World Spider-Man: DTV animated series

I wanna see Venom in this series, we got ripped off in the MTV one. Which was great still though, but it shouldn't of been cancelled.:( :down

I hope they don't make up villains in this series.

God, that's probably the trend that I hate most about any given show. I couldn't stand the MTV series because the episodes just had lame villains that they made up instead of using real villains. (except for an emo Electro in the pilot.)
The 60's and 80's shows (and the live action show) did that all the time, too. WHY? You should NEVER have to make up bland villains for Spider-Man's universe. Come on now. The 90's series is the only one that made nearly full use of Spidey's rogues gallery.

they need to stop making spidey cartoons, i'm growing sick of them, there are plenty of other characters in marvel that would have good series but they keep bashing out spidey ones, it's getting boring....

:o

dude, i'm pretty sick of spidey being everywhere i go, especially where there are classic heroes that never get any type of shot.

they need to lay off the cliche, spidey, x-men, fantastic four and hulk based cartoons and move on to something else, at least for a while...

If Bruce Timm was involved, perhaps the ‘made up' villains could actually be cool, ala Harley Quinn, and he could revamp some of the lesser/B-list Spidey rogues... which ones would you pick for ‘remixing'?

Looks like a new, straight-to-dvd Spider-Man cartoon series is being developed by Sony Films. It will be 13 episodes. I guess they’re aiming for next year to release this. Since this will be straight-to-dvd, there presumably won’t be any production issues with network restrictions—so maybe the action can be a lot more intense, and closer to the comics.
No word on if they’re going to ‘continue’ from the previous MTV show, or start over again.

SOB, Why Can't Sony release The 90's Spider-man on dvd .  :spidey:

Let's wait & see what they're planning to do, before we rip it apart for what we hope they DON'T do.

i wonder if they are going to release these as an entire season in 1 pack, or seperatley.

They're promoting their best-known properties b/c they know those will have an audience. And it's not like other characters haven't been given their shot. Do you want WB to stop putting out cartoons w/Batman & Superman? I say, build an audience w/your big guns, then work on the second-stringers.

Possibly both.

If they did the black costume for this season or a later season,do you think they would give us the black looking costume from the movie,or the one from the comics?

im guessing it will be coming out around the time of the movie, so my guess would be looking like the movie, considering its being made by sony.

BUT, if its not based anything on the movies, and if it has its own story and its own look of characters, then yes, symbiote spiderman will look different of course.

Another subject that has been partially discussed is voice acting. If the cartoon is anything based on the movie, do you think they will get some movie voice actors? The 2 new Hellboy animated movies have the live action voices, with Ron Perlman and basically the entire cast. Will spiderman do that?

The only actors that I see that would want to do the voices for the cartoon would be J.K. Simmons. It be cool if Nicholas Hammond did the voice of Peter/spidey.

That'd be like getting Adam West to voice Batman; he's too old & the show is not something they should pay tribute to.

The 90's cartoon had 13 episodes for each season, and one season had 11,so this looks like this show will have the same.Hopefully from that cartoon and from movies, writers will know what stories are good, and what aren't.

I can't wait until they give us some more info on what they plan on doing

I hope some other spidey villains make it into this that didn't make the 90's cartoon, like the Sandman, the Jackal, the Beetle,Man-Wolf,and Molten Man.

im not excited about molten man.. but i know im excited for venom and doc ock

Hope it lives up to the '90s cartoon, because the MTV one sure didn't. I mean the '90s one had a lot of problems and I would love to see a more mature adaptation of the violence and love stories, one that would include Gwen this time (though I liked the inclusion of Felica from the beginning in TAS, they could take a nod from that) and go a little further with villains like Carnage, the Lizard and Kingpin.

You can also introduce second-stringers into plots and hope for spinoffs. Marvel did that to promote Iron Man while running in Spider-Man and Hulk appeared in FF to promote the new Hulk cartoon coming out (both were cancelled though) and after the two-episode stint Daredevil was supposed to have his own "more mature" cartoon on Fox for teenagers but they only made one episode from what I hear and it got shelved.

But we'll see how this does then.

P.S. Certain voice actors MUST be used. Christopher Barnes is without a doubt the best voice actor to ever play Spider-Man and should be back, I'd also like to see what's his name back as Doctor Octopus and if they bring back Felica/Black Cat, than Jennifer Hale should defiently voice her. And before you say you can't use the same voice actors, the N64/PS1 game that came out based on the comics in 2000 (the Neversoft one) used the same Doc Ock and Black Cat as I mentioned because they were that good. However they used Romina for Spidey and it didn't work as well in my opinion.
