATE IT"
How have I been wrong, they are different, very very different, Scorpion from movie 1 game wnats to get rid of the suit, Scorpion from Movie 3 wants something different

Funny how both seem to hate being Scorpion. Odd, isn't it?

Scorpion: "You won't take me back"
Guess he was captured and gone back in SM3, and they mind controlled him for some unidentified reason, no?

Check out the amazing fight, he can evade you with long high jumps, and Spidey with his tiny jumps hard to catch, the better game, the better fight, much better than the fight where Spider-Man is actually amazing and attacks in the air, better than strong charged attacks, better than damn rage mode where attacks are 8 times or sometimes more powerful

Scorpion has a different personality here, isn't that right?

But that didn't come out of nowhere. It was only after many battles and many defeats and many downsides on his life, when depression finally hit him.

In SM1 he's not a guy who wants to fight and do super villain mischief, he's just a paranoid idiot laughing out of hysteria, removing his laughter and redesigning him doesn't mean he's a different character
But having him teaming up with Spidey, when he first denied it and tried to kill Spidey, does make him different. Not only that, but the entire origin they gave him in both games and his behavior, whereas in SM3, he is portrayed more as a tortured victim rather than a villain.

Not at all, but similarities doesn't make them the same character. They also have a tail and they also shoot blasts from that. They still have different personalities.

No. Scorpion escaped in SM1.
In SM3 he was created once again in a lab. They just ignored the SM1 Scorpion and created another one.

Same with SM1. He jumps to a pilaster and if you don't take him out of there fast, he shoots a concentrated blast. Even his normal attacks deal a lot of damage. We can't just face him normally. We have to resort to quick and functional combos and web attacks, since standing in front of him throwing just punches and kicks won't work as well and he'll catch us. In SM3, we have to mount him to grab his tail to shoot those things in the bridge while he barely does anything to take us away from him.

You're just gonna keep pushing, won't you? ''This is the better game, everything here is better, your complaints are bs, you're wrong, wrong, wrong...''
This is better to you. It doesn't make anyone else's complaints any less valid when it has any ground to it.

Scorpion has a different personality here, isn't that right?

Absolutely, which is expressed when he is in control of his body.
Scorpion isn't controlled by mind devices in the comics, neither in SM1.

Sigh, I was talking about Scorpion fight in SMM1 with the tiny jumps

Get back to future Spider-Man games beyond Edge of Time, have a relief, have a breather, and I'll be having mint gums

Keep the ponies in the occasionally Funny Pics thread, thank you.

Or FJ. :P

Ponies....why did it have to be ponies?.....I hate ponies...

So, on a note unrelated to the furious debate over Scorpion's video game continuity...

I went ahead and ordered Ultimate Spider-Man for the Gamecube online tonight, due to my inner hype machine flipping out. It came down to either Ultimate or Spider-Man 2, because it's to my understanding that (at least from a free-roaming-street-mission-intensive standpoint) the two are pretty similar. Just wondering, did I make the right choice?

Well, I love the comic book feel to Ultimate Spider-Man and I think the story and gameplay in that game is great. Definitely my favorite Spider-Man game to date.

I don't remember much from the Spider-Man 2 game, because I haven't played it in years, so I can't really say much about that.

I love the Ultimate Spider-Man game. For me personally, I like it more than SM2 for two reasons:

1. The story. The story is very strong and keeps you interested at all times. That lacked in Spider-Man 2. I found myself being annoyed in between the major villain fights in SM2.

2. Playable Venom. Being able to destroy almost anything in sight as Venom offers a stark and fun contrast to playing as Spidey. I believe that USM is one of the few Spidey games that really nails what it's like to be Spider-Man while simultaneously doing the same for Venom.

The one outstanding factor SM2 has over all the other Spidey games is its full-scale representation of NYC, as well as the advanced web slinging mechanics. These have been truncated in the USM game which is unfortunate. But otherwise, they're both solid titles.
