It surprises me that people use porn as a way to determine who will win the format war. IMO, it is nowhere NEAR the factor it was during the VHS/Betamax times because porn is much more readily available now (internet, helooo?).
Anyways, you will NOT see Spidey on HD-DVD. BD only. I own both formats and consider myself totally format neutral, but Blu-ray will likely take it in the end.
BR:
WB, Paramount, New Line (when TotalHD discs begin replication), Lionsgate, FOX, Disney/Buena, Sony, MGM.
HD-DVD:
WB, Paramount, New Line (when TotalHD discs begin replication), Universal, Weinstein.
The format war is of course far from over (huge battle brewing on 5/22: Matrix Trilogy (HD) v. Pirates 1/2 (BD)). But with the support BD has, it is no longer taking the licking it once was, and is doing very well with tons of huge releases on the horizon. Ah well, whoever wins, I'm all set.
PS: HD-DVD better picture? Please, don't make claims on something you know nothing about. With both Sony and Buena Vista supporting BD-50's and PCM tracks (either 16/48 or 24/48), and their use of the Mpeg-4 AVC codec, they are producing reference quality discs. Warner gives each formats disc the same spectacular VC-1 encodes. On the BD side, Fox is the only one offering less than spectacular discs due to their use of BD-25's and Mpeg2. Both formats have come a long way in the last year, and are easily neck in neck for both PQ and Sound quality (TrueHD tracks on HD-DVD v. PCM/DTS HD Master Audio tracks).
