It comes from Fandom Wire. The author of the article also put out a video on YT detailing what their source was telling them. There was a lot of stuff in it, but we shall see how true all of it ends up being.
I haven't seen the video, so if it somehow does turn out to be true, I've stayed well away from spoilers. :hehe:

Indeed. The video more outlines who else may be in the movie more so than actual story beats, but it def could ruin surprise appearances if this is legit.

EDIT: it's a shame we didn't get any scene like that with MCU Peter going into rage mode and scaring the **** out of a bullying Flash, because after that scene in The Devil All The Time where Tom Holland lays the beatdown on those bullies, Holland totally could have made it work.
MCU Peter doesn’t need to go into rage mode to scare this MCU mouse of a Flash.

fandomwire says there will indeed be ALOT of villains in the movie.

He says Electro is in it, new look and suit. but its the same one from TASM2. and that SM1 green goblin could appear, or at least the goblin costume since Osborn is still assumed dead. and Kraven, Scorpion, Vulture, Mysterio also. with more possibly too

Marvel/Sony apparently want a big final battle for the final of the trilogy. which is where the spider-men come into it.

Hey guys, this rumor may not be legit. But if true, it does spoil stuff in the movie. So, let us tag that stuff for now. If press images or things become more public knowledge, we can talk normally. But for now, let's tag stuff.

For me the Raimi Spider-man movies will always be the best. All Spider-man movies have dropped the ball on the supporting cast issue to a degree, but the MCU Spider-man movies are the worst on this. When I'm watching the Raimi movies I know I get an actual Spider-man story with recognisable Spider-man characters.

I like Holland as Spider-man though, but they mess up the basics with his character and world that I just lament we don't see the same respect and care for the mythos that Raimi showed.

Funny thing is i seen alot of Electro fan art. and they are nothing like the fan art expectation were back in 2014. alot of these fan art would have been hated back then. but now the modern fan art on electro is basically him looking like a Norman guy but with a shocker type mech suit. and i find that funny.

But then if you got Jamie Foxx... you gonna cover his face up with a star mask?

Hmmm
Same Electro, but different look/suit? Is this too much too hope for? lol

For me it's like why adapt Electro if you won't give him his costume?

If, and that's a big IF , these recent rumors are indeed true, the film sounds like it could be amazing, if pulled off well.

It would make sense that they'd want to go all out given that the last solo Spiderman film made a billion dollars.

It's hard to just go back to business as usual when the last film made a billion dollars.

Now ,whether the live action Spiderverse type film happens in SM3, or another film down the line, I think that's the direction they're going ,whether it be Marvel and Sony together, or just Sony on its own.

I just think the momentum is moving in that direction.

But who knows. At the end of the day, SM3 may end up being a smaller , low key, story ,with Spidey facing one villain, and completing senior year, with Dr. Strange just being there as a guiding force.

It's possible.

I'd be really surprised if that's all it was.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Because if Garfield did that, it might not have as much meaning and he might feel they invited him back just to kill him off.

Alternatively, they could kill off Nicholas Hammond.
Agree about Garfield. He has to be there for a while before dying in battle (or remaining Spidey in his world).

Hammond can be killed but it would have the least impact. If they indeed are going to kill him, let him have some dialogue first, and atleast do some fighting.
But would they even consider asking Hammond to return for not much more than a big cameo? Do Marvel think like CW and try to get everything old back? Perhaps they see him as a long forgotten Spidey of the 70s and if he was to don the suit one last time, the audience wouldn't even know who that old guy is.

If the Maguire version is going to sacrifice himself, it will be almost as emotional as Iron Man doing that.

Not gonna lie, Spidey has been my Number One hero since Day One, but these recent rumors are kind of killing my hype. I just want to get a good, old-fashioned Spidey movie. Just let him do his own thing!

One who swings around New York and has battles in it rather than off in another state, country, planet or dimension.

If they do have Nicholas Hammond, I hope they reuse this theme from the TV series with funky bass, tenor sax and horn section.

if this is true, I'm hoping they give Tobey's version the send off he deserved. I like Spider-Man 3, but Ill never get over what Sony did to Raimi on that film and the fact that he didn't get to fully realize his vision for a 4th film.

On the subject of sacrifices, I don't know about anyone else, but killing Tobey Spider-Man would be an absolute turn off for me. Why do y’all seem to want to kill off one of my heroes from my teenage years? The only end Raimi Spider-Man should ever get in this movie is a happy one. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man is one of the biggest reasons the franchise is one of the biggest in cinema right now. Pay that version its proper respect. Death to me isn't a tribute.

so, if im not mistaken, this stuff was reported on Daniel RPK's patreon, correct? and then FandomWire reported it?

Grace Randolph on twitter has thrown her own word in about this, claiming she has heard Toby Mcguire is or was playing hard ball and is or was reluctant about coming back.

I never believe anything Grace says. Plus she blocked me on twitter lol

But if it's true, I can certainly understand why he'd be reluctant. I mean it's been so long, but I do hope he sees how exciting this could be.

I am sure Tobey also wants to make sure it is a good role for him, as well.

They could make Tobey's Spider-man an aspiring scientist married to MJ and Garfield's Spider-man a teacher which sets them both up as older versions of Peter on slightly different, but still uplifting paths.
