Into the Spider-Verse Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse News and General Discussion Thread

Mostly positive so far. Some mutals on Twitter and people on other forums have called either their favorites Spider-Man movies. Just gotta wait and see ha general audiences react

Well, it sucks because, as we get more positives, that one negative reviewer runs the risk of having an internet lynch-mob after them.

At this point, It looks like the movie will end up somewhere in the 90%+ range and have a high avg. It's all gravy from this point.

Well, I love the MCU, but I have a feeling that there is a group of moviegoers who like going into a movie that doesn't quite have the unenviable task of being basically the 20th sequel/tie-in to Iron Man. There has to be something freeing to having a movie without that continuity to it.

I don't know if it will be more loved than IW, but it may be a better film.

With me, and knowing it's all Spidey, I may love it more than IW.
It sounds like it will have its own very successful continuity to worry about soon enough though lol.

 Average rating is still at 9

Tobey Maguire Was Considered for ‘Spider-Verse’s Peter Parker

Did the filmmakers ever consider casting Tobey Maguire as the voice of the older Peter Parker? Maguire is 43, the perfect age to play Mid-Life Crisis Spidey and, of course, still identified throughout the world with the role. So when I interviewed Spider-Verse directors Bob Perischetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman last week, I asked them that question. It turns out, it was an option they discussed. Here’s what Rothman said in response to my question about whether there was ever any consideration of putting Maguire in that part:

''There was. There were many thoughts about where we could put Tobey Maguire and others. I think after this film, those thoughts might have a little more traction. But before this movie, and introducing the idea of the “Spider-Verse” to the audience, I think everybody was afraid that it would just really confuse people. But wow, it would have been fun.''

It feels like this movie is overhyped with the amount of videos that Sony has uploaded for it recently on Youtube

It needs all the hype it can get... December is incredibly competitive for big movies.

I just need a video of Nick Cage reading his lines. Just all of them, and all of the takes.

Sony is gonna Sony. But, we are still at 100% with 62 reviews, and a 9 avg rating.

I'm pretty certain Spider-Man Noir will become a fan favorite after this film.

I would love to see Tobey in the role again, don't know if he'd be up for it though.

I'm sure a lot of the fans of the originals would love that.

Hope this movie crushes it at the BO. It really deserves it. This is the creative injection this genre really needed. Can't wait to experience this in theaters.

Wow. We are at 65 reviews and NO negatives. I have no words for this. Spider-Man 2 was the last time I remember a Spidey film doing this well. That being said, it's apparent that we are looking at a film that is truly special, right now.

Reading what Jason Latour (co-creator of Spider-Gwen) had to say gave me chills.

Here are some screen caps of his Instagram posts. Powerful stuff.

I had very little hype for this, but the buzz for it has changed my mind. I see screenings happening on the 7th, so I am seeing this Friday night

The eyes on Spider-ham’s nose always bothered me. I bet we get a spin off with him though.
