Star Wars Battlefront 3 (cancelled) trailer leaked

First Indy, now SW Battlefront. I wonder why LucasArt is cancelling/delaying all these projects. Battlefront would've looked spectacular on Xbox 360 and PS3. What a shame.

:cmad: AH F%&* it's cancelled? Please tell me you're kidding.

Can someone else pick it up or resume working on it like Ghostbusters?

There's rumors that Rebellion might be making a new Battlefront game, but it will not be the same project that Free Radical was working on. From the way I understand it, Lucas Arts basically pulled the rug out from under them when Haze got panned by critics and sold poorly. If and when a new Battlefront comes out, it's not going to be connected to this project in anything but name.

Who says it's canceled? If so Lucasarts can go f*** itself.

It's cancelled because Lucas Arts decided to cancel their deal with Free Radical, the developer who was making it, because Lucas Arts was unimpressed with how Free Radical's last game, Haze, performed both critically and commercially. Unless Lucas Arts changes their mind, development is going to have to start over from scratch with a different developer (probably Rebellion), and Free Radical is going to go out of business. :(

I heard from the guy who released this vid (on the internet) that the game will just be transferred but somethings will be taken out like the flight (from ground, to atmosphere to space) & that instead it'll just be a cut-scene for the transitions.

But atleast it's still alive. I really hope it comes out soon, BF is one of my favorite series.

These are pretty badass:

And from some murmuring I've seen on other forums, the game isn't shelved, it's been picked up by another developer.

So the ground to space combat will still be there but we'll get a cutscene every time we do so? That sucks. That's why I didn't want to see any footage or read about any features from Free Radicals version. Now I'm just dissapointed knowing that part won't be in.

Yeah, flying from space to air would have been cool but I can live without it. So long as you can still do it, I don't really care.

The Dark Obi-Wan thing is terrible. Why don't they make a Dark Yoda while they're at it?

I rather play as Jar Jar Binks than have to see a Dark Obi-Wan. It completely butchers the character; even worse than how ROTS treated him.

You can play as Jar Jar in the game, well according to the leaked footage you can. And I've read nothing about cut-scenes replacing land to space flight. From what has been said, the game will pretty much be handed over to Rebellion and they will polish the game to pretty much make it their own.

If that means adding land to space cut-scenes then so be it, but it's yet to be mentioned.

But I tell you what, I'm so pissed off about this game be pulled away from Free Radical Design. From the leaked footage it looked mighty impressive and I'm sure you could see hints at online mode in there.

Free Radical has dibs on the engine/technology/whatever that allowed you to fly from ground to space uninterrupted. They aren't passing that onto Rebellion.

I understand what you're saying, however it doesn't mean that the tech won't be passed on.

In a way, it does. Whatever Free Radical developed to allow ground-to-space travel, Rebellion cannot use. They will have to develop their own engine/whatever from scratch to allow it.

There are no actual reports on anything, just inside sources. We don't have any official word, this game hasn't even been announced. So this game could very well be dead in the water, it could be passed on with tech missing, or it could be all given to the new developer and finished up.

Also, we have no idea if the tech even worked very well. If this game was completely solid, I don't see Lucas Arts dropping it so easily just because of Haze. Maybe it ran like **** because of the ground to space attribute.

According to ign.com, even they were surprised by the footage leaked because it ran so smooth and looked nearly complete.

Dark Obi-Wan? Im finished with this game already haha.

haha, good point. Yet it still seemed interesting. Would've loved to hear what the single player story was about.

Dark Obi-Wan would definitely have been either a dark side apparition (or a dream of some sorts) or an alternate timeline that doesn't have any bearing on the actual continuity. I HIGHLY doubt they would have actually had Obi-Wan fall.
