Across the Spider-Verse Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse News and General Discussion

Every movie needs a multiversal bagel.

I liked it less than the first one and the main reason is that unlike Infinity War or Empire Strikes Back this isn't a self-contained movie, it tells only one half of a story.
Maybe after seeing Beyond the Spider-verse I'll reconsider but for now I definitely disagree with all the insane hype about this being THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!

I don't know. Plenty of publications back in 1980, indicated the prevailing criticism was that Empire didn't feel like it had a beginning or end. Folks like my dad love telling me how funny the change in perception has been for ESB. A lot of people didn't think there was a resolution after Vader dropped his bombshell as well as Han still needing to be rescued. There's a reason it grossed a lot less than A New Hope.

That's not to say people think it sucked, I think it just left people feeling it was anticlimactic despite getting a pretty badass duel between Vader & Luke.

Having Miles reveal his identity to his mom but then turning out it wasn’t his Earth felt like a cheat. It was an emotional moment for Miles but then there was no payoff because it wasn’t his real mom. So we didn’t get closure to one of the main conflicts of the movie.

I loved it, and the audience in my theater loved it. The ending got people even more hyped, there were cheers at the end, and that rarely happens in the theaters I go to.

Nice, love when that happens (I get it in opening day evening or particularly midnight showings). I had some little kids clapping in mine which was very sweet - don't usually get crowds going too crazy at 9am on a weekday lol.

Absolutely. Kids having such a great time in the theater. allowed me to overlook the many issues I had with Mario Bros. With this one it was mutual, but hearing the kids
call out their favorite Spider-Man's at the end when they showed up
, and excitedly drumming along with the soundtrack made it even better.

Yeah, I’m very happy I ended up at such an early showing (unplanned) for that unexpected reason. My nieces are super young and trying to judge what their first cinema experiences should be. Gonna love it when they can come to CBMs and other films with me.

This movie has been on my mind ever since watching it. Didn't think it could live up to the expectations after the first. Glad to see I was wrong. Can't wait to see it again.
It had a LOT to live up to and totally managed to do so, and that gives me the confidence that the trilogy capper will also live up to now sky-high expectations. Amazing team they have on this.

the 4th Spider-Verse movie is probably going to be Sony connecting the series to the MCU with Kang as the villain, and it will be the Spider Verse teaming up with the Avengers to prevent the multiverse from collapsing on itself and reality.

FINALLY got a chance to see this and wow, that was fantastic! Probably the best example of bringing a comic book to life on the screen I’ve ever seen. Every word written about the visuals undersells them. The animation is 10/10 and the cast is equally good all around. Scripting, direction…it just goes on. Only thing I didn’t like is that it ended. I want Beyond right now!!!! Bottom line, 10/10.

love the little pop ups with the word Ed (as in editor) like they did in a lot of Spidey comics
