Lets see, Mariko was a great character, the actress was fantastic, for once, Logan got a somewhat happy ending, and there is the potential that she might return in future films (please). So I was glad that she lived, she was too awesome to die.

I was more disappointed that Wolverine fighting ninjas didn't happen except for about 10 seconds after which we got the porcupine/arrow scene.

At the most I would maybe have Wolverine make reference to her, but I don't see any reason to have her there.

Though I wouldn't say no to her as X-23's mother in an Age of Apocalypse film.

No. The Wolverine miniseries actually had a positive ending and Wolverine getting a measure of redemption and getting back together with Mariko.

In the anime version she does die though.

But you know that miniseries ended with them not getting together, right?

She basically left him at the altar.

I was expecting that to be the way it ended, but I'm glad they didn't end it that way.

I remember you regularly talking about your expectation that Wolverine would do a mercy killing on a poisoned Mariko. I'd already seen the movie when you were still saying it but i made sure not to give anything away, so that you'd still see things you weren't expecting!

I liked this ending. I think it was a bold move, to give Logan some sort of ongoing relationship at the end of this movie instead of 'wrapping things up' by getting rid of Mariko. Yes, it was heartbreaking when she died in the comics, and yes, I think her death would work well on the big screen... But not yet. They had only just met. It wouldn't have had the same impact that it had in the comics.

And it would've been too much, with Jean constantly there to remind him he'd already taken the life of a woman he loved.

Besides, I'd love a Mariko cameo in DOFP. Yes, I would.

I think that she will pop up again in a future film. The way the movie ended led me to believe that Logan would see her again.
