So the dust of the summer has settled and the two big superhero movies have finished their cinematic run so which did you the SHH poster find the better film ?
I put this here in the neutral zone to see how it pans out and will leave the poll up for 5 days

If you thought they both sucked simply vote for the one you thought sucked less:cwink:

I voted for Superman Returns.
Didn't think either one of them plain sucked, though both were disappointments to me, and X3 being the biggest disappointment of the two.

X3 was one of the worst comic book movies ever. A complete disregard to the characters and to the two previous movies. Rothman, Ratner, and the writers completely destroyed the franchise and shouldn't work on any comic book movie again.

SR I enjoyed, but it didn't meet my admittedly high expectations. It has great moments in it, but on the whole, it didn't completely feel like a Superman movie. Its too confusing how it fits in with the other Superman movies, yet wants to be its own as well. It also introduces too many weird, non-Superman elements that made the movie seem odd and not quite all there, or not comfortable.

So SR....easily.

SR was actually a good movie

X3 wasn't really.

I haven't seen SR yet, from what I hear its "okay" or "good". X3 was just plain bad, it was a big disappointment to me.

I expected more from SR, but it was still good.

X3 was a waste of time, money and celluloid.

I think Jack got it right.

SR could have been better, and while it's not exactly the story I would have told.....it's still a good movie. Maybe not great, and it gets ton of heat.....but at the very least, it's decent compared to X3 I think.

Odd too......X3 has so much action, and not so much story for me. While SR had so much story, and just not enough action.

And, X3 had a lot to live up to, being the supposed final act of a great series. Superman can make up for mistakes with a strong sequel. I dunno if X-Men can do the same.

I think that's a pretty good summation,SR while flawed in parts characterization-wise and lacking a bit pace it was strong in the quality of the sets, acting, story and character interaction IMO

X3 felt like a video game to me

Yeah, and if I wanted to feel like a video game, I'd spend $50 and waste 100 hours on it instead of 7 bucks and 100 minutes :cmad:

X3 was pretty forgettable, but at least it was short, to the point, and was the first X-men movie to put on display mutant powers other then Wolverine, so for that I give it credit.

SR was a boring waste of time that tried way to hard to follow the formula of Batman Begins, and Richard Donner, was a serious, dark, drag movie, with holes in Lex Luthors plan so big you could fit Brian Singers ego inside it, and Since Superman says only one syllable words the whole movie, Luthor becomes the main character, so therefore the plot revolves around him, making the plot rather weak. It forgot the playfulness of the old superman movies, The Man of Steel, Faster then a speeding bullet, more powerful then a locomotive, etc. Those are the subtle nuances that made Superman in general, and the first Superman more fun to enjoy, and are rather ignored in Returns. Routh, and Bosworth where nothing compared to their predessecors, and it felt like they just had a one night stand, and this was the awkward coffee table meeting, rather than being in love a lifetime ago.

this is all IMO but X3 for me

When I first saw X3, I was at first, entertained by it. I knew watching it it wasn't as good as the first two, but I thought it still had it's moments. Then I rented it and god I'm glad I didn't buy it cause I never realized how boring it actually was. I guess I was in denial when I was watching it the first time.

Superman Returns though is great, even though Lex's evil plot is a lil meh. I'm still hoping that one day the movie Lex will become more like the business man he is today. I know it had some weak spots, but the moments in that movie that got it right, really blew me away.

X3 was short, sharp and to the point.

When you watch the 3 X-movies in a row they blend very well and things like the death of Cyclops don't seem so bad .. (In the movies he was a wasted character)

SR was one of the dullest summer event movies I have ever wasted money on.
In a time where special effects could allow us to witness the man of steel fight ANYTHING and do ANYTHING we are force fed more Lex and his stupid plans for world control.

X3 was not a masterpiece but it entertained me .... Superman was bland and the box office proves that.

Speak the truth

I am not the biggest fan of X-men 1, I think it might be one of the most boring movies ever, but when you watch them as one, it doesn't make X1 seem that bad for me. Thats a good point about veiwing them as one movie

X3. The only people who didnt like it are the whiny fanboys.

Wow, such a piss poor attitude. Its called an opinion, you snob. Look up the word sometime when you're not busy being an ass.

And I am not surprised at all I SEE SPIDEY agrees with you. Trolls flock together.

That's because everyone else with taste who wasn't a fanboy had the sense to not see it at all.

I do agree that such a generalization isn't valid at all

but I still like X3 better

A movie should be good enough to stand on it's own so saying X3 is good if you watch it back to back with X2 as a tacked on ending doesn;t fly

Sorry to burst your bubble but I'm not an X Men fanboy and I thought it was shoddy and so did the friends i saw it with and they don't read comics at all

You are the only one who thinks that I am a Troll and I could care less rather you are surprised or not. You don't seem to respect anyone's opinion so look whos talking. I think that X3 is no worse than X-Men but worse than X2 and I think that SR and X3 are basically tied so I can't pick which was better until I see the films again.

P.S Get over me.:yay:

Yeah except there was in my humble opinion no contest which was better. (BB)

This reminds me of the BB vs FF poll.

I wish I would have been around for that, I feel that one would be less intense though, because X3, and SR, are two new interpretations of comic books, and movies, that no one really complained about the old interpretations of the movies, and making this even more saucey is the man at the center of all of this is Brian Singer, so this will also completely split the Singer hatters, between the Singer followers
