Spider-Man: Edge of Time

These guys need to take a look at Just Cause 2. They did a grapple hook that's alot more Spider-man than the kind of mechanics that we're used to getting in his games.

A mix between Arkham Asylum and Just Cause 2 would be just right. Arkham's storytelling and extreme faithfulness to the characters and Just Cause 2's mechanics and zany open world gameplay. F yea!

Just Cause 2 is a big step up from the first one, I agree if they were to combine those 2 games to make a Spider-Man game, that would be awesome. I would really like to see what Rockstar could do with Spidey since they've pretty much raised the bar for open world games

Just Cause 2 had more of a zip line thing going on. And the same with Batman. Spider-Man has own thing and part 2 got it as close to perfect so far. Improve upon that and I'm pretty sure you'll have perfection.

I wonder when that reveal or what Beenox told us about will be. Didn't they say sometime in December?

I figured they would show something at the VGA's and well, that didn't happen. Maybe they didn't get as far in development as they thought they would on whatever they were gonna show us.

On a different note. I have begun to watch The Spectacular Spider-Man (yeah, late to the party) and man, any Spider-Man game from now on should just use the core cast of that show for it's characters. Josh Keaton is great and I have no doubt he could handle an adult Spider-Man. Same with the actress for Mary Jane.

Although I don't care about what voices they use for the villains, the ones in SD wasn't the same as in the show and they sounded great. But Steven Blum as Green Goblin and whoever does Norman should stay, freakin' awesome. But they should get Michael Beattie for Shocker, he's the guy who voiced him in the movie-games.

And with that I will end random thought-time in this thread for now.

And with this, I'll enter random thought-time in this thread to respons to your good post :cwink::

I thought that too. Maybe they'll give us a X-mas present?? Or New Years gift? One can hope. But I don't think they will. I mean, they have to have some rest too :P

The voice acting in SSM is 50/50 if you ask me. Some are great, while some are annoying imo. Josh Keaton NAILED Spider-Man. Gwen, MJ, JJJ etc. were also great.

One of the best voices was the one for Norman Osborn imo. It was perfect. However, I may be one of a VERY few, but I thought Steve Blum's voice for Green Goblin was a bit too high. I've always imagined Green Goblin to sound like a crazy, psychopathic maniac, but not with that high voice. More like Willem Defoe from the movie.

The voice for Doc Ock was really annoying. I want a totally new voice for him. Tombstone really good though. Electro as well and Hammerhead. But I really didn't like the rest. Mysterio was horrible.

I TOTALLY agree with you about Michael Beattie for Shocker from the first movie game. Not only that, but I think the design in that game for him was perfect, and his vibro-blasts looked the best.

End of random post #2

The voice for Doc Ock was really annoying. Mysterio was horrible.

I thought the voice of Doc Ock works best when he is cold and calculating, almost monotone. Gives it a really creepy vibe. And I have no trouble with a really hammy Mysterio, which is what the show delivered. Probably the only voice that really got on my nerves was Tinkerer.

I was reading Dan Slott's Formspring site, and he said that in his "would-be sequel" to Shattered Dimensions, he would have a Spot level. That made me realize that Spot would make for a pretty awesome boss.

Well to continue the voice discussion, while I think that the voices in Spectacular fit the characters like a glove I don't necessarily think that they would suit their 616 counterpart. In the show Dr. Octopus sound kinda wimpy and that isn't anything I want my comic book Ock to sound like, but it works in the context so I don't complain. And about Green Goblin's voice, I find it to be just a tad deeper than I've always imagined but thats no biggie, it so well acted I don't really care.

I've always championed for The Spot to appear in a game, glad Dan agrees with me.

Yeah, I agree that Doc Ock should sound cold, calculating and almost monotone. But his voice in SSM was way too high imo. The way Severus Snape talks in the Harry Potter movies would be quite cool I think, just changing it a little bit. About Mysterio, I've always imagined him to have a very deep, creepy and scary voice. You should hear that he is altering his voice to sound more nightmarish somehow. No matter how crappy the Spider-Man 2 game for PC is (yes, the kiddy version), I actually thought that voice for Mysterio was perfect.

Very interesting about The Spot. I've always thought that he could be great in a game. A level based around The Spot would actually be pretty awesome if you ask me.

The Spot would either make for an interesting boss battle, or a complete **** up. Moving at the last moment to appear behind you and punch. Or dropping objects on you like Spider-Man having to avoid trucks, cars, and other heavy objects as they are dropped would be amazing. Especially with the Spot able to just open portals and trap Spider-Man in them.

I can just imagine Spot using a portal to drop Spider-Man in the middle of nowhere, or from a jump attack, he opens a portal and the next thing you find is Spider-Man falling in the middle of New York City. Or into the path of a busy city street.

Speaking of battles, who would other people like to appear in the game? And what type of battles would you want to see them in?

Green Goblin.

We've yet to see Green Goblin from the comics making an appearance in Spider-man 616 games. I'm not talking about the movie tie-in ones.

Yeah he's an almost obvious choice. And I want to battle the comic version of Doc Ock again. And Chameleon needs to make an appearance. I want Lizard and Shocker as well.

I want to see main, 616 Gobby as a main villain. Even Doc Ock got a chance to shine in the PS1, so now it's Osborn's turn.

Personally, besides Spot, I also want to see Molten Man because he's a classic Spidey villain that hasn't had too much exposure, and White Rabbit, for the lulz.

Carnage.
I don't want any other kind of symbiote, I just simply love fighting Carnage, like in the PS1 game.

I also want Green Goblin as the main villain.

IMO the definitive voice of Spiderman is Christopher Daniel Barnes followed by Rino Romano and Josh Keaton.

Both CDB and RR work perfectly for voicing the adult Spider-Man

However JK does work as well for the voice of teenage spidey.

The bolded part. I got a huge kick out of hearing him in "Shattered Dimensions".

:woot:
Perfect choice. Green Goblin, even Norman Osborne. I mean having Norman in it as a lex type character in the comics was fantastic, especially when Peter/Spider-Man had to bite his tongue all the time.

I'd also love to see a Scorpion fight, chase sequence. Or even Lizard. Reason being is that Lizard and Scorpion both have powers that make city travelling fun. So them Chasing Spider-Man and battling would be amazing.

As long as we don't overdo them that would be nice. Those were some of the weaker parts of Ultimate Spider-Man and Web of Shadows. But I wouldn't mind the occasional chase.

Yeah i'm not talking about a chase every 5mins, but once in a while would be good. Especially just testing out some really new web swinging and agile moments. Would be awesome!!

I think that escape from monster ock in the first psx spidey game is still one of the best levels of any spidey game to date.
