Square Enix's Avengers

I just want info and footage from this game. It's weird we've seen or heard almost next to nothing about it since it was announced.

you figured they would have wanted to capitalize on the Avengers movie hype. but that didn't happen......

hopefully we get something at E3. maybe at Xbox conference??

I'll be surprised if its not at E3 but don't want to get my hopes up too much just in case. It is one of perhaps my most anticipated possible games though

I'm always down for more superhero games. especially if we get quality ones like Arkham games and PS4 Spider-Man.

it would be great if they could give that quality treatment to Avengers. especially if it gives us a good sized roster of characters to play with, giving a chance to heroes who may not otherwise get their own video game.

I wonder if it will be strictly Avengers or would characters like Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, etc. be included, given their involvement in the recent Avengers films. I know they aren't strictly Avengers members.

Shang-Chi would have a great introduction by being in this. People would get an idea of the comic version of the character then watch the movie version and we would character that's not a big name yet. Plus it would be awesome promotion and hype for the future of MCU.

Win-win all around

Agreed plus it would be so much fun to play as him

Square Enix Wants Its Mysterious 'Avengers' Video Game To Win Game Of The Year

Square Enix is laying out a plan to take home a Game of the Year award. According to a new job listing, the Final Fantasy company is looking for a key person to work on its ambitious Avengers video game project, which was teased a couple of years ago.

Specifically, video game project developer Crystal Dynamics, which Square Enix owns, is currently hiring a narrative director. This person would be tasked with creating "memorable, emotional, and cinematic experiences," meaning whatever the game is going to be, it'll mostly definitely be a story-driven title.

Square Enix Vying For Game Of The Year
In addition, the listing also reveals that the Avengers game will have "narrative gameplay elements," and it later reiterates that the job would entail making an "emotional" gameplay experience. Details on the story are nebulous as of this time, but the listing does reveal a key goal — become a Game of the Year contender. The narrative director, it states, must have a "passion for games and ambition to create a Game of the Year title."

I hope that works out for them. Personally there’s nothing I detest more than movies that were clearly gunning for an Oscar but we will see

For me that's what I want to hear from a game developer. It will make the wait worth it.

So they are still in planning stages? my God! That kind of new info should have come out a long time ago, right after the announcement. I guess Endgame money rang a big bell on them!

That's not what the article was actually implying.

Since it was first teased back in December 2017, we haven't seen or heard much officially about The Avengers Project. That could change next month at E3 as publisher Square Enix appears to be subtly hinting at a proper unveiling for the game during its broadcast.

Speculation that The Avengers Project could be shown during Square Enix's E3 showcase stems from two teaser images that the publisher posted. The first, which came last month, featured the announcement in the middle of two other images that were green and blue. Another image, posted this week, featured the exact same layout only the colors of the adjacent images were swapped to purple and orange.

Fans have interpreted this as a hint that The Avengers Project will finally debut at E3. It's believe that the colors of the images are representing four of the Infinity Stones (Time, Space, Power, and Soul). Of course, there are six Infinity Stones in total so we would need one more teaser image from Square Enix with yellow and red (Mind and Reality) to confirm the theory. There's still over two weeks to go until E3.

Despite the lack of official details, The Avengers Project is one of Square Enix's most anticipated titles. Developed by Crystal Dynamics, creative director Shaun Escayg took to social media last year to assure fans that the studio is still "hard at work" on the "very ambitious" game. We'll hopefully get our first look at The Avengers Project next month.

A game based on beloved Marvel heroes, The Avengers project is being crafted by Crystal Dynamics – longtime developers of the award winning Tomb Raider series – in collaboration with lauded Deus Ex developer Eidos-Montréal. The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise. Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.

Square Enix's E3 showcase will be held on Monday, June 10 at 6:00 p.m. PT. The Avengers Project does not yet have a release date nor do we know what platforms it'll be released on.

If the game is going to be heavily influenced by the MCU movies, I would rather see all 11 characters that got/getting a solo movie in the game. I don't want anyone to be left out especially if this is set to be the biggest Avengers game. Guardians of the Galaxy though should be separated for now as they are a team and should headline their own videogame then I would want them to appear in the sequel.

Good to see they’re aiming high. And I don’t think it’s comparable. Game of the Year type games are usually also very popular games with gamers like Red Dead/Zelda/GTA. Oscar bait is usually purposefully different to blockbuster films aimed at pleasing critics (Oscar voters in particular) rather than the general consumers. In this case it would just be a case of making a game as good as possible IMO, rather than any particular style.

There have been rumors in the past that a Guardians game is in the works at Square. The agreement is for multiple games.

If this tease indicates the game will be dealing with the infinity stones I'm a little disappointed in that. Wont stop me from from being hyped about this, but I'm tired if the stones and the gauntlet.

I'd be a little surprised if they didn't have more then one villain, especially with MUA3 focusing on Thanos. The Reddit rumor/post mentioned Doom, but hopefully we get a clearer picture in 16 days.

Especially because MUA3 is dealing with exactly that. It wouldn't be wise to put out two games with the exact same premise and featuring many of the same characters. Even if the styles are completely different.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite also featured the stones and Thanos. They should give it a rest at least for this game.

Jesus H Christ. The game is already revealed. How is this news? This seems more like a "we're still working on it, but it'll be another 6 years" type of thing.

Boring.

I'd like see the Cabal or Masters of Evil/Modok as the lead antagonists. Then have the other villains like Surtur/Ymir/Serpent Society/Ultron/Sinister 6 for self contained side quests.

They’ve got to show us something from this game at some point! What have they been doing all this time lol.

Maybe they werre/are still figuring it out. I hope its something like Spider-Man and Batman Arkham but with more playables, and like GTA/AC Syndicate, you can choose which character do you want to use during free roam. While certain missions/side quests are exclusive to a specific character. The Avengers have so many characters and villains that they can definitely do the game in a non linear way. I'd like to see a feature of using the quinjet as well and whatever mobiles / transportation there are in the comics.

I think Lego videogames have already done this, open world and they were hundreds of playable characters but I didn't play it.

If anything is revealed at E3, I'm praying for a story trailer and gameplay demo footage than just a new teaser trailer

The fact they were recently hiring for a narrative director doesn't bode well for anything being shown.
