Supposedly they brought in previous VFX teams from the Raimi and Webb films, but I think a lot of it is still being done by Marvel's teams from Infinity War and Endgame.

A lot of that CG is truly bad. There's maybe two or three shots that look good, most of them are of the Iron Spider. I mean who thought that OG Goblin shot was good needs to be fired. Which leads to a bigger question of why that shot was even CG when you could've easily put someone in that suit. :wall:

Lol.

Dude this is the MCU. When is Tom or any one ever in the actual suits?

Completely concur with your thoughts on the Goblin shot. It was pretty bad.

I suspect there are a couple of scenes in that trailer that were only shot for marketing purposes.

When Strange says "When you botched that spell making everybody forget you were Spider-Man, we started to get some visitors", it feels so much like exposition that only exists for the trailer. They're even standing in the same place that the spell took place, so like what, he's reminding Peter of the spell moments after they did it?

I have a feeling this trailer probably accounts for like... 3% of the overall film haha

I mean they’re straight up just laughing at his name. That’s the joke. His names Otto Octavius.
Yes. And Spider-Man takes the piss out of character's names all the time, even when he isn't teen boy, hanging with his friends. There is no Otto Octavius that he's aware of. Without said knowledge, how is that name not rather ridiculous?

Wait, Electro died?

I tought he just lost energy and was knocked out.

You can tell Tobey & Andrew are meant to be in that shot in the trailer of Spidey jumping towards Electro/Sandman/Lizard - The Lizard isn't jumping towards Holland there, he's jumping towards something else in front of him entirely. Guaranteed they are in that shot when the movie comes out.

I’m going to say I disagree, but I understand where you’re coming from.

We all already knew half of the population would come back by the end of Avengers Endgame. It was obvious.
Yet, they didn't show the portals scene in any trailer prior to the movie.

The "surprise" wasn't really a surprise, but we were all excited to see it on the big screen anyways.

I'm confident this will be the same. We know Tobey and Andrew are there. Seeing them together for the first time on the movie theater will be quite the experience.

In all fairness , Fanboys are already sold on this film and alot of us were gonna like the trailer regardless of whether Tobey and Andrew were in it .

I do find it odd , given that they want things to be a secret, that they're willing to give away several major plot points in the trailer, yet are still unwilling to show Tobey and Andrew.

I still think it's a mistake they didn't include them, but the trailer is well made.

On a positive note,

Peter's most normal week after the spider bite being the week he told MJ the truth is a sweet sentiment.
And feels completely insane, considering he got hit by a train, ended up in Holland, found out Happy was dating his aunt, fought a battle on the Tower Bridge with Tony's army of drones and had his identity revealed to the world.

I saw a foreign language trailer first time around and thought they were laughing at "Dr Octopus" which I didn't mind but laughing at his real name is quite a bit dumber.

Trailer Breakdown

Positive
- Doctor Strange looks pretty cool doing the spells.
- Doc Ock close-up on the tentacles looks great.
- Electro design and effects looks good.
- The subdued and more inspired nature of the footage.
- Doc Ock vs SM looks like one of the biggest highlights.
- Pretty top notch shot of Iron Spider with the extended legs in daylight on the bridge.
- Some good shots of SM and Peter Parker more emotional stuff.

Negative
- Subpar CGI at times
- Humor doesn't really work
- Unevenness of the footage

There's a more subdued and intimate feel to some of the footage coupled with the big bombastic CGI fest. The trailer itself isn't very well put together but there's definitely a lot of potential in the imagery, specially when you have a more detailed look at it. Overall there's a lot to like and it vastly outweighs the stuff that raises some eyebrows.

Why everyone blame Sony? They didn't show Tobey and Andrew because Disney wouldn't let them put them in.

To be fair, Spider-Man laughing at "Otto Octavius" totally sounds like a Spider-Man move. That's at least consistent with the character.

It's the two normies laughing at it too that kills it. That's what effectively neuters Ock as a threat in that moment.

I agree.
This was the proper way to go.
This thing is going to make so much money that they will have to build a veritable fleet of banks and massive vaults to store it.

Sony can be whatever they want, it's their property. If they choose not to show them in the trailers or marketing for this movie, that's their decision and no one else's. They clearly want to save this surprise for GA not in the know, save that movie theater experience. Can't really blame them for that.

Why Goblin has 2 different suits? I think there might be 2 versions of Daffoes Goblin in this at some point or something like that.

On the trailer itself. I thought it was standard Sony terrible. So long, to say so little. I did like a lot of the material though. That and the obvious attempts to hide certain things. :hehe:

So who is the 6th member of the S6?

Vulture, Mysterio, or someone who hasnt made their live action theatrical debut yet?

It would feel weird to not have because those 2 are two of the classic members from the 60s/90s comics stories and were "Hollands' " previous two main villains.

Pretty much this.

Its the fact that we have to have MJ and Ned in that sequence when you don't need them at all laughing at Ock. It just completely ruins the experience and immersion in that moment and ruins the thought of Ock as a threat or someone who wouldn't hesitate to kill either one of them if given the chance. Again, unfortunately it just reminds me that this is a Disney movie when you have kids laughing at someone who is supposed to be one of if not the big baddy in the movie.

Well, no. Disney is very much a part of the decision making on these films. They seemingly got more after the last deal.
