Forgive me if a thread was already started, but I didn't see any.

Anyone else enjoying this? This is a fun book! I love the art. It seems reminiscent of Arthur Adams. I love the style & detail.

And naturally, it is from Spidey's perspective, so he is not regulated to "background comic relief" (sound familiar?).

I really haven't read Secret Wars since it came out, so I'm fuzzy on some details. I do remember them trapped under a mountain portrayed in issue one. I don't recall the events of issue 2 (of this new series), but I vaguely remember Denver (isn't that where black suited Spider-Woman came from?) and I vaguely remember Dr. Doom created a super villianess or two.

Either way, I am enjoying this more than Clone Wars.

I think it's a fun little title. I like how Cap dressed him down in the first issue.

I guess it's just us, clonesy. It is a fun little mini and I look forward to seeing the black costume next issue.

A little too Marvel-Adventures-ey for my liking. A Spidey-centric retelling of an event he was originally only a peripheral character in, and especially this event which spawned such a big change/new element in the character's life that reverberates through current continuity, had big potential... well, big potential for my specific tastes, at least. I'm glad everyone else is digging it, and I will maybe revisit in in TBP format down the line.

The latest issue (#3) seemed to have an odd focus on the Enchantress. The skeptical part of me thought maybe this was because Enchantress is playing a bigger role in the Marvel Superhero Squad cartoon/comic, and perhaps this was an attempt to further familiarize younger readers with her for cross-marketing purposes.
Just a theory. :oldrazz:

I haven't read the 3rd issue yet, but the 2nd issue pissed me off because it basically rewrote Secret Wars in a bad way.

Reed was the one who badgered Hulk to keep him angry, not Pete. It's one thing to do "things we missed" or "what was going on in the background" stuff. But rewriting all together?

I didn't like that part. Everything else is fun though.

The Hulk storyline was actually the first issue. The second issue was the story about Spidey helping to inspire the people of Denver to fight against an army of lame aliens who have the general looks and technology of the goblins from The Hobbit.

First off, I thought that a chunk of the earth containing just a suburb of Denver was transported to Battleworld in the original Secret Wars, not the whole city.

Second, Spidey shouting "For Denver!" as a battle cry after his little motivational speech was quite dorky.

Overall, the concept for this mini-series is interesting, but the execution has been lacking.

I think it's dreck. Spidey acts like such a tool in these books. Not to mention the unneeded bastardization of the Secret Wars story with ridiculous concepts like Galactus suddenly having a reality-warping field. I'm not enjoying any of Paul Tobin's work.

Aloha,
So is this an Untold Tales within continuity or a Marvel Adventure retelling of Secret Wars?

Retelling MA-style.

Aloha,
Much thanks.

Well, at least up until ASM #600, anyway. And if people keep picking them up, maybe Marvel'll let us get to the OTHER Spidey books.

Ah, it's a fun title and I really like the art.

And if it's Marvel Adventures, 616 people don't have to get bent out of shape. To be honest, it's been like 25 years since I read Secret Wars, and don't remember much, aside from the mountain thing, Spidey picking up the symbiote, and I think Doctor Doom trying to grab all the power at the end. I honestly don't remember how it ended. So, in a sense, I'm enjoying this retelling a little more.
