No Way Home Spider-Man: No Way Home General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

Starting to notice a pattern with you every time someone even slightly criticizes the MCU suits or their CGI on here. You know people are allowed to have opinions, right?

And yes, if something is bad to someone, of course they're not going to like it. That's how negative opinions work.

I think the TASM2 suit is great, but I also think that it's a little too derivative of the Raimi suit apart from the logo and bigger eyes. It did seem like a knee-jerk reactionary costume change after the criticism about the TASM1 basketball texture suit.
Totally agree. Also, the waistline placement on the TASM 2 suit felt too low for me. It gave Andrew a rectangular, dad bod shape.

No they're not good (in some people's opinions) because, as @JB33 said, they don't look real. They're all CGI. And I agree with them. The actual suit design isn't bad at all. And in fact, the on set pictures of Tom in the actual suits look great imo. The problem is they CGI over the entire thing in the movies, so it doesn't even look like a Spider-man suit on screen in the finished product. To me it looks fake, or not really there, or like a video game. It's unfortunate, because they're not bad suits at all, and the CGI is totally unnecessary, and actually counterproductive. The way they pave over Tom's suits with CGI is really my only big criticism of the new movies. I'd kill to see a live action suit in Tom's movies, I personally think it'd look incredible

Yep

The yellow eyes and boots are a turn off for me.
The whole suit itself is a turnoff for most people but I liked the colors on it and the webbing, it was unique without looking bad and the yellow eyes to me was like he got them from sunglasses. I was fine with it.

Hollands suit (Homecoming suit) would be perfect if you remove the unnecessary black lines. But I have the same issues as others, the vfx does not do it justice. Compare it to TASM2 vfx. There was some scenes I never realized that it was all VFX. That's how damn good it was.

I really did like that shot of him in the black and gold suit in the trailer. It really feels like he's in the suit not plastered with CGI but we will see in the movie.

I don't have a problem with VFX unless done right. I mean even in scenes where Holland is in the suit just talking feels like he's not even there, just his CGI double. It sucks but it's what we have.

Well said. Agreed on all points. And it's just a shame for me bc there's so much to like about Tom's movies, but ironically, every time he's suited up it sort of 'derails' me when I'm watching, and the action scenes almost end up being my least favorite parts of the movies instead of the best (with exceptions of course, and there's absolutely some really cool action and fight scenes in them, this was maybe a bit of an exaggerated generalization, ha)

Yawn.
I swear this is one of the ****tiest most nit picking places I've been in my life.
Always trying find something meaningless to ***** and harp on

To you that might be a nitpick and to others not. People are allowed to have their opinions. Just like you are allowed to like the costumes. For me, I like the designs, but I do hate how they often look in the movies themselves because they look like a CG overlay. That's a perfectly valid criticism

Dude, we're still 11 weeks away from a highly anticipated film! Discussions such as comparing opinions on different Spidey suits are bound to come up while we wait. It's not nitpicking if there isn't anything else meaningful to discuss lol.

If you don't like the discussion, then post about something else. You don't have to participate in one that you don't want to be a part of. This is the NwH general thread after all.

Clearly you've never come across Spider-Man Twitter then. Look, unnecessary and condescending ad hominems are not helping whatever point you're trying to make here. You're acting like a petulant child just because people here are expressing (in a constructive manner, I might add) their criticisms about the CGI or the suits.

No one is going to take you seriously if you just viciously attack them like this. It's totally cool if you love MCU Spider-Man and have no issues with this version of the character, but not everyone shares the same opinion. I agree that there are a lot of fans who act like MCU Spider-Man is an abhorrent insult to Spider-Man (again, see Spider-Man Twitter), but that's not most of the folks here who visit this sub-forum.

Maybe Im late to the party for this, but in 0:34 of the trailer we can see Flash in the background and.. he is blond now?! :loco:
You cant fix this miscast with this.

I dont consider Flash in these movies a miscast. Miscasting to me is when the roles failings can be placed at the actor's feet because he wasn't right for the role that was written in the script. Here, I think the actor is giving exactly the performance the script calls for. The issue is the character in the script is radically different from the source to the point that he is basically a new character. So I would label that as a writing/conceptual issue. Not a miscast.

That said, I don't hate Flash in these movies. But I also don't love him. He is basically there for joke fodder and nothing more so far. As far as joke fodder goes, he is fine.

I can't picture him as Agent Venom if

the end credits of Venom Let There Be Carnage shows Venom in the MCU

I agree, and chances are no one expects him to ever do that. Just because it happened in the comic doesn't mean we will see it on screen.

Also confused as to whether

Eddie Brock is going to be in the MCU for long or if he's going to show up in No Way Home, which I doubt.

At best, Venom will have a cameo in the movie or in a credits scene.

Wow, good call  I literally haven't seen a single person anywhere notice this or call it out. Good eye haha
