It was actually cleared up in MCU Reign of Marvel Stuidos book that both Black Cat and Vultress were seperate characters and were going to be in the movie played by Anne Hathaway and Angelina Jolie respectively.

I thought it was just that Black Cat / Felicia Hardy was going to be Adrian Toomes' daughter. But the scoopers kept calling her Vulturess, which confused things.

That was reported on back in the day by the trades yeah but it seems like because it was early in pre-production, it wasn't entirely clear. Raimi even admitted a few years later while promoting Oz that Felcia was definitely supposed to be Black Cat.

Sydney Sweeney as Black Cat is literally perfect casting. I can see her and Tom Holland being very entertaining and having great interactions together, and she certainly has the look.

Anya Taylor Joy was my choice for Black Cat not too long ago .

I think she would have made an interesting contrast to Holland and to Zendaya , but again , I don't think we're getting Black Cat for Spiderman 4 , at this point.

Sweeney would be good though too imo.

I'm hating the multiverse sequel rumours for the next movie.

If they do another multiverse movie, it would make the ending of NWH completely redundant. I felt that the ending of NWH was a sort of meta-commentary on the Holland Spider-Man film franchise itself. Just as Spider-Man takes a "back to basics" approach by having a secret identity and donning the classic costume, the character's future will also be a return to the character's essence. But, of course, Sony doesn't care about that though.

Again , I'm just speculating .

Whether it's a good idea for Spiderman 4 to potentially be a Battleworld film is a different issue .

Unfortunately , if it's a Multiverse Battleworld film, than neither does Marvel/ Disney .

Well, is it just brainwashing/conditioning or something more powerful? And the script for NWH indicates that Zendaya's character will likely remember events. Memory spell or not, it is not right for Peter to break a promise he made to them. The only question is how things will happen in the film.

But , on the whole memory issue , I think MJ will get her memory back due to Doom's creation of Battleworld, and the fusing of different realities or incursions , and that will undo Doctor Strange's spell.

I tend to think that Peter and MJ will get back together , and the spell will be broken as a result of everything changing.

I doubt they're going to have Zendaya with amnesia all the way past Secret Wars .

I think Marvel and Sony's goal now , will be to get Peter and MJ back together , which is why I doubt we're gonna see Black Cat as any sort of love interest.

I really hope SM4 is returning to a smaller scale with just Tom Holland taking on another classic Spider-Man villain whether that's Kingpin, Scorpion or Rhino or whatever. All this talk about another multiverse event is bumming me out. We did this with NWH and doing it again wouldn't add anything.

Madam Webb the movie is infamous and the movie just came out this year.

Anyone who just showed in a Sony Marvel movie shouldn't be portraying another character in the MCU, unless its a Chris Evans Human Torch scenario. An actor playing a character they've already played before.

I think we're past the point of actors in both the MCU and Sony Marvel universe only being one character, between Aaron-Taylor Johnson and Chiwetel Ejiofor this year alone.

I've even pitched Betty Brant as Spidey's contact at the New York Bulletin (no way she'd stay working with J Jonah Jameson in this universe). Give us Jean DeWolff and Felicia Hardy

I definitely would have preferred the street level, college or grad student , standing on his own two feet, Spiderman story as a NWH follow up.

In all honesty , having even a Daredevil team up in Spiderman 4 ,wasn't as exciting to me, because I preferred the story to just be Spiderman as the sole hero for a change, facing Kingpin, Mr. Negative, etc . for Spiderman 4.

I wanted to see Black Cat , and his other villains , for Spiderman 4 , and I think that's the film we would have gotten if not for the strike.

But unfortunately , the project got delayed long enough, that it got caught up in the whole Kang / Downey Doom , multiverse saga, reorganization stuff .

That's fair; Daredevil was always going to be icing on the cake if he were to show-up in SM4. I think Iron Man had, what, 8 minutes of screen time in Homecoming? That didn't feel so obtrusive.

even her as Toomes' daughter seems odd (rumors even when back and forth on rather she'd even be called Felicia Harder or Toomes

mine best theory on it all at the time was just that as Toome's Daughter she was raise to be his prodigy in becoming a villain like himself {the Vulturess} and she briefly even dawns the outfit at some point

but, ultimately turns against her father and then later would take up the mattle of Black Cat to be her own person

Sony liked the surprise daughter angle so much, they repurposed it in Homecoming. Would have felt right at home in Raimi’s universe too.

Cailee Spaeny’s having a moment in her career; she could be a good pick for Felicia. Or, of course, Anya Taylor-Joy’s right there.

I just prefer someone who I haven't seen very recently in a Sony Marvel film.

And when Sydney gets officially cast as Black Cat, a lot of internet people will for sure, remind everyone she was just on Madame Web (and that it was a Sony movie). I don't think it would effect the movie as she's not writing/directing it, but still, there are other actresses out there.
