Superman Returns SPOILER::Pics. of what happens to Lex Luthor at the films end...I think it sucks

So....even though this forum is CLEARLY a 'Spoiler' Forum some twits will most certainly bash me for the lack of 'Spoiler' alert in my post...

Here are some pics. from Latino Review that methinks are the last of what we'll see of Luthor in "Superman Returns"

Now...I think that someone said in a reivew of the Novel based on the Motion Picture that Lex is left stranded on an island.

I think that kinda blows....I know that nowadays people don't want the main villain in Superhero movies to die off.....I think the opposite! There are so many villains in the Superman Rogues Gallery that can certainly fit in the sequels to "Superman Returns" we don't need to see Lex again.

I would have LOVED to see Superman kill Lex Luthor or have Luthor die off in some way...fall to his death or something! It's awesome when the main villain dies off in the end, adds a sense of closure.

Fresh ending? There is nothing fresh about that. Ummmm ....let's see....oh I GOT IT, let's leave him stranded on an island. Wow. Real brilliant. He could have at least had a cool death to end the Lex Luthor legacy so they could usher in a new villain that could actually go toe to toe with Superman.

Yeah the pics and the situation they fit in are great finds but I disagree with killing Lex. Lex should always be a thorn in Superman's side. It's someone that he can't seem to keep beaten. Besides they can bring in a new villain without having to kill Lex. Plus Superman doesn't kill.

I can picture it now if this does ends like this I see the rest of the Franchise playing out like this

Lex & Kitty both get stranded on the Island at the End Of The First Movie
In the Second Movie we get a new Bad Guy

At the end of the Second Movie the current new Bad Guy or a whole New Bad Guy finds & locates Lex on the Island & we the audience discover that he & Kitty has been banging so Lex can raise a bunch of Kids to grow up wanting to destroy Superman

New Bad Guy or the Bad Guy from the Second Movie promises Lex & Kitty that they will get revenge & the Bad Guy can put Lexs & Kitties little army into good use

& the Third Movie will be about Superman VS Lexs Full Grown Army now Superpowered thanks to w/e Bad Guy

etc etc you guys get the idea

exactly. i remember that justice league episode where superman killed lex at the beginning, and i was like !!!, but it turned out to be another dimension. still though, it simply didn't suit him.

and killing the villain at the end is too cliche. every action movie does it.

Yeah...I don't know man. I mean, I can certainly understand how people would want to keep Lex around. But think of it this way. Superman Returns is going to be the movie that everyone has been wanting to see for years....it's like everything was built up to this moment for some people....

...so the way I figure it is it's like this...Let Lex Luthor torment Superman and bust his balls and all that jazz....but after this movie it should be over! I mean yes he's a thorn in his side and all of that stuff and I guess he could be a cool villain, he certainly has the brains to battle Supermans brawn...but...I dunno...it's just so much better I find when there is a finality to it all. LET the villain die in the end.

Take Magneto for instance....that dude stuck around for 3 movies...Ok, that's fine, he can do quite a bit of cool stuff that can be shown in not just one movie. So they stretched him out for 3 films....he should have died.

With Lex...I think we are going to see just about everything we are going to see with this guy in this film. Kill him off and let the sequels have other villains...Doomsday anyone?

AND I know that Superman isn't supposed to kill....but just indulge me for a second...

Is this a fair statement to make? Lex Luthor is an evil *******! It's true! He even said it himself in the trailer, he wants to KILL BILLIONS of people! He STABS Superman, shoots him with a missle, kiddnaps Lois and that stupid kid, ..hell it looks like he wants to kill everyone!

WHY WOULDN'T HE BE KILLED? WHY would he live? This isn't a 300 part comic book, it's a 2hr. (hopefully!) movie! Bryan Singer should have had the balls to kill off Lex Luthor. Big deal if he dies? He's a prick and yes I know that Superman 'doesn't kill' but there are certain circumstances that call for a guy to do what he's gotta do...and I think there could have been some way written into this movie to allow Lex Luthor to die...and not just get shot or slip on a banana peel or some lame **** like that....

...a villains end/death should be as good as the villain himself. Spacey looks quie evil, menacing, and really cool in a lot of the footage I've seen....so he should have gone out with a bang IMO.

It would take some balls to kill Lex but its not very neccessary. Plus personally I just like the fact that Lex always finds a way to come back. You just can't get rid of that guy, even though you would figure it would be easy to.

Plus it's a not what Singer wanted, nor donner, nor anyone who respects the comics and their characters, really... supes killing the villian just isn't his way. Unless he's being a super dick.

This is just the beginning of a new franchise for supes and lex'll probably play a part in it in the future movies.

oh and about the island thing. i'll have to see it before I judge. I don't remember how he gets there though... did his plane run out of gas?

Superman should NEVER kill, but this ending is f^cking lame. Honestly, it screams 70's, which I geuss was the vibe that Singer was going for with Lex. Lame.

Here is a better ending, although Im sure that it will be called predictable, but it's also logical. The whole reason Lex isn't in jail was because Superman wasn't around to testify. Well know he is. After saving the day, Superman could grab Lex by his neck, almost ready to break it in anger, but come to his sense. Then simply turn Lex in, put him on trial, and testify. Take his money away for damages done, therefor Lex is unable to buy his way out of jail. And just don't have Lex make a lame ass escape from jail like Superman 2 and 4. He is f^cked. Bottom Line. Hell, in the real world he would get the death penalty for what he did.

And the stupidest part about the island ending is, why the hell would Superman leave him there. Seriously, Why wouldn't Superman fly the globe to find Lex. That makes Supes look like an idiot.

Now, Im sure someone will come defend Singer's decision so lets hear it. What can you pull out of you ass to back up what Singer has envisioned.

No Lex in the sequel, if there is one. Pure Braniac. Lex needs to take a seat, atleast until Superman 5, I mean the third movie in Singer's arsenal.
