If it makes it will SR go down in history as the slowest movie to cross 200M???
Nah. The record is 232 days. SR hasn't been out four full months yet. It'll likely cross this weekend and be at #8 or so. Even if it's not this weekend, it won't be higher than #6. It's definitely a surprise, it'll take this long, but it won't be a record.

I can tell you this is probably closer to the domestic figure WB wanted to reach.
Yeah i think they definetly expected more than 300 million.

Based on overseas BO returns? Wow I wouldn't guess that. Can you list some movies who have achieved a domestic box office 1/6 of the worldwide total and a sequel was greenlit. That sounds like a crapshoot.
Da Vinci Code made $217,536,138 in the US and $537,355,686 overseas. Is that close enough?:woot:

Then i hope it reaches the mark soon, any chance of a clue Retro?:yay:
I don't really like to tease so i won't give any hints that will lead to endless speculation. I'll just say that i gasped a bit when i saw it.You'll find out soon enough when it hits 200.:hyper:

It should be close by next weekend, not this weekend. It should be there in about two weeks or so.

My calculations are saying next week...mid week.

LMAO!

THIS IS SUPERMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People were hoping for numbers like Spider-Man for cryin' out loud, and I don't blame them. Superman is suspose to be the biggest hero ever. Spider-Man made what? Nearly a billion. Superman didn't even do half that. It was pathetic especially seeing how much they put into it. You don't put $200M into a blockbuster unless you're expecting it to be one of the biggest hits of the year. And to believe, at first, I was thinking it'd get Spider-Man numbers as well.

The notion that Superman is the most popular hero has been dated for a long time. If you think SR´s numbers are so humiliating, check how much Superman III and IV made...

Anyway, hehehe, Nolan´s The Prestige appears to be opening at number one at the same time that SR should reach 200m. Pretty cool...

Wow, thinking of those movies actually almost made me appreciate Superman Returns.

Even though I hated this movie I hope it crosses the mark.

Remember ticket prices were a lot lower when those films came out, so the fact that they made that much was amazing. When ghostbusters came out you could see a movie for $3.50. same with most of the films on that list. So the fact that SR is taking so long with ticket prices what they are is a bigger deal than these films. Also there are a lot more theaters now.

True, but their wasnt near as many blockbusters released back then like their are now.It seems we get one every week.Lots of competition these days, but it still should have reached 200 mill before now.

I wasn't arguing it wasn't a big deal, only responding to an inquiry of where SR would fall on the list. Of course this movie shouldn't have taken this long to get to 200M.

Feel free to recalibrate the list according to inflation.

I think it has reached its 200M mark is it strange that SR remains in the top 5 most popular movies on boxofficemojo? I guess we aren't the only ones who want to see it reach 200M.

Not to me. What big blockbusters have been released this year? I can only name 2 that apply to me.

This is very true, but then don't you always have to look at the ticket prices being higher and less affordable also keeps some people from spending the money and waiting until DVD or Pay Per View. It works both ways.

Well we know POTC2, are you counting X-Men or Cards? Da Vinci Code? Depends what the definition of a blockbuster is.
