I see.. also, I think they were the once which got the first scoop of CW developing a Superman show.

Maaaan, I really want a real confirmation of Tobey and Andrew already.

I'd find the Electro spinoff thing easier to believe if this was post-ASM2, desperate, Aunt May as a secret agent Sony, but while they may make some questionable decisions (why are they trying to make Jackpot a thing?) planning to build from a version of Electro with a dumb backstory who was rejected by audiences the first time would be pretty high on their list of WTF moments. Like if they were saying Sony wanted a Thomas Haden Church Sandman movie, it'd be like, okay, Sony's gonna do what Sony's gonna do, but Electro?

FandomWire answered to a tweet of how reliable their info is. They answered "We've ... seen things. It's 100% true."

I didn’t like Rhys Ifans because he played the whole role creepy to me and Doc Connors is supposed to be the sympathetic villain in Spider-Man’s rogue gallery. Removing his family was also a big disservice to the character.

I wouldn’t trust FandomWire as confirmation. But at this point there’s too much smoke to be no fire.

I'm so intrigued just by the logistics of this movie, monotonous speculation incoming...

The deal was up after FFH and we didn't hear anything about renewal, there was the big splash that had everybody up in arms that Spidey left the MCU. I don't remember what the whole thing was but Sony and Disney were playing chicken with each other until it was re-upped for SM3 and another MCU movie appearance, and it feels like Sony made out again on this one.

I wanna know if Sony legitimately had any plan for what to do in SM3 on their own during the period where everything was out in the public and a deal wasn't finalized (it's Sony so probably not), I wanna know how much of this one is fitting into what's going on in the MCU currently and how much is Sony wanting stuff to be in it.

If there's no new deal after this and Spidey appears in SM3 and Doctor Strange 2 (not sure, but seems likely out of the upcoming crop), are they using all that to more naturally ease Spidey out of the MCU? I'm not sure because Sony also is trying to ride off of the MCU further with semi-connecting them with Vulture in Morbius and probably JJJ, so why take all that stuff and run away then when they're just starting to get overt about connecting it? I don't know, I wanna find out more about what the hell is going on with the whole current Sony/Marvel situation lol.

People need to tamp down the expectations.

Unless a trailer proves me wrong at this time... This is NOT going to be a live action equivalent of Spider-Verse. Not even close.

Tobey and Andrew at best, if they even do appear, will be superfluous "fan service".

Just my gut.

I have little faith this will be anywhere close to Into the Spiderverse quality as well. Heck, I am thinking it may end up not HC or FFH quality!

I think they can still pull it out... But I think that if an audience member/fan goes into this expecting "3 Spideys for the price of ONE!" type story/film...?

I think that they will ride the enthusiasm wave a meeting of three Spidey franchises would naturally produce as buzz... But I don't think right now they will deliver that.

Nor should they. I love the idea of them all meeting but... This version of Spidey still needs some work.

Will one of these previous Spider-Men die? Or are they too beloved? Maybe Garfield isn't as loved, but it would have more emotional impact for the audience for Maguire to die even though Garfield might be more disposable.

Oh yeah, there would be massive waterworks if they killed Maguire off (tastefully I might add).

Well this version of Spidey has been on film more than both Toby and Andrew. When it comes to him needing work, they probably won't believe this to be the case.

It's never too early for Marvel/Sony. It may never match fan expectation. But I don't think that's their main mission..

Although Holland has been on film more than Tobey, for some reason it still feels like Maguire has been on film more. Don't know if it's because his films (at least the first 2) are more loved by fans and are classic movies now.

Maybe also his whole film series had a far more emotional arc whereas Tom Holland's Spider-Man series has been a bit hollow.

I don't think they would kill either. I think Garfield would be more disposable than Tobey simply cause his series was less popular. If Tobey died in the movie, I could see there being a riot lol

Lol if Tobey dies the meaning of life for me dies with him

Although, I wouldn't mind a sacrifical death like Tony Stark after 2-3 appearances.

Yeah, an honorable death would be the only way I'd see Tobey Maguire going without irritating a lot of fans.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Because if Garfield did that, it might not have as much meaning and he might feel they invited him back just to kill him off.

Alternatively, they could kill off Nicholas Hammond.

Don't Garfield and Sony already have bad blood?

Same could have been said about Ben affleck and WB. i think bad blood is only a thing when it matters. once people move on from it, people get over it. it has been 8 years now.

Articles are going around that apparently "confirm" that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are going to star in SM3. Unless it comes from one of the major trade sources, always take it with an extreme amount of salt.

It comes from Fandom Wire. The author of the article also put out a video on YT detailing what their source was telling them. There was a lot of stuff in it, but we shall see how true all of it ends up being.

I'd say the one line or phrase that pretty much sums up the Holland Spidey era in all aspects including the villains is "Mr Stark, Mr Stark!"
