The Bad Batch Star Wars: The Bad Batch - Season 1 (Spoiler Discussion)

Yeah, that was some good ****. I do love how explicit they were with how terrible the stormtroopers are. "Yeah, they're not really good at anything, but there's a lot of them, so it balances out". As others have said, this episode was gorgeous. That forest environment was genuinely stunning. And I am enjoying the gradual rollout of the "standard" Empire aesthetic. Makes the world feel lived in, when things change at a realistic pace.
This has impressed me the most. Before the series aired I did not expect this to be the show that would give us a very ground level and effective look at the transition from the Republic to the Empire. But as the season has gone on, it has done it in manner that feels realistic, which makes it all feel a bit more chilling for me. It's just so... natural

I'm also digging that we're seeing how the Empire started phasing out the Kaminoan cloning facilities. In essence, it's one of the main points the show is trying to make because of clones like the Bad Batch who defied their programming and it completely makes sense from that perspective.

I wish the Empire could stick with this gen 1 storm trooper armor. It looks so much better than the OT storm trooper armor.

I like that the clones are not teaching the recruits everything they know.

I'm worried the Empire is going to put a control chip in Hunter's head and use Hunter as a sleeper agent.

I cant tell if Crosshair is still wanting to kill the Bad Batch or if he wanted to capture all of them to get their help.

Damn sad seeing what's being done to the Commando Troopers.

I worry Omega is going to do something stupid to try to rescue Hunter and make things much worse.

The Kaminoans are sooooo screwed. Its insane that they didn't have an exit plan ready to go immediately if the Republic betrayed them. Hell, its insane that they didn't have override command for every clone. And they should have made the clones entirely incapable of hurting a Kaminoan and unable to allow a Kaminoan to be hurt.

So apparently the Commando with the yellow on his armor is Scorch who first appeared in the game Republic Commando. Cool to know he survived Order 66. Shame he's an Imperial now.

This is getting better! Think I’m 2 episodes behind now. Loved seeing Hera. Btw what is the name of that strategy game they play (same one that Chewy gets really angry at when he loses and trashes the table :D ).

I love the “funny business” exchange between Omega and Hera.

I didn’t realise we were already at the end of season 1 :csad:

Awesome news on season 2 getting confirmed. This show has just got better as it’s progressed.

My favorite part of this, is they already knew this awhile ago. They had to. Production probably started before season 1 even started.

Would they have continued even if the reception was bad and engagement poor? I wasn’t convinced I was going to love it after the first couple of episodes, but after that it just grabbed me and kept improving.

For a season 2? Probably. They would have already spent the money. The turn around on animation is long, especially in these COVID times. This is why we are made aware of "final seasons" of animated shows well in advance these days.

Makes sense. I have very little idea of how things work behind the scenes for animated shows. Hopefully they are working on season 3 and 4 in that case given what they’ve achieved with the first one! I am really looking forward to the finale after letting myself fall behind the last few weeks (caught up now).

I think Filoni being involves means we will at least get a legit conclusion. Also glad you are enjoying it Iceman!

There is a reason I tend to view things as episode orders, not seasons. I suspect this is going to run for 52 episodes.

I could see that. Though that would be under Rebels, wouldn't it? I could see at least one "season" of 22.

Episode 15: Return to Kamino

Where AZ returns, oMEga takes charge, and we return to where it all started:

Excellent episode. And we still have part 2 next week to look forward to.

I wonder what’s gonna become of Crosshair. Or if he was lying about the inhibitor chip

Well I called Crosshair being bad after chip removal (elsewhere). Wonder if seeing how little Empire cares about him, will change his mind.

Man, I’ve never really been a big fan of the Prequels.

But, seeing the subsequent shots of the empty, unoccupied spaces of the Kaminoan facility, the last vestige of the Old Republic and the home of the Clones, whose look and presence came to define what many fans associate with that era in Star Wars, shot down and laid waste to sink to the bottom of the ocean floor...

...That hurt.

The Empire literally killed the Prequel Era.

Nothing makes a Star Destroyer look more intimidating than having it emerge from a lightning storm. Always an A+ choice.

Also, I'm glad to see the show has been officially renewed. It is a precious cinnamon bun of a show that must be preserved at all costs.
