So, the last film was a success and another film will be coming. But it got me wondering...how is it the studio hasn't jumped at the chance to make a new series based in the new Star Trek universe that was created? It seems odd they haven't already pushed for a new series to rake in more money on the old and new fans that the film created or brought in. It seems very un-hollywood to miss out on this chance.

Any ideas?

I think Star Trek as a tv series is done for at the moment. But might as well keep the same universe going on instead of adapting to the new film since you wouldnt get any of the cast members to be part of it.

I think they learned their lesson about over saturation. Best to keep focus on the films until they run their course, then start fresh with a series a few years after that to allow interest and demand to rebuild.
