i'm sure some of you have already seen these images of Adam Kubert's Superman...

...but i don't know if any of you have seen this image...

it shows Superman with a very similar "S" to the one used in Superman Returns. so i made this thread for discussion on if any of the other comics have used elements of SR or even to discuss or predict if SR will have any further influence.

i believe it will...it might not have MUCH, but i wouldn't be surprised if we see a spin-off "what if" comic where Superman ends up having a child in the near future. chances of that aren't high, but like i said....i wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.

The comics should not, I repeat, SHOULD NOT be altered to match the films.

What? you guys don't want wig wearing real estate agent lex in the comic?

i would never want that to happen either, but i don't see anything wrong with comics being INFLUENCED by films...

That's the single dumbest thing any publisher should do. if you have a cross platform marketing tool such as a Superhero character in a film, TV show, etc. you absolutely make it sync with your character. You don't want potential new readers to go to the shop looking for the same charcarter they've seen else where and be confused because things look different. It will cost you sales.
it's also important from a creative standpoint to have all different types of interpretaions of certain characters to work from.

Then go ahead... Change him. I want to see how long it lasts.

Lex has definately gone back to mad scientist mode in the recent comics.

It's almost like the silver age is reviving itself somehow after the Infinite Crisis.

Regardless, Up, Up and Away was a great arc.

You are so anti wigs. What about the bald people...think of them.

How can you keep track of all your memberships? Your signature is going expand and cover the whole thread.

I didn't know anybody was De-modded?

I dont even remember what our bet was related to for some reason? Giving the kid more to do? Hmmm.

the comics have been minimally influenced by the Singer movie, but that's about it... thank God they didn't give Superman the same colors that he had in the movie.

I wish they did...so you could get mad and I can laugh and laugh.

Superman had colours in the movie? ;)

The comics should take the best parts of the movies, cartoons, whatever. If the Batman comics hadn't taken the Batcave, Batmobile and Alfred role from the serials, they would never have become part of the mythos.

I hope you really don't mean that...

It wouldn't really make me mad, whenever they do stuff like that it only lasts a little while. To me, no big thing. I am just kidding about laughing at your madness.

Let's also not forget that had it not been for the Superman radio show the comics may never have had Superman fly, there may never have been Kryptonite, The Daily Planet would still be The Daily Star and the editor in chief would never have been called Perry White.

Just goes to show you how people are afraid of change, imagine if Burton or Abrams had gone forward with their visions. Oh man...

It's not just the costume (which IS now being depicted with a raised "S", angled belt, etc, but the Fortress has gone back to the pseudo-Donner crystal version, and there have been storylines about Luthor invading the Fortress and using Superman's technology against him, and Superman finding a kid (eh? eh?)...among other things.

Then I guess someone should have made look like how he is in the comics so that it absolutely sync's "...with your character. You don't want potential new readers to go to the shop looking for the same charcarter they've seen else where and be confused because things look different." Someone in your Corporation should have told Singer that. Superman on a 2006 cover.

And Singerman

Big shield. Red not maroon. No 3-D small S. No crew neck. Different cape attachments. No Guci belt. Granny panty cut shorts. No garden boots. No wonder why viewers went to the theaters looking for the same charcarter they've seen else where and got confused because things look different.

Did the Chris Reeve films affect the comics back in the 70's, I don't remember.

Sigh. People hate Superman Returns for ripping off Donner, and they call him Singerman. If that's the case than his name is Donnerman.

I'm all for comics adapting superior lements from other media. Say, the crystalline Krypton/Fortress of Solitude, the Tumbler from Batman Begins, the costumes from the X-Men movies etc. But as long as it's not overdone.
