Star Trek Sequel

Khan's origin should be the same.History was only changed when the romulans led by nero attacked and Kirk's father was killed.

The creative team has made points of the characters are the same It's just parts of their history has been altered, and the universe Is trying to repair the damage(they way of explaning some of the convent things) the new films can be seen as next part of Star Trek not an entire new franchise.Just watch the alternate universe created films after the 24th century set Trek shows and films.

The Star Trek novels have reconned the eugenics wars as being secret conflict between Khan and his rivals as being behind the wars, terrorist acts and other conflicts of 1990's.
Hopefully this way Is how they would handle Khan's origin.

Khan's origin story has been problematic for years, due to... well time. His backstory involves a war in the 1990's, that obviously didn't happen.

I wouldn't mind if they retconned that, to happen at a later date. Show a real world war. It would be interesting to take a look into Star Trek's past.

Personally, I think a good fresh approach with Kahn would be to have someone else other than Kirk and co. find the Botany Bay in the new timeline. I mean, what could've happened had the Klingons found him instead?

Maybe they could dust off some of the initial idea for WOK years ago where Kahn has become the ruler of another planet and is preparing to revive his old empire on an intersteller scale?

After four year people will forget whether they liked the movie or not?

It wouldn't be fine for the studio. I'm sure they would prefer to make the money as quickly as possible (Transformers anyone?), but there's no reason a sequel couldn't be just as successful after that much time. It would be a matter of creating a story that works accounts for the difference in age.

The cast aging is actually good point, though it doesn't concern me so much. To me, the idea of switching directors is even more ridiculous.

I think the aging of the cast will actually make them look and feel more closely to the cast in the original series especially Kirk, Spock and McCoy from the movie who all looked younger than their actor counterparts in the original series.

Maybe Khan takes over a Klingon BOP and causes the cold war between the Klingon's and the Federation OR he creates a rogue group of consisting of Khan's group and other Klingons separate of the Empire.

I'd prefer them not to go with Khan, but if so, I'm looking forward to what they come up with.

That's how I feel about it. I think Quinto is almost the age Nimoy was when the show started, but still looks much younger anyway. Pine is still even younger than when Shatner started. Urban is like ten years younger than Kelley was.

I knew Kelley was older than the rest of the cast but he looked good for his age back then.

Actual age doesn't matter when it comes down to it. And in this modern age, almost everyone looks younger than their actual age especially if you compare actors from the sixties. James Dean was like 24-25 when died and looked (by today's standards) in his 30s. Dean lookalike James Franco is 33 and looks like he's in his mid 20's still.

I'm 28 but I look 22 and I'm proud of it!

^exactly also look at chris reeve he was 26 when he was in superman 1 yet he looked about 30

If not older. :o

Just because they deny It doesn't mean It's not true. There have been times
when studios and filmmakers deny something and then It turns out to be
true.Latino Review when they break stuff have a high accuracy rate.

Moriarty's point was that Abrams doesn't flat out lie. I don't know how accurate this is, but it's something to consider.

a little something i whipped up:

Spoken like a true conspiracy theorist. :whatever:

Really, why do filmmakers even try to deny fanboy rumors? They're just going to keep clinging to false hopes that they've dreamed up in their minds. It's like JGL in TDKR. Nolan tells you *exactly* who he plays, what he does, what is role is, and people *still* insist that he's whatever character they vainly want to believe in.

Could JJ be lying? Of course. He wouldn't be the first director to do so, and/or when he is revealed to as doing so, there will be no penalty or no one who will hold him accountable for doing so.

With that said, I will take JJ at his word. So is Del Toro will not be Khan, then I really have no clue. If he does play a Klingon then I hope its better than just a generic Klingon commander.

There are couple interesting Klingon characters from TOS that could used as a starting point.

When it comes down to taking someone's word on a rumor, between a filmmaker making the film or some guy (with a good rep) on a web site, I'm gonna lean to the filmmaker.

I mean what it comes down to, who would be more likely right anyway?
