Square Enix Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos

At first I wasn't interested in this because of only being able to play as Star-Lord, but it ended up being on sale at one point on Steam so I bought it. Haven't finished it or gotten incredibly far due to time constraints but it's a hell of a lot of fun. I'm incredibly glad I decided to get it because I'm really digging the story thus far & I had a blast with the gameplay (no pun intended haha). I absolutely intend to finish it (and probably replay it multiple times) once I'm actually able to.

Playing this and Miles Morales back to back, was a blast.

I haven't played Spider-Man 2 yet. So those two are really my last two Marvel games for now.

Still one of my favorite marvel games, I wonder what a sequel to this would have looked like
Maybe it would have expanded to allow you to control more than just Star Lord. I could also see co-op added

I think we definitely would have Nova with maybe Annihilus as the bad guy. I have just finished the Avengers game campaigns and while I think that game gets too much flak GOTG is so much better

WowI didn't realize I only played this, last year. It felt like forever. Though this took me like less than 2 weeks (and Miles Morales) to finish, so it really feels like a blur memory now.

As for Spider-Man 2, I'm finally playing that next year!

Still early in the game (Chapter 4). I'm really enjoying the game so far. I thought the constant banter would annoy the **** out of me, but no, I've been really enjoying the dialogues so far. Sometimes I just stop and listen to their convo. Cutscenes are really well done too and the game has some great visuals as well.

But the gameplay loop? Ooof, I think it's mediocre specifically the combat... I usually play on the hardest difficulty, but I'm going through my backlog as quick as possible, and I think this is one of the "play it for the story" games. I don't really have the time and patience anymore for bullet sponge enemies. :funny:

It gets a bit better as you continue to unlock more ability options to mix it up, but the gameplay is never the strongest part. It's fine, imo, but yeah it's all about the story, the characters, walking around certain locations and finding the interactive moments.

This is pretty big coming from you. :p

I liked the gameplay just fine. It's mixes it up a bit as well with some missions in space, etc. I would have loved a sequel to this.

I do think that Guardians of the Galaxy is really fun, but it's a bit on the short side. I think it needed a couple more missions once you unlock everything and get everyone leveled up, and maybe a few more alternate path choices.

Like the game is built off the Mass Effect model, but it's very superficially done at times.

That said I do enjoy the combat and the way you can mix all the Guardians' attacks. The alternate skins are cool though I do wish some of them offered different effects or buffs, which would've made them a lot cooler. Like for example, what if Starlord's first appearance skin gave him a sword and raygun like his original appearance. Like give him a unique sword slashing melee attack. I get that would've cost more money to render but I think this is the type of stuff next-gen games are missing now.

Like I want things like X's Hadoken and Dragon Punch in Mega Man X series but for current gen game titles.

At the very least there wasn't a crazy cliffhanger or anything. I would've liked a sequel to adapt Annihilation Wave or they could've done Annihilation Conquest with the Phalanx.
