Spider-Man: Brand New Day General News and Discussion Thread

I just figured their love would be so powerful, she'd break the spell lol. I really don't need the multiverse contrivances to get Zendaya back in the game.

Everyone else only remembers Spider-Man...not Peter Parker (we don't really need to get into the specificities of who remembers what & how). So, outside of Zendaya's MJ, Peter can have a brand new supporting cast--Donald Glover's Aaron Davis, Miles Morales, the street-level defenders (Daredevil, Punisher, Kate Bishop Hawkeye, Echo, etc.). I've even pitched Betty Brant as Spidey's contact at the New York Bulletin (no way she'd stay working with J Jonah Jameson in this universe). Give us Jean DeWolff and Felicia Hardy

There's so many additional supporting characters that the Holland Spider-Man can meet/interact with so he doesn't need to be chasing Ned Leeds around anymore. It worked for an origin trilogy, but lets move forward here...

And moving beyond supporting characters, there's so many villains we can tap into--Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, Scorpion, Prowler, the Enforcers, Silver Sable and the Wild Pack, Alistair Smythe & the Spider Slayers, Mister Negative, Tombstone, Hammerhead, Silvermane--many street-level, yes, but plenty of opportunity for big & explosive action set pieces.
How do you do it without the "love conquers all" scenario or further multiversal contrivances?

I feel like all the “they’re announcing a director very soon because filming is starting this fall” stuff was forever ago, it’s almost September here, Sony

What’s the dealio

I'd rather wait and get something good than getting a rushed bottlejob, however I'm suspecting the delay is probably because of internal arguments for what to do with this. The end of No Way Home sets up Peter on his own (FINALLY) ready to start college and be the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, however that movie made a lot of bank because of the multiverse gimmick and you further have the success of Deadpool and Wolverine doing a similar thing. I fear the side arguing for another multiverse type of story with glorified cameos is gonna prevail and we won't get a Spider-Man story actually focusing on Tom Holland.

They aren't filming this year, me thinks.

Idk, usually when they announced the director, it takes at least six months before filming starts and we are like in September next week...

Anyway, I don't want 4 MCU movies next year, so I hope they save it for 2026.

I am hoping the Black Cat rumors indicate that this won't be an idiotic Mutliverse mess and will just be a Spider-Man movie. Like we all want.

Is there any reason to think this has become a multiverse film? I saw the DanielRPK tweet about the films released between Doomsday and Secret Wars being set on Battleworld but it could be a situation like Ant-Man and The Wasp where that film released after Infinity War but the story took place before.

The more I think about it, Black Cat would be an exciting addition to the Mcu. The fact we haven't seen Black Cat in a proper role in a live action movie is a big plus.

Black Cat, Silver Sabre and Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) are the Marvel characters under Sony, I want to see in the MCU.

Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew)
This is only half-true. Marvel and Sony share rights to her, with stipulations on how each company can use her. If Marvel decided to use her without Sony's involvement, her identity and backstory would be kept intact, but they couldn't call her Spider-Woman, use her traditional costumes or use any of her spider-related powers. If Sony decided to use her, none of that is an issue but they have to change her origin/backstory since it involves the High Evolutionary, Hydra and SHIELD.

My guess is that we won't get another smaller scaled , " Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman" adventure, until the late 2020s, at the earliest .

In other words, The MCU Peter is having his smaller scale adventures now, off screen.

But we , the audience, won't get to see a smaller story until after Secret Wars .

I suspect in Avengers : Doomsday , we'll get a brief glimpse into what Peter has been up to, and what his life has been like ,
but he'll be sharing screen time with a heck of alot of other characters and storylines .

Hmm it if its a Multiverse story. I am assuming they would finally integrate Tom Hardy full time into the MCU.

Wild if they include the rest (Morbius, Kraven, Madame Web). Sony Ghost Rider (Nicholas Cage) would be awesome though.

Basically kills my interest. Can't wait for this Multiverse **** to wrap up. I've had enough.

I would love to see Spidey and the MCU part ways permanently after SW. With no access to the MCU, Sony would at least have to focus on making a classic Spider-Man film. I doubt they would just do a live action version of the animated Spider-Verse every time. It also gets the character away from Disney/Marvel, who have contributed nothing of great value beyond box office.

When SonyVerse makes their version of this

Spidey Tom, Madame Web, Ghost Rider, Spider-Noir, Kraven, Venom and Morbius... I will laugh out loud!

I hope this isn't accurate, cause if it is....my hype for the next Spider-Man film is effectively shot in the face....at point blank range

Hopefully it’ll be a step up from NWH, but this doesn’t excite me in the least. Especially if this takes place in the Void.

Between the RDJ as Doom casting and this now possibly being a multiverse film, I'm feeling pretty cold towards the 2026 MCU line-up at moment.

Yeah, if this is what we're getting, that would be the worst line-up pre-release I can remember

I'm a longtime Spiderman fan , and have been following the development of Spiderman films since before there was an internet , so , I'm still gonna see this Spiderman 4, like many of us will.

That said, these recent developments do make me sigh for a number of reasons , not just with the multiverse stuff , but with the fact it will be 5 years since the last film , and 4 years since we've seen Holland's Spiderman by the time Avengers: Doomsday.

We can't turn back time, but we really should have gotten Spiderman 4 this year at the latest , though even 2023 would have fit into the every other year pattern that Sony and Marvel had .

Then , we would have at least had one grounded adventure , before the Kang / Doom stuff changed the course of everything.

I'm holding out hope that the unannounced film is something like Shang-Chi 2 but until we get trailers and more details for the rest, its going to be hard for me to get excited.
