well the key difference between this loser pete and the current joke of a character your reading is this pete became a loser because doing the right thing ruined his life. In reign pete didn't take the easy way out, he fought and much like real life, being a good guy didn't work out for him at all. It killed the woman he loved, made him miss her final moments and basically made him insane. Hell he came back because he needed to be that man for her even though she was dead. He went into battle ready to lose everything once again because it was the right thing. That's heroic.
I agree.

Now take what you've got. Pete makes a deal with the devil which is a direct insult to god him/herself, forces his aunt to live against her will, mystically aborts two children, messes with the minds of everyone on the planet (most especially the people he loves the most) and basically took the absolute path of least resistance shirking any sense of responsibility or even common sense. That's pathetic.
I'm not going to get into the mystical abortion/insult to god crap, because it's really a point of personal semantics with everybody, so it may be more insulting to some and not so much with others.
However, we still don't know "how" Peter (with the aid of someone) made everybody forget his identity, but I think you'll see that he did so not because he wanted to "mess with their minds (especially the loved ones)", but he will have done so to keep them safe... which is the responsible thing to do... a LOT of close people have been hurt/killed over the years because of their closeness to Peter Parker, and whatever it is that he (with the aid of someone) did, he would have done so to keep his friends and family safe. There have been hints that whatever it is that was done also keeps people from even "suspecting" that Peter Parker is Spider-Man (hence, some of the stupid logic used by Kraven & Norman & Venom (Mac) as seen in recent issues). And at the ned of the day, he did so because of his stupid decision to "out himself"... and Spider-Man has not only been a comic book story of a born loser trying to live up to his responsibilities as a hero no matter the odds, but also one of a man who makes mistakes and has to live with them... pending on how it's played out, the results of OMD showed Peter as a man capable of making the wrong decision (as he's been prone to do over the years), and we're going to see how it's going to play out.

The seventy year old loser pete in reign is far more heroic, funny and spider-man like than the shell of a moron currently in the books. And that's funny to me (funny sad, not funny haha), y'know?
Was he really 70 in Reign?

Wow... Jonah must have been well over one hundred....

It was a surprisingly very good mini series... maybe even better than DKR...
