Ah June 29th, on my birthday - If it can match the first, I will be a happy man!

Im just wondering what's up with this sequel. Seems alot of the big summer films for 2012 are starting to gear up and I havent really head anything

Hopefully when Unstoppable comes out Pine will let something out

Still a waste not to have Javier Bardem as KHHAAAAAAAAAANN!!!

I'm sure KHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAN! Will wind up in the 3rd film however.

People seem to forget....The Wrath of Khan came out in freakin 1982.....that was a looooooooooong time ago and seeing Khan now would be awesome!

Look how great The Dark Knight turned out by bringing in the Joker after seeing him in 1989 played by Nicholson.

People act like The Wrath of Khan was released in 2002 and not all the way back in 1982!

Unreal

I am happy that we're not getting Khan

Keep it fresh JJ :word:

The Star Trek fanbase would go nuts if they started remaking old stories. They barely dodged massive fan backlash with the 'reboot' as it is.

Question: Do you think after this series of the reboot is done that they should move into reboots of the other series like TNG, Deep Space 9, etc.

I'm not sure that there will be enough public interest.

I was so relieved he's not including Khan in the next film. We need Klingons or Andorians. As much as I would love to see his take on Klingons...i'm actually edging forwards Andorians. It makes sense because of what happened to the Vulcans in the first film. Andorians hate vulcans...they would see this has the perfect opportunity to expand their empire.

Wait, where was it confirmed we're not getting Khan? If so, then good. This is a reboot, I want fresh stories. We didn't reboot this to suddenly bring back a beloved character from the other movie. There's so many more possibilities than Khan anyway. Why retread old ground?

ABRAMS: I guess the idea of not wanting to choose to direct a film, for which I’ve not read a script. It’s a tough decision to make without seeing any pages. That’s not to say that I don’t have all the faith in the world in the spectacular writers. Damon Lindelof, Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman are awesome. My hope is that they’ll write the script, it will be great and we can make a fun, exciting sequel to Star Trek.

Isnt it supposed to be coming out next year?

Yeah Paramount is planning for June 29, 2012 as a release date, I won't mind if they pushed back it if it means Abrams is still onboard for the sequel, but I Damon, Bob and Alex is done with the first draft soon.

An update from Pine.

Pine took to his Facebook account to announce that, yes, he has read the "Star Trek 2" script, and it's unsurprisingly fantastic.

"After a thousand questions regarding the Star Trek sequel I can finally say I am holding the draft script in my hand," he revealed. "I can also now tell you I have a love interest and it's all looking very exciting. Sorry but I cant give you a date for filming yet, but you guys are going to love it!"
The Chris Pine Facebook page is a fake, so none of this is true.
