That's right, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows has been officially announced. In a New York Comic Con event, I was able to speak with the artist responsible for the initial pair of posters for the game, Gabriele Dell'Otto. Centered out of Italy, Dell'Otto has been focusing on promotional images for the game such as this one:
I was able to get my mitts on two of the posters, each of which are limited editions, and I got them signed by Dell'Otto. I was also able to speak to a representative from Activision who kept his cards close to his chest, but so far, this is what I've been able to put together:
The game is, for the first time in about a eight years, one based in all-comic continuity. That's right, no movie influence here.
The game will be on PS3, XBox 360, PC, Wii, and the PSP. No word on the PS2 yet.
As I spoke to Dell'Otto about his artistic process on the poster, he specifically noted that the sketch as a whole took about three days to complete, with a day dedicated to drawing and two days devoted to painting Spider-Man, the city, and the symbiotes. I'm not sure if this is a good thing, but it doesn't seem to be so bad yet.
The official site for the game is up and running at:
