Star Trek Sequel

there are two things i'd really like to see that I miss from Star Trek:

1) epic battle sequences, possibly with a whole fleet of ships. i mean, come to think of it, there hasn't been a Star Trek film about any kind of war on a grand scale. fighting with the borg in First Contact is as close as we got.

and

2) Away teams, like in TOS. how about some investigation and helping other worlds? it doesn't have to be a major plot point or anything, but i've not seen that in a while either. i guess since Insurrection, but that's not really what i mean. i mean like TOS episodes "Return of the Archons" or "City on the Edge of Forever", etc.

Anybody else sort of want to see Kirk wearing that green shirt thing in the sequel?

Definitely. It's one of the perks of being Captain, having an alternate outfit.

I say the Cardassians have a reason to make their presence more widely known. What with the Romulans showing such advanced power. (they don't know Nero's ship was from the future) And with the destruction of Vulcan, they have a good chance to try and establish power with things so disrupted.

Speaking of outfits, I love that the Admirals uniform Pike was wearing was the same (almost) that Shatner wore in The Motion Picture.

It'd be great if we saw updated versions of the previous movie costumes in the sequels.

Yeah, the only question is what happened to the Narada for 25 years. The Klingons would have dissected the ship or destroyed it after capturing a psychotic Nero. I really wish they would have explained what happened to it, since the only thing I can think of is that Nero set it to autopilot or something before being captured, sending it to some desolate moon or something before activating a homing signal that brought the ship back to Rura Penthe to beam them up.

That was one of the most ridiculous pieces of clothing in TOS. If they decide to give him the alternate it definitely needs to be updated.

Well yeah, it probably should not have any sort of plunging neckline. But I'm sure it would be updated.

Updated = plunging neckline down to empire band; loose and flowing and long below that. Worn over a straight, long, tight shirt. Summer-weight version would be layered chiffon with spaghetti straps.

Oh, that's UHURA's updated costume.

They should just give him a green shirt in the style of the gold one. Or something...

Bring back the Borg, Spock needs to be abducted!

I had an idea that I think could work as just a stand alone film, but figured that perhaps it could work as the ST sequel. Its nothing more than the pure basics so bear with me.

What about a story where you have an alien race that's going about trying to establish/expand its empire (Gorns perhaps), and the Federation is unable to respond since much of its fleet was wiped out by Nero. Kirk refuses to stand by and let this act of aggression continue and decides to take matters into his own hands.

I'll be the first to admit that it could use some tweaking and fleshing out, but I thought it was worth throwing out there.

Some Orci & Kurtzman tidbits.

"We literally have not started to break story yet. We are just getting through all this ['Transformers' press] and then figuring out what we are doing next," Orci said. "We have had one ten-minute conversation the other day, but that is it."

They don’t know if J.J. is directing the sequel - he’s still undecided
They want to finish the sequel script by Christmas
Paramount wants to make the http://www.collider.com/2009/06/19/...sequel-villain-ideas-and-cowboys-and-aliens/# as soon as possible
They’ve been reading what the fans have been saying online

exploration sci-fi plot where the unknown and nature itself is somehow an adversary or the villain model. That’s an active discussion we’re having right now. In terms of thinking about more than one movie, we want the movie to be self-contained in a way, but we’re discussing the idea of having a couple of threads where if the second movie works, you could pick up into a cohesive whole.[

we might get the “Star Trek” film I so desperately want. I’m tired of the typical “Star Trek” movie villain. The person bent on destruction and not willing to listen to reason. I want the crew of the Enterprise to have to use their ingenuity and skill to solve a big problem and the way Bob and Alex were talking, that might be the direction they’re going. Obviously they haven’t written anything yet, so who knows. But the fact that they’re even putting the idea forward is awesome.

That's cool they're lookin at what we're saying online.

Be cool to see my break Kirk out of Gorn prison idea or something like that on screen.

And Klingons. For God sakes, hearing the name makes me sick of them.

I'll take Borg over Kilngons. How many freaken times are they going to be the bad guys???

Then I want rogue members of the Federation.

Until the 24th century? Lots.

Same goes for the Borg. Voyager over used them (not counting 7 of 9). Plus, the Borg won't show up until Picard's time, and Nero coming back isn't going to change that.

People, Klingons can be in the movie without being the main antagonists. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Nero's ship did have borg tech. So maybe that was a hint to Borg being in the next film?? It'd be neat. And i'd like them to stray away from the original movies A LITTLE bit. But im down for whatever as long as its done right
