Square Enix's Avengers

Years ago? They didn't show any of this game until E3 2019, which was a little less then a year before it's release. Also, hard to say this game ever "looked" good, and they started describing the pretty obvious issues there would be with it rather early on.
2019? What are you talking about? Look at all this great 2017 footage.

Rocksteady has no say. It's up to WB Games.

I'd like to think given the success of the Arkham games that WB would basically let Rocksteady do their own thing with minimal interference.

Then again, they did get the developers of Shadow of Mordor series to add microtransactions/loot boxes into the 2nd installment. I didn't play the game until it was on sale, by which point the microtransactions had been removed presumably due to fan outcry, however from what I remember reading they were the bad kind microtransactions ie Paying for loot boxes would get you more powerful orcs than a non-loot box buying player would ever be able to get, that would give them an advantage in Online Fortress Defence/Attacks.

Yeah, WB Games doesn't care about success. All that means to them, is they can get a bit more "extra" revenue out of it.

Could quite easily believe that, anytime I've looked at it on Steam in the last few weeks there's been less than 1,000 people playing at peak times. Essentially that translates into; it's dead. I'd be very surprised if the people playing could get matched up for online/co-op with so few people & if you do you're probably going to get paired with someone on the other side of the world.

Compared to launch there was I believe as high as 35,000 I think I remember it seeing, currently, we're admittedly not in peak time as I write this, there's only 500.. to put that into perspective Arkham Knight currently has 800 playing & Arkham City has 500.

What a joke. This is an Avengers game released recently and it is barely outdoing a game from 2011 lol.

It makes me wonder what the villain to Avenger ratio will be for updates. Will it be one to one? I kinda doubt we'd see a couple of villains per character update or even for the forthcoming raids. I still struggle to wrap my head around the lack of Marvel content this game has.

It's incredibly disappointing given the success of the Arkham franchise & more recently the Spider-Man franchise. The blueprint is there on how to make a good superhero game, the route Square Enix decided to push The Avengers down isn't it.

Yep, this could have been even better IMO. :csad:

I would love to see the behind-the-scenes meetings going on right now. No chart is going to make that 96% of playerbase lost figure look anything close to reaching ok. Hopefully there are many recriminations and Square realise they totally squandered one of the most valuable licenses right now.

This game honestly never appealed to me. From the beginning, aside from the teaser trailer, I’d never been excited for this property.

However, I’ll still remain optimistic in their possible endeavors. I think it ultimately comes down to “How bad do they want it”? And I mean that in how hard are they willing to work? After seeing what “No Man’s Sky” has been able to pull off...I think honestly anything is possible.

These kind of games always seem to be “broken” / “unfinished” when they launch. Remember Destiny? Destiny was the brunt of a lot of jokes when it released. While another game I don’t play, it’s possible to win your fans back. Granted, 96% is a steep uphill battle. I think if they really pay attention to their fanbase/the gripes people have, they could do a pretty decent overhaul to save some semblance of face.

Just a thought.

Well I hope some things have been learned for the Guardians of the Galaxy game square is also reportedly making.

So this is basically the Lawbreakers of super hero games right?

For those still wondering, this is apparently the list of characters to be released over the "first year" in order. The person who leaked it apparently has a good track record. The time frame if a year is probably not correct anymore. Also apparently Clint was originally meant to be the first character in the game, but apparently they changed that to Kate out of nowhere. So there is talk that Clint might already be done, or almost done.

- Kate
- Clint
- T'Challa
- Jennifer Walters
-- Bucky
- Carol
- Peter Parker
- Rhodes

Quicksilver would have been an awesome addition if this was actually a good game.

You'd think Ant-man, Scarlett Witch and Vision would be on the list before they started on the sidekicks. Not to mention that's a lot of repetition in power sets.
I think that similarity is why they are on there. Less work to do. Don't have to create an entire new playstyle, just modify it a bit. Sadly, what I expected.

If they really want to win back players, introduce some more big name characters like members of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, etc.

I’ll probably be picking this up for Black Friday. Saw that GameStop will have it for $25
