Comics Spider-Man/ FF-4 Team Up

I kinda thought when i read it, what about what happened in New Avengers?

But they way i see is maybe, the reveal is that Johnny remembers its Parker. Like the entire time he KNOWS who Spider-Man is, just something is keeping him from putting a name and face together, so finally seeing the face will make him remember.

Great issue though, i want part two now!!!

^ The statue could have been made that way because their memories were affected in the same way as everybody else's. So when they made the statue, they couldn't put a face to it, and made it undefined.

It does bring up the fact that, whatever the explanation, it will have to deal with, not only the memories, but whatever physical evidence there was: video, photos, printed articles, emails, and statues, etc.

I was assuming that was pretty old as reed used dating to determine how long they were away and that would have only worked if they made the statues right after the heroes visited. It seemed implied that something odd happened with pete's statue and not to the others.

And I agree, it's the records like his face on the front page of every paper probably in the world along with the records some people like reed have that would boggle up the mess. Not to mention the data tony has/had on pete.

Hmm...it certainyl seems like Peter's identity is about to be blown wide open again, cause if the FF4 realize that their memories were being tampered with then what about the rest of the world? People are going to be wondering what's going on with their memories aren't they?

No not really. They went through a whole alien invasion not asking any questions about a world wide memory wipe, if they didn't question it then I doubt it matters now.

And if Reed was part of the "we" in question, then he would know what he did and it can simply be kept between Spidey & the FF (and whomever Peter decides to tell)...

Though while I approve of the FF finding out again, I am somewhat dissappointed about the reveal to the New Avengers, a group that Peter is not close to (outside of Logan maybe)...

Its funny how Reed was able to help Peter midn wipe the entire world, yet when peter approached him about a bullet wound in Aunt may, there was absolutely nothing he could do...

Well mind wipes are a much easier process.

That is, assuming that it was Reed who helped do this.

Aloha,
So true. I'm still leaning towards Dr. Strange or The Beyonder.People keep ignoring the whole Beyonder vs Mephisto arc in Amazing Spider-Man 273 and 274.The Beyonder wiped out ALL physical evidence that any of the things that happened during that arc ocurred. That's some powerful stuff.

The Beyonder would be an elegant solution that I hadn't thought of. Of course, since Bendis has changed his story, you would have to get his permission. I don't know if JQ is that brave.

I always thought Loki was another good candidate.

Pete also saved the beyonder from getting killed by the puma. Loki would be a good canidate, cause I'm not sure reed could magically age on part of a statue in another dimension along with the memory wipe.

Loki is the only one that makes really good sense because of the "favour" owed from the JMS stories... but it could be the Beyonder (which would work), but I have to think it's Reed from his behavior in the recent issue...

Re: The identity. Slott has made the point that Scarlet Spiders story with Peter is still important AND had to take place before OMD

Why didn't they just use the Beyonder or Dr. Strange or Loki to begin with? Why Mephisto???

Aloha,
That's a good question. If you check out the Beyonder vs Mephisto story arc in Amazing, maybe you'll find a clue for us.

Ah the Beyonder! I forgot about him! He would've been the perfect choice to use for OMD. Why didnt they use him??

Damn good call. Best part of the issue.

My ASM 591 review, thar be spoilers ahead:

[blackout]ASM 591 (obviously not purchased)- First off a quick apology to Dan Slott. From the preview of this issue I said JJJ was totally out of character and acting like a little *****, but seeing that wasn't the whole picture and JJJ wasn't crawling back to Marla at all, it was a good save.
The good: The FF were pretty great, especially ben and sue. JJJ's ending and parts were pretty great as well. I like what this has set up. Johnny calling pete out for ****ing with his mind was a good "finally" type of moment.
The bad: The art just was all over the place. The time error was odd. A lot of the character moments, while building the extra characters themselves, worked well to alienate pete from them. So the character's advance as individuals but away from the title character. This might not be the best thing for the supporting cast. The aliens just weren't interesting at all.
The ugly (there's just so much of this): First off this issue proves johnny is far smarter and more curious than reed (wtf?). Pete's general attitude of getting pissed at johnny for being annoyed that he screwed with his mind seemed even more dickish than pete's current ultra dickish status quo. When the title character is the issue's biggest draw back, you might have a problem. The mindwipe explaination was fair but the main problem being it does nothing to explain the records. All anyone would have to do is look at any footage of pete unmasking and the devil magic would wear off. So while the memory thing makes sense, there's too much hard data for it to work.

All and all, a pretty fun issue, but the status quo and constant dickishness by pete (why would anyone want to be a friend with this guy currently is beyond me) makes this a pale shadow of the previous FF/Spider-Man series. Pete isn't fun in this, and each time he opens his mouth to johnny you just want to see johnny clock him. This is a good example of how you don't treat your friends. "how dare you get upset for me messing with your memory without your consent. if you question this further you can **** off." Nice pete, really good to know how easily you'll get pissed at someone confronting your rampant dickishness.[/blackout]

I agree. Pete was being a dick to the Torch. And he's even more of a dick that he didn't even think to unmask for the Avengers, and he puts up a fight to the FF.

I also didn't remember the avenger's memories flooding back or any talk of well any of the points pete brought up to the FF. Ronin is just a more important figure for pete than the FF I guess.
