Doesn't work in the beta.

However, typing "/screenshot_ui_jpg" or "/screenshot_jpg" takes screenshots. Something like that, just type /screenshot in game.

moving this to the second page.

I started playing this over the weekend and I've enjoyed it so far. I'm a trekkie so of course I'm probably a bit biased. But the ship battles are really fun and worth it alone. I just started so I'm not a very high level yet. My character and ship names are:

Ichigo Zangetsu
My starship is the U.S.S. Zanpakuto

Yes, I'm a Bleach fan. :)

bleach is a cool show. their coming soon with a marathon on CN of new ep's from what i hear.

Back on topic you have until tonight and tomorrow night 6:00 pm to get there then so your hopes of getting high up aren't that great. So i hope your buying the full game next week like the rest of us. I played like crazy to reach L.t. commander. and i only started Tuesday after seeing it on giant bomb. and even though I can buy a ship now in game I want that defiant ship. damn energy credits . so I'm doing what i did in border lands.

I compare what i have and keep the best stuff and and head back to sol and store the best in the bank and the ones i might no t use i sell them for the energy credits. in two way through the exchange and and weapon place on that earth station. to buy that ship . It's an endurence run of my own.

I hope i get enough. or close to enough before then .

I've caught up on all the Bleach episodes via online sources. CN plays the english dubbed versions anyways, and I'd rather watch the subtitled version.

I already pre-ordered, so yeah, I bought. :)

I'm there in that mid pic i'm the black tactical officer with the target sight flashing on borg behind the guy with the yellow shoulder pads look. oh wait no I'm in the top right actually I forgot my position just now. and I have my duel phaser pistols firing. the one in the mid lower left of that middle pic is a girl. The only person I saw online once in other places was Dave. so far.

Yeah it's true I saw that two days ago. I just got my hard copy of STO today from Eb games along with my CE Mass Effect 2. so I have 2 CE's for these two games and I joined the Space neon Lobsters over the weekend.

We have a vent channel so we can talk instead of type to each other but if we do there's the fleet chat still.

there's als the Crabs now for the klingons and there's the giant bomb fleet. the hasn't be fully made yet.

oh and i got my new ship and pimped it with the best weapons I could. It's the U.S.S. TeTer II and it's a cruser. oh and I beat that ambassador that was after tom paris's kid. it was just last night.

I want to get this game, but I hate paying 15 bucks a month. My brother and I are going to split it, but can we do that? I don't usually live at home, so I'd want it on my laptop and his desktop while we live apart. Or is this game like Spore and you can only put it on one computer?

It's actually 10 dollars per month actually. If your doing that way. I'm doing the 12 month payment. the life time one which was the most EXpensive (initial terms only) is over now. So just do the 10 dollars per month one now.

And what you should do is buy it through steam that way you can access it through anywhere regardless. your steam account will work on any ones computer and youll acess all your games that way. which you can do it through your bros PC or at your own.

oh I just have mine up loaded to steam but I have the a hard copy( which means disc according to steam) and I have 3 " 10 day" guest pass's since i bought the CE for this. so I have to get some buddies on this thing.

Star Trek Online : Console Announcement Gives Reason for Graphics Update

Posted May 19, 2016

The Star Trek Online team is busy preparing the game for console release later this year. Part of the preparation includes updating the games graphics in a way that shows vast improvement, but also keep the game viable for lower-end systems.
In a new, detailed developer blog on the game's official site, readers are given insight into how big improvements will be made in very visible, yet low footprint, ways.
The lighting system, on the other hand, was way out of date. It was pretty obvious that updating the lighting would have the biggest impact, not only to the look of the game but on the lives of the artists that are developing it! They have to jump through a lot of technical hoops to get the lighting to look good by today’s standards. So we decided that the best features to add would be lighting-based: deferred shading and light probes as well as some updates to our HDR lighting and post processing.
With STO’s old lighting model, artists would only be able to use a few lights in any given scene so they had to be very creative to make a scene look convincing. With this update, we moved STO to deferred shading. It basically means the artists can use as many lights as they need to light their scenes. Correct lighting adds an incredible amount of realism to the game and makes everything feel much more immersive.

Star Trek Online previews the missions of the 23rd century and its console UI

May 25, 2016 6 Comments

When Star Trek Online goes back in time to the era of the original series, players are going to have plenty of temporal antics to deal with… along with plenty of more immediate issues like hostile Klingons and phenomena totally unheard of in the 23rd century. Players with Gold or Lifetime subscriptions will be able to experience the Battle of Caleb IV and Tangled Webs before the expansion goes life, giving them a chance to slip back in time and take on threats to Starfleet before the modern era.

If you’re not up for mucking about in the timestream, however… well, this might be the wrong franchise for you, but you can still take advantage of the game’s upcoming console UI. Controlling your starship on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One was always going to require a reworking of certain interface elements, and the solution is a special radial menu allowing players to quickly navigate and utilize abilities in ground combat and space combat. The result is cleaner LCARS-inspired menus and an interface made for a console while still carrying all of the elements of its PC origins.

Star Trek Online: Agents of Yesterday launches on July 6th

June 8, 2016 4 Comments

Play Star Trek Online for free
Players of Star Trek Online are no strangers to going back in time, but Agents of Yesterday is something different. It’s not just traveling back in time, it’s being back in time, back in the era of Kirk’s crew and the travails of a younger, less assured Federation. The expansion is launching on July 6th for everyone, so you’ve got just about a month left until you can… travel back in time. Between points in the future. It’s a bit complex. Players will be able to make a new Captain appropriate for the timeline of the original Star Trek, investigating problems and exploring frontiers that were certainly quite new at the time. The expansion also features classic Star Trek voice talent to make the game feel just a bit more authentic. Unfortunately, we’re all still traveling through time at a linear pace, so you’ll have to wait a bit longer before you can also go back in time to a slightly less far-flung future.

Star Trek Online details its fabulous non-spacecraft rewards for this year’s summer festival

June 8, 2016 15 Comments

Play Star Trek Online for free
You can earn yourself a powerful new starship in Star Trek Online’s summer festival on Risa. That’s wonderful. But the respect that such a ship brings comes entirely from the fear of its weapons and its capabilities. By contrast, if you stride onto the bridge in silver lamé swimwear with inexplicable go-go boots and gloves, everyone will respect you forever. They’ll respect you so much that they’ll request transfers to other ships just because they’re inadequate in the face of your glory. Players not interested in earning the right to march about with chest hair and torso straps will still have plenty of stuff to purchase from the event, including new vanity pets, new floaters, new mini-powerboards, and all of the rewards offered in previous years. So you could also step onto the bridge with a new pet whilst wearing a bright silver outfit that could only be considered swimming attire by someone feeling very generous with the definition. That’s the sort of respect you can’t get from just a spaceship.

Star Trek Online will memorialize Anton Yelchin in-game

June 20, 2016 20 Comments

For those of you who missed the news, actor Anton Yelchin (best known to fans of Star Trek as Chekov in the reboot films) died this weekend in what appears to be a freak car-related accident at his home. He was 27 years old, gone long before anyone would have expected to be saying farewell. Star Trek Online lead designer Al Rivera was asked over the weekend if Yelchin would be memorialized in the game, to which his answer was an immediate and unqualified “yes.” Yelchin will join the other performers and crew members memorialized in the game, a tribute for contributing to our hopes for the future.

The more immediate future for STO is its next expansion and its console launch, which of course brings with it graphical improvements. The docking area of Earth Spacedock is being shown off with the old lighting and the new lighting; use your mouse to slide between the two screenshots for a back-to-back comparison. Read more

Star Trek Online to introduce JJ Abrams-inspired content

June 20, 2016 30 Comments

PWE and Cryptic have confirmed today that the Star Trek Online universe will collide with the JJ Abrams lore. “Players will soon be able to journey to the alternate reality seen in Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness,” the studios posted today. “A new mission awaits our captains there, along with other exciting surprises! Look for future updates on new Star Trek Online content as the launch day approaches, and we’ll see you in-game for the release of Agents of Yesterday!” Yes, there’s lore justification for it, not that it will calm naysayers, but really, is there anything you can’t justify with time travel and alternate dimensions?
“The sheer destruction from the Hobus supernova has weakened the barrier between our reality and one strangely similar to our own, leaving a strange temporal anomaly in its wake. This anomaly serves as a gateway between our universe… and a quantum universe both similar and different to our own. Interdimensional travel between these two realms is now a possibility… as the crew of the U.S.S. Kelvin found out to their dismay…”

Star Trek Online previews its new console UI for ground combat

June 21, 2016 4 Comments

Ground combat is not the biggest feather in Star Trek Online‘s metaphorical cap, but there are many missions in which ground engagements are called for. You can’t just fly a Galaxy-class starship into the corridors of a space station, after all. So ground combat needs its own UI changes for the game’s arrival on consoles, and not coincidentally, the latest official development diary previews the game’s console interface for phasering your enemies on the ground.

Face buttons will allow players to activate kit abilities and interact with objects, while the shoulder buttons control firing bodes and other powers. You can also use the left stick to roll or sprint, as needed. This comes hand-in-hand with a balance pass to make ground combat faster and more responsive, bringing it more in-line with other third-person shooters so that players will have that sense of familiarity. Check out the full rundown if you can’t wait to be taking on enemies on a console, even if you have to leave the safety of your ship to do so.
