Now as you know, Spider-Man is one of Marvel's top characters. A question that keeps looming around in my head is why hasn't he gotten any DTV movies yet?

My favorite comic book character, Batman has like around 7. 4 of them were based on the ongoing cartoon series at the time (BTAS Sub Zero and Mask of the Phantasm, BB Return of the Joker, The Batman vs Dracula). However, the few current ones have nothing to do with any ongoing animated series at this time. Under the Red Hood and Gotham Knight have nothing to do with Batman the Brave and the Bold. Superman has a couple with Doomsday and Brainiac Attacks (that had nothing to do with the Superman animated series, even if BA used the same character models), and even Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League have started to gain DTV movies.

However it's not only on the DC side of the comic spectrum, as Marvel has the Hulk vs. movies (with Wolverine and Thor) and Planet Hulk, and apparently the Ultimate Avengers DTV.

Although yes, Marvel using DTVs is just my wishful thinking to continue the Spectacular Spider-Man in a way, I still think that Spidey should have some DTVs under his belt. Now that Disney/Marvel have his animation rights it should be deceptively simple. If they were really clever, they would name the DVDs the Sensational Spider-Man (it's a name of a comic line), slightly alter the character designs so they still look similar, yet different enough to say it's different, keep everything else, and just continue the story from where Spectacular left off (what is Sony going to say?)...then the Ultimate show can run (as the DTV's have the ability to not be connected with shows like Red Hood is not Brave and the Bold), I get my Spectacular/Sensational DVDs and everyone is happy. I was thinking how would a DTV work with Spectacular's episode format, but then I remembered they were trying to do that with the DVD shows in the first place with the first few arcs being called "Attack of the Lizard", "Rise of the Super Villains", "The Goblin Strikes", etc. Each arc could be a movie, and hey, they can finally use gun shot sounds. So that would be the PERFECT way to keep the show going as of now...I would go out and buy "Rise of the Hobgoblin" or something like that I can assure you.

Even if DTV's are not a continuation of Spectacular, we can finally use characters like Carnage and Morbius correctly, as they were completely butchered on the 90's show.

I want to see the Death of Gwen Stacy animated, as I was hoping it would be later down the road for Spectacular Spidey (since we've actually gotten to know Ms. Stacy). I mean, I'm getting Jason Todd's death in a DTV, Why not Gwen?

So why doesn't Spidey have any DTV movies? Should he get them? If so what would you want them to be based on?

I would like to see a direct to video animated movie(s) on Spider-Man.

There is Batman, Superman, WonderWoman, Green Lantern and Justice League movies. Also The Avengers and Hulk.

Why not Spider-Man.

I agree, DC has been on top with DTV movies. Including Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, and Superman Batman Public Enemies. The last marvel DTV movie i saw i think was Next Avengers.

As I understand it, Greg Weisman had plans for a Spectacular Spider Man DTV that would tie into the series in some way. And with the infinite wisdom and undying brilliance of Disney/Marvel...we all know how that worked out.

I've been wanting one for a while-but then they'd probably just screw it up anyway.
