Comics Spidey's still in the NA

And so I get to continue holding onto my subscription money. Thanks Marvel, I have bills to pay.

Anyone read the Epilogue post on Newsarama. From the way it sounds to me, it looks pretty sure that Spidey is wearing black because
Cap "dies" in Civil War #7. At least that's what it sounds like will happen. Bendis makes it sound like the team is together to respect his legacy, which makes it sounds like he's dead IMO

Thats what i figured.

Yeah, Bendis also says that
The New Avengers are and "Illegal" team which means I guess there won't be a solid resolution at the end of Civil War. The new hideout is Dr. Strange's building with a "Starbucks Coming Soon" sign on the front.

I wonder if Aunt May and Wong will hook up?

Sweet. Looks like I'll be adding New Avengers back into my pull list since Spidey is still on the team. I figured that he'd be off any Avengers team because of what has happened through Civil War but I suppose this is quite a twist of fate.

I actually really like that line up. Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Spider-Woman, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Echo, Wolverine, and Ronin. I hope that Ronin is Captain America or something because that would probably make things a tad more bad ass.

But, yeah, that's actually a pretty solid team. I like the addition of Dr. Strange and Iron Fist. Awesome stuff.

From Bendis interview it sounds like Ronin
probably isn't Cap, as Bendis said that Cap wasn't there physically, but told them they were Avengers, and that's why this team exists. Makes me even more worried that Cap might die in CW.

Man, I REALLY hope that doesn't happen.

It's possible that Ronin could be Hawkeye, that'd be a neat little twist.

I assumed this also. Sucks doesn't it.

That might be it, or some others think it might be to mourn the death of a fellow hero in CW. Either way, it's meant to be reflective of his current state of mind.

That's who I'm starting to think it is.

Doesn't he back in black because of a sniper's bullet?

Yep, supposedly whoever gets "injured" in the upcoming ASM issue is the reason that he goes "Back in Black".

Anyway, I hope that Bendis writes Spider-man much better this time around. I feel he really didn't have a grasp of the character at all before. I always thought it was a bad idea for a writer to right the same character in the 616 universe and Ultimate universe. Bendis proved my point on his New Avengers run. It was a shame too because I liked all the other characters. I just didn't really care for my "favorite" character in that title.

Aloha,
I would agree.Bendis should not write NA if he is going to dumb down Spidey. I was looking forward to Spidey getting some well deserved respect from his peers and even being looked upon as a leader. Let's hope things improve this time around.Spidey has the right to be in a team, just not bound to that team. He will always first and foremost be a loner.

I agree completely with that.

I don't mind Spider-man being on a team at all. Of coarse, I prefer him being a loner but on occasion..a team setting is nice.

Actually what I was hoping would happen even though I know the chances of it are basically zero.....It would have been nice to see Peter go to the Fantastic Four for help..or whats left of them. Since it looks like Reed will be off the team. Spidey could have been teamed up with Sue and Johnny for a while.

Really missing those Johnny/Spider-man interactions and it's let me down bigtime that Marvel hasn't really had them interact at all during this Civil War.

lets hope so:spidey:

Isn't there some talk of Luke Cage being the leader of the 'new' New Avengers???

To me, it seems more that Spidey should be the leader of the group, possibly Dr Starnge, but Spidey moreso.

Well, I'm not adding it to my pull list just yet, as NA has been a constant dissappointment to me since its inception. I bought it thinking that Spidey's inclusion would enhance the book...instead he's more of a clown than Murdock was on the "A-Team". He never contributes anythign to any fight or conversation, and it's ridiculous. All I've seen him do is get his ass kicked and look like a third-rate loser.

I'll try out the first issue of this revamp of a 2 and a half yea-old title, but I doubt it'll pull me in.

Still...I would like to be proven wrong ONCE.

I bought the first 14 issues of NA, and I couldn't believe how poorly Bendis handled Spidey. The guy there for comedic value. If Bendis wants to make this work, he has to do a lot better with Spidey imo.

Spidey the leader?

Hmmm I don't know about that. The guy just seems like too much of a loner to ever "lead" a group. I'm not saying he has poor leadership skills or anything. It's just that his first instict is to do things on his own, never asking for help and not involving anyone in anything dangerous.

Well if he's on the team, if he is actually remaining on the team after all the Civil War stuff, then it must be for a reason. Spidey is by far the most experienced member on the team, only Doc Strange is comes close. It makes sense for him to lead the group. Well a lot more sense then Luke Cage or Spider-woman.

I guess it depends on who Ronin turns out to be. If it's Cap or Hawkeye, I could see them as the leader. But I certainly think Spidey has the ability to lead the group over any other memeber of the team.

the only team i can see spidey leading consists of him firestar and iceman:ninja:

With all the talk about Captain America getting killed in Civil War, the team will remain together because it was Cap's team... and maybe Spidey will feel even guiltier than ever because of his initial decisions.

And just because Luke will be team leader doesn't necessarily mean that the good Doctor nor Spidey will be there to guide him... I have a feeling that both of them might not be available nor would they want to guide a team... something that Cage might feel he's capable of doing.

These New Avengers really seems more interesting to me now than they did at their first inception.

:yay:

I think Bendis explained it as this:
Spider-Man is on the team, but not everyone trusts him enough to let him be their leader. I think he said that Spidey isn't as well-trusted because he was originally with the pro-regs, and helped Iron Man at the beginning of CW.

sounds logical
