I wonder why Cyclops had the worst screen time in X3? and how Wolverine gets written in Cyclops role in X3?..I would use your reasoning for X3 not X2....and Cyclops went missing in the novel BTW.....L0ngsh0t said:This is so bull****, the absence of Cyclops was nothing more then making Wolverine the absolute center of attention. If you listen to the commentary on X2 Singer in so many words basically confirms that.

ask them if they were familiar with the character before being approached with the movie??..I bet they had to do research first.....L0ngsh0t said:Nolan, and Raimi seem to get the jist just fine, I want a director like that for my beloved Xmen not Singer/Ratner

I wonder who was executing orders at the end of X1???..not wolverine...Wolverine wasn't written over Cyclops in the first 2 movies..it was in X3....they are wolverine movies..part 4 is on the way...... singers fault right?? and Ratner is the innocent one??...Wolverine was the main character but other character around him got favorable screen time thats why singer just added one character in X2 cause of other character screen time....and not flooding the movie with mutants and killing some offL0ngsh0t said:Ummm last I checked Wolverine was the main character in both X1, and X2 usurping not just Cyclops but everyones screen time, which they completely missed the point by doing that, they should have just called them wolverine movies. The X-men are a team, and Cyclops being the leader of the team, not once took any sort of leadership role in the entire franchise, nor stepped in and said anything remotely important throughout 2 movies, until his 5 minute tour de force in X3. Singers fault

yes they know they names and so on...but are they really familiar with the character...trust me Raimi went through a bit of research to get spidey rightWell, first off you know they where at least familiar with them

Singer made horrible X-movies with wolverine as the star. The reason these movies are so overrated is because we dont have any other x-flims to compare them to. If donner's film had never been made then sr probably would have become just as overrated as the xfilms.
L0ngsh0t said:. . . It isn't till X3 that we actually see the X-men do, what we have grown accoustom to them doing, using their powers, would some story be nice, yes, but how can you put a character named Iceman in 2 movies, and not have him actually turn into an Iceman? You have a lady named Storm, but in X1 you might as well call her Lightning Queen, because that is all she does, Cyclops can shoot Lazers out of his ****ing eyes and he is hand fighting?
He isn't the unofficial star in the original Claremont comics. And he's hardly the star in the current (highly acclaimed) Astonishing X-Men comics as well.livrule said:Wolverine was always going to be the focus.
It makes sense on every level from marketing to financial gain. The comics are no different ... its a team book but Logan has always been pushed forward as the unofficial 'star'.
There wasn't any thought boxes X-Men: TAS or X-Men: Evolution and both of those faired quite well with Cyclops being the leader.livrule said:As for Cyclops ..... in a comic book you can read his mind ... see what the man is thinking ... it adds depth to a character that is, to be honest, not very interesting most of the time. You can't do that in a movie and making him the centre of any story would have been a massive mistake.
you wouldn't want me to pick apart X3 now....Zombie in the red??...crash through walls guy??.....everywhere man??....fast woman??..shockwave lady???.head spike??..purple hair??..etcIt isn't till X3 that we actually see the X-men do, what we have grown accoustom to them doing, using their powers, would some story be nice, yes, but how can you put a character named Iceman in 2 movies, and not have him actually turn into an Iceman? I liked the first two movies.....don't get me wrong....but X3 brings them down a bit....I hardly watch them anymore........it seems like both directors tried too hard to stay true to the first movies......Ratner seen Wolverine star....and made wovlerine the star.....tried to put ethnicity in like singer did and went over board....seen singer added a new character and new villian...Ratner adds too many Villians and too many characters.....seen singer explore two sub-plots in a long movie...ratner explore two major plots in a short movie.....L0ngsh0t said:I know where X3's faults lie, I am in no way annointing that movie the definitive xmen movie, but it was a fresh way to end the lackluster saga, so we can start over in 5-8 years and make the X-men saga that should have been made.
Hey Multiple Man was pretty true to form, could have used a little more screen time but who couldn't in X3

Singer on the other just made SR I think in his vision and to stay true to the Donner Classic which was bad idea....Singer had the right idea but should of did a rehash of the first superman...reboot...not a conglomerate of SI and SII in a new movie....
I like Rush hour 1 and 2 and X1 and X2..fair game
Triadkd said:Cyclops was not a major gun in the X-Film universe. The studio said it was the last and wanted ratner to go out with a bang so he did. And it's funny how no one wants to talk about the fact that singer had 10 times as many resources as ratner and still couldnt make a better film. As soon as fanboys heard who was directing they made up their minds. If the film had been directed by singer(although cyclops probably wouldnt have any lines) you all would be praising it.
cryptic name said:according to this poll, singer did make a better film. the fact that you don't like it doesn't make it bad. you're backing an argument up with your own opinion, so there's nothing to talk about.
