Across the Spider-Verse Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse News and General Discussion

A guy in my crowd said rather loudly, when TO BE CONTINUED showed on the screen - "You mean we have to wait another 5 years for the end?" So yeah, some people are upset.
Hopefully someone told him the sequel is out next year

I enjoyed it. But that first hour... there's literally no room to breathe. They're talking so fast at times, and it's a beautiful explosion of images, don't get me wrong... but that last hour, when it settles down a bit, is fantastic.

My wife actually felt sick after watching it. Usually I'm the one who can't handle all the motion lol.

Looks like $120m now. I just posted an update on the BO thread. Huge success and a great start.

I'm hearing a lot of reports of crowds not being too happy about the "to be continued" ending. My own younger brother saw the movie last night and he said his crowd was not happy.

Then again, I dont think theres reason to be concerned because i remember we said the same thing about Infinity War and that ended up grossing 2 billion dollars lol. But I do wonder if the marketing should have made it clearer that this is "Part 1." We geeks who follow movie news knew that but not sure about casual folks.
The crowd was noticeably upset in my screening. They absolutely should’ve made it clear that it was a Part 1. Imo it’s pretty deceptive to not make that clear and letting people pay for half a movie. This isn’t like Infinity War or Back to the Future Part 2 where even though there’s a cliffhanger, it still manages to tell a complete story. This story just gets cut off abruptly. It’s starting to become a recent trend because Fast X and Dune are also guilty of doing the same thing.

Across the Spider-Verse told more of a completely story then Infinity War. A movie about the AVENGERS, where there is no resolution to the story of the AVENGERS.

The resolution comes with Miles' decision. The cliffhanger is Gwen's decision mixed with Miles' misfortune.

Wait til Dead Reckoning pulls this same thing too in a month.

As long as the movie's GOOD, I think people wont mind a cliffhanger, they'll want more of that GOOD thing. If its a dumb cliffhanger to a dumb movie like a certain other recent blockbuster then people will groan at it.

Watch Fast X this Friday, ON DEMAND!

Nah, I would say the resolution is fully realized in his speech to his mom. Its also hard to tell a complete story when you have your cast broken up and used in the way Infinity War did. While Gwen was a secondary focus, it wasn't quite as messy as Infinity War was.

I got a gasp in my theater. People wanted more. That doesn't sound like a bad thing to me.

There was a shocked roar in my theater. It was loud, but I would not call it angry.

I'd disagree, because the conflict in the film is centered on that decision. What comes after plays as pure setup imo.

Which is why the speech isn't to his own mom. That will come in the next one.
