Spiderman 3.1 Final Swing Edition- Fan edit

Yeah, thats the plan. However, the movie doesn't follow the traditional films narrative. Several scenes and things are moved around, with some scenes getting a complete re-scoring and new audio mix. For instance, the scene following the credits is where Spidey first encounters Sandman.

I'm also working on making Spidey more like he should be by using quips and lines from the Spiderman movie video games.

As for your idea of removing the amnesia subplot, I don't think you should. It'd take out most of James's screentime, which is a shame. He's one of the best actors in the trilogy.

One comment: I don't get the *****ing about the "The Twist" part. Sure, it's midly cheesy, but it feels natural, like two friends goofing off while making some food. Hell, I've done something a lot like that with my friends.

The way I'm planning to work around the subplot doesn't eliminate too much of his screen time. The hospital scene and Harry's homecoming are of course gone, but much of the rest is in-tact (if I can pull it off).

That arc is just TOOOOO contrived and cheap. I can't believe, with all the potential storylines they had with Harry, they went that route. Its shoddy film making....I'm truly sorry to say that but it is. That and Sandman killing Ben, which I think I've gotten around as well.....really? (But I could say that for 90% of the decisions made on this film.) But I digress.

You know, I've considered keeping "The Twist" part in. It shows the two of them bonding, and I am working to make it where MJ really does leave Peter for Harry...don't know if I can pull that off but I'm trying. But yes....I'm considering it.

Just watched the intro, Vash - killer job! Very refreshing take on fan editing SM3. Really can't wait to see more!

Oh, and playing the shot of black Spidey on the church in reverse as a zoom out was very clever!

EDIT: Can't stop replaying it - this is going to be just like your original 3.1 trailer which I still watch. Darn you! :P

I don't really like that idea, personally. Sorry, man

No worries. I'm not totally keen on it myself....but its certainly better than the soap opera, "If you want Peter to live...." (like he couldn't take care of himself...he's freaking SPIDERMAN!!) BS that was given to us in the original film, at least IMO.

wow. the intro i thought was pretty amazing. i'm already sold on this and am looking to see how this turns out.

Here is how we are thinking of tackling Harry's amnesia, make it where it happens as a result of the Goblin serum (as it did to Norman is SM1). The three clips are Harry's experiment (Which still happens after the play), the hospital scene, and then Harry fully remembering everything (Which happens directly after the Peter/MJ dinner). Harry then attacks Peter on his way home after the disastrous dinner with MJ, and the symbiont gets on Peter when he arrives home, feed off his anger toward Harry and MJ.

Very very cool idea, Vash.

- If Harry was found passed out in the Goblin chamber, I would think the doctor's might be a bit more suspicious. Also, the 'I had an accident' and 'hit my head lines' might not work in this context so well unless the viewer really reaches. Plus, if the Harry/Peter attack comes later with no amnesia, how would it end? Peter just KO's Harry and runs home?

- The footage of Norman/Harry from S-M1 really sticks out (at least to me) being smushed down from 1.85 to 2.35 to match the S-M3 aspect ratio. I would see if you could just try and crop it vertically to scope in the least invasive way possible (they did this in Spidey 3 when they flash back to Peter in costume standing over Norman's corpse) instead of pressing it down.

- My only other concern is that moving Harry's attack on Peter removes a much needed big action beat that already arrives a good 15+ minutes into the film. Without it there to boost things the movie might really suffer as far as pacing goes (though I'm sure you guys have tons of other shuffling to do). I was also thinking that if the attack comes after Peter is super bummed out following the dinner, you'll have to edit out the goofy smile off of his face right before Harry slams into him.

Just some of my observations! I'm REALLY excited about this man - I'm following closely!

Love the feedback! Thanks for the kind words Angel_Faerie, and KurtMysterio here is what I was thinking of doing with what you said:

1) When Harry first goes back to the chamber, I'm going to find a clip of him saying "Bernerd!" (The Butler) implying that he is going to help him....when the camera zooms in on the flatline, I'm going to find a clip of Bernerd saying slightly paniced "Mr Osborne!" or something like that. Basically the idea is Bernerd finds him that way, and they use the cover story of "I had an accident" to take him to the hospital......its clearly possible that he hit his head during it....especially with him spazming. Thoughts on that?

1.5) The Harry/Peter fight ends with Peter getting away from Harry, and Harry leaving. Peter runs down an alley, changes into Spiderman (ala Spiderman 2 clip) then comes back after Harry....but of course he's already gone. The reason I have him changing is to keep with him having his costume on when the symbiont gets him....although I'm considering just having him get away, then goes home and puts on his costume so as not to be caught off guard by Harry again. Still working this one out.

2) I thought that too....will certainly look into that. Never done it before, have any advice on where to start?

3) True, but remember the movie opens with the crane accident now....so there is the big action beat the original didn't have. At this time, the films first half pacing resembles SpiderMan 2, where it focuses more on the story then the second half ramps up the action.

You are correct....there has been A LOT of moving around in this film....would you be interested if I PM'ed you some of the more radical changes? Kinda would like to keep them held back until near release, but need feedback on them.

You are correct...I (or I'm going to get someone) am going to digitally alter Peter on his scooter into a frown, shouldn't be all that hard considering some of the things I've seen done.

Please do - you could of course count on my discretion. But yeah man, I have a ton of interest and know the whole trilogy just as well as anyone on here, so any help I can give I will give it!

Sorry for the hold up, but since I was getting more input from this site than the other I was posting on, I wanted to see if any of you guys had an idea to replace the "Black Suit Spiderman" theme with. Its getting replaced, I'm just not sure with what.

And it needs to be able to be used during the symbiont take over, as well as the train fight (for reasons I will reveal later....its a secret!!)

It has its moments where its good, but I'm looking for something darker...more serious. For some reason, the theme as is reminds me of the wicked witch of the west from the Wizard of Oz's theme! lol. Plus, the biggest, most often repeated request of me about this edit is replacing this theme, specifically where there is the big reveal of him in the suit...they say it really throws them out of the scene.

What about this?

Definitely an idea...I like the music. :) I'm trying to find something more "organic" sounding though, that doesn't stick out as new music, something that is an old Elfman or Young music.

But yeah, I might find a place for that music in here. :)

Two goodies for your pleasure:

They are both concepts, not 100% finished (since I wanted to leave some wiggle room if they didnt work), but the first is a re-scored scene of Peter being consumed by the symbiont, and the second the bridge breakup scene re-done.

One thing to remember is I am working to make it where MJ actually leaves Peter for Harry, so the breakup scene is made to reflect this (It happens immediately after we see MJ and Harry kissing, and then a slow pan away from Harry's mansion).

Symbiont Take Over concept:

Still don't like the idea of her genuinely leaving Peter for Harry. It just doesn't work.

Triple Post?! WTH?

Yep, The Thread Manager suure is fixing the lag, alright :whatever:

Lol, yeah I've had that as well. :)

As far as the break-up, my feelings on it is her emotions during the final fight clearly show more worry and feelings for Harry than they do Peter, as do her actions during the funeral. MJ feels rejected, alone, wonders if Peter is cheating on her with Gwen, and Harry (an ex-boyfriend) was there for her. How many times does this happen in real life? You don't think it doesn't work better than the "If you love Peter...." forced break-up, especially after MJ so bravely said at the end of 2 "I know there will be risks, but I want to face them with you!!" To me, it doesn't work that way. Besides, MJ knows Peter is freaking Spiderman!! He can take care of himself. And at any rate, Harry is just using MJ to get to Peter...the narrative of the edit will show this.

What are yours?

I'm not really sure. You make some good points, but it just doesn't feel right to me. It hasn't since the moment you first talked about the idea. There probably is some way to make some sort of mish-mash of ideas to make something work, but unfortunately I'm blank when it comes to suggestions right now.
